that's more reasonnable then strict biblical creationnism. Good for her

she only believes in evolution because the catholic church started to accept it around the 1980's I believe. My dad said she used to believe in creationism when he was a kid. The gif was supposed to be kinda funny and poke fun at the fact that she is only willing to go half way. Sorry you didn't enjoy it, ill try to make a better one next time :)

It's not that I didn't enjoy it, but I'm warry of the tone in this sub. I think our efforts are better directed at the extreme fundies not at middle ground "reasonnable" theists.

well at least you didnt hate it haha, one time she threw a bible at me when I read the da vinci code, wouldn't call that reasonable

Some of the people best fighting the Creationism/Intelligent Design controversy in the US are strictly speaking theistic evolutionists. Ken Miller comes to mind for example.

!

No, because there was no evidence that it was guided. The only possible position then would be that a god set the world in motion, but that kind of god is indistinguishable from one that doesn't exist.

Now someone who gets what my point was!!!!

Thanks.

It's a half-step towards rational thought.

Just to clear this up, My grandma has no proof of this. She only believes in "god guided evolution" because the catholic church does. Before the catholic church supported this she was a creationist. Where I live there are very few christians that are similar to those that live in the southern united states so to me this is kind of flabbergasting.

TL;DNR: My grandma hops on the Catholicism band wagon and throws reason out the window.

parents:God-guided evolution

i think i see a pattern here
