Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

TV shoot. The wire pulling the actor is edited out. Original here close to the bottom of the page.

It never fails to amaze me how quickly someone can call bullshit. Its damn impressive if you ask me.

[–]rasputine 17 points18 points ago

That bot just pulls the top comment from previous reposts of this image.

[–]deadletter 8 points9 points ago

Really? I'm very impressed.

[–]Semajal 3 points4 points ago

Helps when you have already seen it posted a few times.

[–]odonim 5 points6 points ago

Thank you.

[–]gmhlives 1 point2 points ago

Either that, or a ninja is kicking the living fuck out of that fireman.

[–]FlippyDog 4 points5 points ago

there is a firebender in the house

[–]KerriganIskindaHot 2 points3 points ago

As someone who just filed paperwork to begin fireman training ..this is really scary :P Also today I read in the paper that firemen lead much higher risk of getting many different kinds of cancer, should I take the hint and become a programmer instead?:D

[–]treahlol 6 points7 points ago

Now this is fake, but sure firemen put their own life's at risk for someone they've never met before. That's also why I consider them to be one of the last group of heroes who walks this earth.

The most important thing though is to do what you want :D

[–]indyK1ng[!] 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, all the health risks associated with that are negatable if you treat yourself right.

But I will say, you should pick a job you enjoy, not one you feel is safe or will pay well.

[–]junkytrunks 1 point2 points ago

Programmers sit all day and get pretty damned fat and flabby. That is the worst job risk of all...

On the other hand, all of the firemen I know are either full-fledged or borderline alcoholics.

[–]hammeat 2 points3 points ago

If this is real what is the back story.

[–]airmind 8 points9 points ago

it's not

[–]BlueThrow 2 points3 points ago

its from "Chicago fire"

new tv show on nbc

[–]groove_la_chord 2 points3 points ago

Not that I doubt it's from that TV show, but why does the helmet of the fire fighter in the foreground have a Canadian Flag on it?

[–]BlueThrow 0 points1 point ago

[–]apscwannabe -1 points0 points ago

Definitely Canadian flag.

[–]Mmartir1990 -1 points0 points ago

its totally possible. If a fire is restricted of oxygen, and the gases in the house are above flashpoint, and a door or window is opened, you get whats called a "backdraft". Ive heard of doors being blown off hinges an thrown into the street. So a body being thrown like that off an elevated entryway is plausible. (im a fire 1 cert)

[–]Mmartir1990 3 points4 points ago

Although this picture is probably faked. Window seems to be removed, and if the window was there, there would be no way of seeing into it because of the soot

[–]tornadoRadar 3 points4 points ago

Sorry whacker but no. Backdrafts are powerful up close but the force goes mainly around you. Get caught by a door sure it'll hurt but you're not going to get flinged dozens of feet.

source: FF for a decade.

[–]Mmartir1990 2 points3 points ago

Good to know. I guess the instructor lied to make it seem so scary that you wouldnt want to risk it.

[–]tornadoRadar 1 point2 points ago

Uhhh yea the heat is still a problem. You should be trained to know the signs but always want to go in. when the truck rolls up your mindset is go go go go. you're going in no matter what. Its the officers job to grab you by the collar and say not this time.

[–]deejayqueue 2 points3 points ago

Explosions powerful enough to move an equivalent mass to a human body (5'10", 300#+ w/gear) would also destroy it. Like, rip it into tiny pieces.

Doors weigh 20-30lbs. A heavy front door might push 75-80.

Mythbusters just did a similar experiment last season regarding trying to push or heave a person with explosives. Even with more than 50# of C4 -- enough to kill the person several times over -- they couldn't even get him to budge a millimeter. The amount of explosive force necessary to move a human even a foot would turn that person to vapor long before it flung him through space like that.

This reminds me of dwarf fortress

[–]I_will_fix_this 0 points1 point ago
