[–]GymLeaderMisty 111 points112 points ago

The best part about this is that his tattoos all have real meaning to a sailors superstition.

[–]drewgarza 28 points29 points ago

The date under the anchor is the day the first Popeye comic strip was published.

[–]Folye 1 point2 points ago

Read two weeks of that strip. No wonder Popeye took it over, he's a riot!

[–]flowercup 1 point2 points ago

When I saw the date tattoo I wondered what was going to happen on January 17th 2029, then I realized it was 1929.

[–]linearcore 38 points39 points ago

What do the leaves near the anchor mean? That's the only one I'm really curious about.

[–]Herbal_Panda 90 points91 points ago

I feel like the "Futurama Meme" right now...not sure if setting me up or genuinely doesn't recognize that said leaves are Spinach????? I feel like your humor is deep and calculated, so for that, I will shut my whore-mouth.

[–]linearcore 59 points60 points ago

As much as I would like to shout "haha, gotcha!" I...I cannot.

I am ashamed that I didn't catch that. In penance I shall flog myself about the head and shoulders with cans of spinach on a rope.

[–]goots 11 points12 points ago

opened cans of spinach

[–]Herbal_Panda 18 points19 points ago

If it makes you feel better, I had to Google "Flog" (which led me to Googling "Flagellation") to correctly understand your post. I envisioned something along the lines of the accurate description, but I wanted to be certain...like, deadly certain. So, you might have overlooked a simple tattoo meaning, but I might have grown up in a city that did not emphasize developing a child's vocabulary and understanding of the English language. We're both special. Enjoy! http://i.imgur.com/OnqPd.gif
EDIT: Relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwMZ8DbJTio

[–]VashTStamp 4 points5 points ago

I like how you posted where your semi-off topic gif came from as well! I was indeed wondering the origin.

[–]eyereport 4 points5 points ago

From the article, referring to the 1700s:

Tattoos had been around for many years, but on walls, not on human skin.

That's ridiculously inaccurate. Some vikings had tattoos long before the 1700s, and that's just dealing with sailor tattoos. Tats themselves are really, really old. http://www.designboom.com/history/tattoo_history.html

[–]PartyRob 6 points7 points ago

Shiznit, biznitch. That's spiznich.

[–]GymLeaderMisty 9 points10 points ago

Its the only one I don't know the meaning for. I am in the same boat as you.

Edit: and now I feel like a dumby for not realizing they are spinach leaves.

[–]charoh 3 points4 points ago

Isn't that spinach?

[–]Dignified 0 points1 point ago

The spinach?

[–]_Snow_ 0 points1 point ago

It's spinach.

[–]BrooksWasHere1 -1 points0 points ago

Olive leaves right?

[–]Chubbstock 11 points12 points ago

Yep, they look great too. I have the birds on my back, will eventually get the anchor

[–]Creepybusguy 0 points1 point ago

Got the anchor and shellback myself.

[–]zaroclow 2 points3 points ago

Are you a sailor?

[–]backwater 19 points20 points ago

No, I just hang out at the docks.

[–]SlothOfDoom 14 points15 points ago

Mom?

[–]Chubbstock 14 points15 points ago

Yep, 7 years

[–]zaroclow 4 points5 points ago

Cool! I'm working on getting my Third mates license right now.

[–]anusface 14 points15 points ago

you should try your hardest to become a mutinous first mate.

[–]zaroclow 6 points7 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]Creepybusguy 6 points7 points ago

What do you say to an engineer working onshore? The city needs more power sir.

What do you say to a mate working on shore? Can I get fries with that?

[–]zaroclow 3 points4 points ago

hehe.

[–]Creepybusguy 6 points7 points ago

As an engineer the one that always gets me is calling me a mushroom. Cuz I live in the dark and I'm fed shit.

[–]irish711 5 points6 points ago

A bit curious as to why the artist put Max Fleischers name on the ribbon rather than E.C. Segar's. And I'm trying to figure out what that is on the right forearm:

... THE FINCH (FINICH ?)
... SPINACH

Edit: I'm an idiot... "I'm strong to the finich. Cause I eats me spinach. I'm Popeye the Sailor Man."

[–]JudgeHolden 2 points3 points ago

True, but you almost never saw "hold fast" on anyone's knuckles until Peter Weir had it on Joe Plaice's knuckles in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. After that, it was suddenly back on the popular radar and started showing up in all kinds of awful contexts. As for the swallows, I see them all the time on young urbanites who've obviously never been to sea. I'm not sure what they mean, but my dad, who was a UH1 gunship door-gunner, has one on his forearm that he got in Vietnam. If it has any personal meaning to him, he wont talk about it.

[–]GymLeaderMisty 7 points8 points ago

A swallow and a compass rose are both believed to help a sailor find his way home. The anchor is for crossing the Atlantic or also for being a merchant marine.

Its a big bummer to me being a sailor and seeing people get those tattoos without understanding their significance.

The only one that really bothers me is seeing tattoos of a full trade wind sailing ship on someone that's obviously never sailed around the cape horn. I could never imagine getting any tattoo with out understanding its meaning and then its personal meaning to myself.

[–]eternauta3k 2 points3 points ago

Sailors could read?

As in, sailors from the time of sail boats.

[–]GymLeaderMisty 2 points3 points ago

I'm sure that depended on many factors. I bet most didn't but some could and a captain certainly knew how to read.

Even if a sailor couldn't read a book he should no how to read charts, and the wind and water.

[–]iknowthisisweird 0 points1 point ago

Isn't the knot diagram for a figure 8? Wouldn't that be an awful knot to use for the sailing?

[–]kernowek 292 points293 points ago

Here is the original source for anyone interested http://cghub.com/images/view/295586/

[–]fnord-prefect[S] 93 points94 points ago

Thank you! I did a reverse image search but couldn't find the source among the many Tumblrs, etc.

Upvote!

[–]kernowek 23 points24 points ago

No worries, I saw it the other day on r/alternativeart and the poster there had linked to the original source

[–]AHrubik 7 points8 points ago

Thanks to both of you. I hadn't seen this before.

[–]jaxspider 3 points4 points ago

Those are awesome, each one would work well as a smartphone wallpaper. Consider crossposting it in /r/iWallpaper!

[–]jammerjoint 0 points1 point ago

He is the reason I eat spinach. But actually.

[–]ex_ample 0 points1 point ago

Interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that was a 3D render rather then a very meticulous painting. The source link has the model facing different directions so you can see all of his tatoos.

[–]chromosomebody 31 points32 points ago

[–]keepslosingpassword 5 points6 points ago

Cheers.
I had no idea this existed.

[–]KillerRabbitAttack 15 points16 points ago

It's surprisingly well done. Somehow I managed to grow up with this and often associate Robin Williams with Popeye before most of his other movies.

[–]Goto10 3 points4 points ago

Some great music, one of my all time favorite movies as corny as that may be.

Swee'Pea's Lullaby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjGaV3Xk6Q8

[–]TheNev 2 points3 points ago

I need to get a pic of it, but for our 1 year anniversary, my wife gave me a small picture frame with a piece of paper in it that read, "Me wife".

I kept it at my previous job every day until I left. It's now on my desk in the office at home.

[–]abctuba21 1 point2 points ago

TIL...

[–]TijuanaTacoMonster 0 points1 point ago

Williams' greatest role

fantastic movie

[–]kitchlol 0 points1 point ago

Because of that film i always refer to Shelly Duvall's character in the Shining as Olive Oyl.

[–]willyolio 32 points33 points ago

i love the "hold fast" tattoo

[–]mrgrm00 18 points19 points ago

I wonder if they'd reboot this cartoon

[–]ThirteenthDoctor 42 points43 points ago

A new film is underway by Sony Pictures under the direction of Genndy Tartakovsky.

[–]RebelTactics 6 points7 points ago

Really??

[–]frownyface 4 points5 points ago

[–]AnonymousInAtl 5 points6 points ago

This made my day.

[–]sultanblender 3 points4 points ago

And then after that... In his three picture deal he gets one "personal project."

Oh god... You know what it's going to be?

"Long ago, In a distant land..."

[–]Lupus1339 2 points3 points ago

Just listening to that line gave me chills.

[–]Neebat 9 points10 points ago

If Popeye looked like that, I'd watch it. Badass.

[–]DevineWolf 2 points3 points ago

Maybe make a movie like the tintin one?

[–]RafiTheMage447 0 points1 point ago

Didn't somebody make a noir version of popeye a couple of years ago? They called it something slightly different, like "popseye" or something, i guess to avoid copyright. But I can't find it anymore. Guess copyrightists caught up with them after all :(

[–]3rdramdeep 98 points99 points ago

I can not be the only one on here that would watch this grizzly looking bastard in a animated movie. Honestly, we could be onto something here. Reddit... MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.

[–]oogew 42 points43 points ago

If I remember correctly, Popeye is now public domain. So, anyone could make this without a fear of rights issues.

[–]HombreGranJefe 27 points28 points ago

He is in other countries, but not in the US due to stupid ass copyright laws that designate his creation as property of it's publisher; it won't be public domain until 2025 at the earliest, assuming (incorrectly) that the government doesn't pass any laws that allow any more extensions.

tl;dr: Anything a large publisher can continue making money off of will never enter public domain.

[–]juma606 14 points15 points ago

It's a Wonderful Life is public domain.

[–]steve_youngblood 10 points11 points ago

I will not allow this to be remade

[–]MeZoosta 5 points6 points ago

I know that feel bro. Lifetime recently remade Steel Magnolias. STEEL FRICKING MAGNOLIAS!! What on earth possessed them to think they can replace Sally Field, Julia Roberts, and Dolly Parton? Don't get me wrong, I'm not racist (the remake was an African-American version), but there are just some movies you JUST. DO. NOT. TOUCH. For example, a Christmas Story. Not too long ago, some retard decided it would be a good idea to make a sequel to this classic film I haven't watched it, but the box cover looks just embarrassing! If one wishes to make an even half-decent sequel to a movie, they do not wait almost thirty years after the original came out, and they try to use at least some of the original actors. And don't get me started on Footloose! Granted, not all sequels and remakes are gosh-awful. I actually don't mind Indiana Jones 4, and I'm looking forward to the Red Dawn remake. However, a director needs to know what they're doing before adding on to or redoing a classic like Steel Magnolias or It's A Wonderful Life. To reward those who actually read this, here's a fun fact: My grandmother's best friend made the armadillo cake for Steel Magnolias, which was filmed in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

tl;dr: Boniva lady-YES. Queen Latifah-NO.

[–]uramoran 4 points5 points ago

There was already a sequel to a Christmas Story http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110168/ directed by Bob Clark featuring good ole Jean Shep himself. Reading through these threads makes me realize I either watch too many movies, have a really good memory, or you motherfuckers are dumb

[–]MeZoosta 0 points1 point ago

Wow, I'm impressed. I consider myself a "movies" guy, and I've honestly never heard of that one. Jolly good show! Have you seen it, and was it any good?

[–]CardboardHeatshield 2 points3 points ago

I want to see someone remake The Wizard of Oz. Just so I can watch you have a conniption...

Does that make me a bad person?

[–]Spacelab 0 points1 point ago

starring Jim Carrey

[–]HombreGranJefe 0 points1 point ago

Technically true, but functionally false. According to Wikipedia: "In 1993, Republic Pictures, which was the successor to NTA, relied on the 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Stewart v. Abend (which involved another Stewart film, Rear Window) to enforce its claim to the copyright. While the film's copyright had not been renewed, Republic still owned the original film elements, the music score, and the film rights to "The Greatest Gift"; thus the plaintiffs were able to argue its status as a derivative work of a work still under copyright."

[–]freindo 2 points3 points ago

The sickest part of this is that Disney has been the biggest lobbyist to extend copyrights. Yes, the same company who built its fortune repurposing public domain works.

[–]gasburner 1 point2 points ago

Not only that but some of those characters can be used in trademarks for products or branding. If it's registered as a trademarked you will have a hard time with producing things in the public domain.

[–]Baaz 0 points1 point ago

Sooo, if you set-up shop in Canada you'd be good to go?

[–]chaogomu 4 points5 points ago

Unfortunately thanks to the mickey mouse copyright extension acts Popeye is still under copyright in the US until 2024. He's public domain in the EU but thanks to the Berne Convention it's still chancy to use him.

Note that only the character concept and earliest comics are public domain in the EU. The cartoons and later comics are still covered by copyright in both the US and EU.

[–]fnord-prefect[S] 10 points11 points ago

This demands a Kickstarter!

[–]TheNev 16 points17 points ago

Found the intro music!

Mainland - The Real Mckenzies

[–]FisherKing22 3 points4 points ago

That was fantastic.

[–]mrbooze 2 points3 points ago

I was going to suggest this one but fuck that I'd rather have The Real Mckenzies.

Or maybe The Dreadnoughts singing about The Dreadnought.

[–]Murloh 4 points5 points ago

Either that or:

Drop Kick Murphys - I'm Shipping up to Boston: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw

[–]k12hanchi 4 points5 points ago

Didn't the creator of Hotel Transylvania recently do an AMA where he said he was thinking about working on, or already working on a Popeye movie? I could be mistaken and I'm too lazy to go back and find it.

[–]juliusaurus 4 points5 points ago

Yep. Genndy Tartakovsky is making an animated Popeye movie, but don't expect anything realistic or gritty, expect just the opposite, cartoony and stretchy, just like the original cartoon but in CG!

[–]raging_asshole 2 points3 points ago

I wanna see what this version of Wimpy and Bluto would look like.

[–]tazelhoff 1 point2 points ago

You might be interested in this.

[–]YNot1989 0 points1 point ago

Popeye. Directed by David Fincher.

[–]flignir 1 point2 points ago

This is a fantastic idea, particularly if it takes its cues from the really early 1930's Popeye shows, in which he was constantly muttering a string indistinguishable obscenities at people that annoyed him.

[–]pingthepong 19 points20 points ago

TIL: Popeye is 83 years, 8 months old

[–]argen27 4 points5 points ago

What is his secret? Spinach?

[–]Triviaandwordplay 31 points32 points ago

He also eats Olive Oyl.

hopefully not sweet pea.

[–]ETL4nubs 36 points37 points ago

"And the speech thing and what you're doing with your eye, uh you had a stroke about 7 years ago".

[–]The_Kick-Ass_Duke 8 points9 points ago

When I was a kid, I was convinced that I wanted to eat Spinach straight out of the can like Popeye. I took one look at canned Spinach and decided that Popeye's true strength derived from him being able to eat anything that looked that disgusting.

[–]TL_Kijo 21 points22 points ago

Dat forearm

[–]orthodoxrebel 37 points38 points ago

Probably because he's spent a lot of lonely nights out on the seas.

[–]winning9986 39 points40 points ago

heres the twist, olive oil isnt a women its what he uses for lube.

[–]TheGoomba 7 points8 points ago

Her last name is Oyl

[–]Triviaandwordplay 4 points5 points ago

Olive Oyl is the woman.

[–]RebelTactics 9 points10 points ago

Sailors have big forearms. Basically everything that opens or closes in a ship is solid steel.

[–]BagOdonutz 6 points7 points ago

What forearms are to Popeye, traps are for Tom Hardy.

[–]family_guy_allusion 2 points3 points ago

[–]pandabrah 14 points15 points ago

Hold fast is to prevent a sailors hands slipping on a line (a fast when it's secured)

Swallows are for crossing the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn

Anchor is for crossing the Atlantic

Rope is for being a deckhand

Probably has a pig on one foot and a rooster on the other too.

[–]Flashthunder 3 points4 points ago

Why pig and rooster?

[–]ElleCerra 7 points8 points ago

[–]BoozingCactus 18 points19 points ago

My wife's grandfather created Popeye, unfortunately, Fisher King Comics essentially bullied his wife into signing an agreement for the rights, as of now, it's there property Her dad (Tom Segar) was the model for sweet pea , he's still alive and kicking, and I'm sure he'll love this

[–]jessvj 6 points7 points ago

I hope you don't mind, but could you expand on Fisher King Comics bullying your wife's grandmother into signing over the rights, what did they do to her? Did they threaten to sue just to drain money even if she knew she was going to win? I tend to see that very often. For example with The Lion King and I, Robot.

[–]masturbateToSleep 5 points6 points ago

Popeye is indeed a bad ass. Went to a Primus show last weekend and in-between sets they played old Popeye episodes on a massive screen. They were weird as hell, but I want to see all of them! Cartoons ain't like they used to be!! My favorite of the ones they played.

[–]wikkedwhite 4 points5 points ago

Popeye, loves one woman. Fights for her everyday.

[–]TheNev 8 points9 points ago

When Moses was called to the burning bush, he asked, "who are you".

The bush replied, "I am that I am." inferring that it was God and later gives him the task of leading the Israelites out of Egypt.

(this is really in the bible)

Conclusion: Popeye is God.

[–]redlion81 4 points5 points ago

I can see Bluto as the Devil, and Olive as the representation of man which is in the middle of the eternal struggle of Popeye/Bluto.

[–]TheNev 3 points4 points ago

this brought out my inner kid for like 3 seconds. My two icons when I was a kid were Popeye and Captain America.

Very very cool pic.

For some reason, I want to say that original Popeye cartoons are public domain now.

[–]Danzaemon 1 point2 points ago

I always thought my Great Uncle Bill was the model for Popeye. He wasn't a sailor, but he had that look about him. The old bastard only had one eye, and sometimes he'd pop out his glass eye during dinner and drop it in his water glass.

[–]Snowdart 3 points4 points ago

Sailors forearms and calves actually really got that way from days spent climbing and swinging up in the rigging. Their hands were so calloused they could slide down ropes without gloves. "Skylarking" means playing grab ass up among the masts where they could literally jump and swing like monkeys.

[–]SheeK 3 points4 points ago

I kinda want that tattoe now, "I yam what I yam"

[–]dlq84 4 points5 points ago

Is there such a thing as non-bad-ass popeye?

[–]Bassjumper0590 1 point2 points ago

I believe he'll be the next berserker in the Borderlands series.

[–]notyouravgredditor 2 points3 points ago

They should make a Popeye video game where he saves Olive Oil and the final boss battle is against Bluto.

[–]RazXIII 2 points3 points ago

To the artist: My father was (retired now) a captain in trading ships worldwide, I wanted to tattoo 'Hold Fast' in my chest for a while now as a tribute for his hard life he had in order to raise me properly without missing anything. It might sound stupid, but thank you for brining a tear to my eye, and giving me the final push I needed in order to do it. Long live sailors.

[–]rexsilex 0 points1 point ago

Where can I buy a print?

Wait, this is reddit--SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

[–]LarsThorwald 2 points3 points ago

I note the "HOLD FAST" on the knuckles appears to be a reference to the the oldest crew member in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" with Russel Crowe (it is a great movie). The old salt had the same words tatooed on his fingers.

[–]InTheHamIAm 4 points5 points ago

"Hold Fast" is an order given to the mooring crew to hold the mooring lines steady and prevent the line from "paying out" and allowing the ship to drift from the dock. Most if this work is done with electric motors now, but there was a time when mooring ships was a matter of pure man-power, which is why "Hold Fast" is typically tattooed across the knuckles.

[–]apathy-sofa 3 points4 points ago

That is a great movie, in part because it contained historically accurate bits like that tattoo - it wasn't an uncommon tattoo among sailors. I humbly refer you to "Sea Of Ink" by Baggywrinkles: http://nauticry.wordpress.com/comics/#jp-carousel-1044

Date of his first appearance in comics on his forearm below the anchor. Nice touch.

[–]noathings 1 point2 points ago

[–]Ronnie_Soak 0 points1 point ago

Never did understand Popeye.. you'd think with those huge forearms and pencil thin biceps that he couldn't punch his way out of a wet sack but could rip the lid off any jar of pickles.

[–]kouray -1 points0 points ago

Real him is not

[–]PontifexPrimus 0 points1 point ago

I thought the pipe was now officially gone...

Popeye: THE original manly man

[–]hazbaz 0 points1 point ago

This makes me want to watch a good Sea Adventure film. Anyone got any good suggestions?

[–]sciz -1 points0 points ago

He was also used as an effective vegetable(spinach) advertising plan for kids.

[–]loljustlol 0 points1 point ago

I once saw brutus throw popeye in a deep swimming pool so hard popeye cracked the concrete at the bottom with his head

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDZGHLOGD3k

[–]oldkingdolan -1 points0 points ago

There needs to be a pop-eye video game. Like a 80-days-around-the-world type theme with arkham city combat and zelda-like puzzles.

[–]Sultan121 1 point2 points ago

Well blow me down!

[–]Indestructavincible -1 points0 points ago

Am I the only one that thinks Popeye might have some hair on his chest?

[–]TURBO-86-CA -1 points0 points ago

Not actually a huge fan but this is a BA picture. Good job.

[–]denverbroncos0024 -1 points0 points ago

i've seen this but it's still really cool.

[–]Billydan225 0 points1 point ago

Lets all stop arguing about the original post and talk about how awesome this pic is

[–]Ampleslacks 0 points1 point ago

He is the definition of salty

[–]FluffedMojo -1 points0 points ago

Popeye should be a playable character in the next God of War.

[–]redlion81 0 points1 point ago

Live near Allen's canning and they have a statue of Popeye out front. They put fence up around it now to keep people from messing with it. I don't have any pictures at hand, but the next time I drive by I will make sure to take a few. I have told my little boy that Popeye was a local and the statue was put up in his honor.

[–]zachw2009 -1 points0 points ago

It is good to see he has recovered well since his stroke

[–]WhiteStallion97 -1 points0 points ago

I just realized why his forearms are so big...

[–]Beats_Women -1 points0 points ago

For once, Facebook is ahead of Reddit.. Who would have guessed?

[–]Priestpwnage -1 points0 points ago

This is fucking awesome

[–]bread_the_bread -1 points0 points ago

[–]Kendown -1 points0 points ago

I'd love to see Olive Oil as a hottie.

[–]IrieGuerilla -1 points0 points ago

[–]farmerfound 1 point2 points ago

Robin Williams never looked so good.

[–]theshowlastnight -1 points0 points ago

Ben Nichols (of Lucero) has the exact same knuckle tattoo (HOLD FAST)

He is also a badass.

They need to revamp this. Popeye was such a cool bad ass. I would really like to see a good video game developed using this art.

[–]Psylink 1 point2 points ago

This makes me wonder, with holly wood cramming old school stuff into movies, why there hasn't been a popeye live action movie yet. I would watch an animated popeye in this art style and more for adults than children.

[–]KurayamiKifuji 0 points1 point ago

He's the reason why I started eating spinach.

[–]CallMeNeo 0 points1 point ago

little did we know that one of our childhood heroes was a womanizing asshole.

[–]unitzer07 0 points1 point ago

he's also a coastie, not a seaman like so many believe.

[–]Cam_Ron21 0 points1 point ago

  • Said Walt Jr.

[–]qwertyertyuiop 0 points1 point ago

I can't find any proof but my dad (a sailor in the navy) always claimed that Popeye was based on a real diver in the 20s or something who was hugely muscular but came up too quickly from a dive and got the bends which is why his body is so weirdly shaped.

[–]jphan1187 0 points1 point ago

He didn't choose the thug life. It chose him.

[–]D_for_David 0 points1 point ago

I would play the shit out of this game

[–]TheTenderOne 0 points1 point ago

they should make a movie featuring this. It would be awesome.

[–]Lukov 0 points1 point ago

Popeye taking on Somali Pirates would be fucking awesome.

[–]stoicspoon 1 point2 points ago

This is how I imagine he would be drawn if he were a character in One Piece.

[–]Foe_Geodude 0 points1 point ago

Wonder what Olive looks like in this world.

[–]Dummies102 0 points1 point ago

omg he's just a giant crab

[–]Carbon_Dirt 0 points1 point ago

Looks like an old white version of Hellboy.

[–]Ajjee1112 0 points1 point ago

[–]Urbanviking1 0 points1 point ago

More like a BAMF.

[–]mulletbum -1 points0 points ago

[–]rspix000 0 points1 point ago

A different perspective

[–]ranovr32 0 points1 point ago

Pretty awesome pic.

I never understood the swallow though. Can someone explain why that is significant please. I know its big in I guess "pop art" type tattoos (is this the right terminology?), but aside from the time period I don't see the relevance.

[–]HiFiWiFiSciFi 1 point2 points ago

Until this day I never knew what I wanted to tattoo on myself.

[–]oz_discustipated 0 points1 point ago

WOW! This is sure different from the Popeye I watched on tv in the 60's! Effin' awesome dude!!

[–]GruffDawg -1 points0 points ago

I think it was determined that his arm had a cancerous tumor in it. It's really the only explanation for its crazy swelling.

[–]cody3004 0 points1 point ago

Those forearms.....

[–]bobbybuttmunch 1 point2 points ago

Damn, spinach! You scary...

[–]MusicGod 0 points1 point ago

[–]nolanator 0 points1 point ago

This wouldn't by chance have anything to do with the Navy's birthday which was just a few days ago, would it?

[–]Sasselhoff 1 point2 points ago

I would watch the hell out of remake that looked like that.

[–]crystaljae 0 points1 point ago

That looks just like Robin Williams

[–]shredsledding 1 point2 points ago

I guess you cant see the detail as well when its the old tv show

[–]blipblipbeep 0 points1 point ago

[–]zeuslovespie 0 points1 point ago

This needs to be a gangplank skin.

[–]Otter_Than_That 0 points1 point ago

I LOVE these illustrations of timeless cartoons like this, the ninja turtles, etc. If anyone could give me links to more or tell me what they are called I would be indebted to them.

[–]Kaileylane 0 points1 point ago

id tap that

[–]roidsrus 0 points1 point ago

I want to play as him in Mortal Kombat.
