  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

Seriously though, is it just me or is it a little odd to hate a technology company that makes decent, if overpriced software? Not that I care either way but it just sort of seems weird is all.

Eh, obviously some people like them and most people don't care on Reddit. Still there's a vocal group of people who would care enough to comment or vote when Mac threads come up. They're usually tech people who can work a more powerful, but more complicated, system like Linux/Windows and hate Apple for their closed platform business model.

That and hipsters like Macs, and Reddit hates hipsters and all the things they like.

Macs are decent systems, buying a system for it's aesthetic and design qualities does not make you an idiot. Claiming that Linux and Windows are more powerful than OS X is a joke, OS X comes with a mature kernel and is a solid system easily on-par with typical Linux offerings and has more software compatibility. I won't even mention Windows again.

Disclaimer: I have a tech (telco) job and I rock a Mac. Deal with it.

NASA engineer/programmer here. We almost exclusively use Apple for laptops. Though I think that's mostly because I would only ever use a Thinkpad as a windows laptop, and the US government can't purchase from Lenovo. Could also be that there isn't a decent SVN client for windows.

I think, like you and I, it's not uncommon to find "power users" using Mac's.

I also work Tech for a telco and have a Mac. While I am not a fan of their new "sue everyone" policy for market control, I do like my Mac. I wish more games worked on it though, but between WoW and EVE I have my hands full right now as it is. That's really my only beef.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Attend ANY developer conference, and observe how Apple products outweigh any other vendor – in the hands of both audience and speakers.

I dislike them because they are overpriced and a lack of widely available games. I am not against someone owning one. I am, however, against macheads that buy a mac and expect to play any game ever.

I've enjoyed Deus Ex, GTA and TF2 on my macbook. That's about all I've ever really wanted to play on my PC, as well as a bit of SC from time to time, so I don't think there's too much of a problem with that. Considering there's also COD plus a bunch of other games on OSX I don't see gaming being too much of a problem for casuals like me.

It is nice having a retina display for stuff like this, but clearly this is not why I bought the thing...

Well I just don't like using Macs. However, I also think it's pretty crappy that now you can't replace any parts yourself. I also don't like their money grubbing attitude, not that they are alone in that.
