Upvoted for congratulations, commented because Ugly Americans is amazing. Do you have something else lined up already or are you job hunting now?

[–]B0und[S] 39 points40 points ago

I've got a job much closer to home (before I worked in the city, I live in the burbs) doing CAD. I know little about it, but the company I'm going to is giving me a significant pay increase, along with training and a lot of responsibility. I feel like the luckiest guy in the UK (possibly the entire western world) right now. Thanks for the congratulations dude. I'll be honest. I feel fucking amazing.

[–]Goldmattress 9 points10 points ago

I think you're bound to do a good job.

[–]prospectre 1 point2 points ago

I get it!

[–]Commisar 0 points1 point ago

good for you, and that show is great :)

[–]prospectre 0 points1 point ago

Congrats to you, sir! I've wanted to be that koala for a while now, however I need the money and I don't have enough experience to guarantee a ship to jump to >_>

[–]aaybma 0 points1 point ago

He should also see one of our Ent's for good measure

[–]torontonian13 20 points21 points ago

But in reality you quietly packed your stuff and left the office.

[–]al0newestand 13 points14 points ago

As opposed to actually exploding his office and killing everyone in it?

[–]ahobbledehoy 3 points4 points ago

and also being a koala bear man

[–]jammerjoint 1 point2 points ago

A cigarette would never burn hot enough to light the gasoline, which wouldn't really light properly anyway unless mixed properly with the air (vaporized to a degree).

[–]FlyingPasta 0 points1 point ago

Glad that was cleared up.

[–]derekdanger 5 points6 points ago

You should get a new job easy. I would pay a koala large sums of money for just sitting in a tree and being adorable. Qualifications needed? Being an adorable fuckin koala.

[–]CallTheOptimist 8 points9 points ago

He already is perfect for the job. All the right Koalafications!

[–]SRS_are_cunts 3 points4 points ago

As someone who used to be a hotel administrator, I feel you.

Stuck around for two years only because of my co-workers.

[–]eric0rr 0 points1 point ago

I like your username. There are few truths are held to a such high esteem.

[–]gahvandure 3 points4 points ago

I loved that show. Thought it was consistently clever.

[–]xeothought 6 points7 points ago

This gif is just that much better when you know the Ugly Americans reference haha

[–]brianbrianbrian -2 points-1 points ago

Did the koala leave his underpaid miserable job too?

[–]InsertWityUsername 2 points3 points ago

As a fellow underpaid Administrator for eight years, congratulations, and I envy you.

[–]Cyberpork 1 point2 points ago

Good luck.

[–]Zcypot 1 point2 points ago

Grats bro! This might be possibly me depending on how my boss is. I took my friends spot, he was getting paid well, but he said if they dont treat me well he will find me another job.... I guess they will keep on his good side. crosses fingers

[–]Shazaam613 0 points1 point ago

[–]pabosaki 1 point2 points ago

Congratulations sir, hoping to make similar moves soon :)

[–]theowest 0 points1 point ago

[–]ashleyinthecold 0 points1 point ago

Future me...? Is that you?

[–]jdon1807 1 point2 points ago

I don't know where this gif is from? I love that it's a Koala.

[–]Sogemplow 0 points1 point ago

I too, would like to know

[–]layer555 0 points1 point ago

Does it bother anyone else that a cigarette doesn't burn hot enough to ignite gasoline?

[–]iCatxo 0 points1 point ago

Badass Koala.

[–]Selfmindead 1 point2 points ago

Just curious, what were your job responsibilities and what was your hourly wage or yearly salary?

[–]captstix 0 points1 point ago

Good luck.

[–]CarlFromAccounting 0 points1 point ago

Congrats. Fuck corporate America. Fuck that. I got fired from a corporate job, was told (for some reason) that I was ineligible for unemployment from some Israeli man and took a job selling DirecTV installations for 100 bucks commission. Fuck that, man. I got underpaid for 6 months and i'm done.

2 of my customers I'm watching this basically happen.

Customer 1 had a GM who basically ran the business. He'd be on the road getting new customers. He'd keep everyone doing their job but he's also extremely empathic and sometimes he'd see one of his people down in the dumps and he'd know exactly how much he needed to do to get them into a 'great day' For example I was there fixing a win 98 machine which couldn't auth to the domain. We were talking because I was hitting a wall and he saw a lady coming along and you could tell she was pissed off because she had to deal with a couple idiot drivers. His way to turn that around... call her an angel and beautiful. I add in, 'a beautiful arch angel about to strike down a pair of drivers.' She turned right around like instantly and that's all it took.

Well this guy was dealing with various issues at the current job. Owner was trying to sell the place but his books had been getting 'fixed' and he needed to keep them from finding out so the owner wanted him to stop working so hard and take a pay cut. For example... 60 year old building whose mortgage just doesn't seem to ever pay off... to a bank that google isn't aware of.

Except when he stopped get out on the road to get new business... business drops to a dead stop. The potential new owners come in and are looking at things and they see that this GM is paid way more then anyone else in the business short of the owner. They start talking about how they want to let him go because there's no way he's worth that much $. They are literally telling him this directly. Well what do you do if you're him? You go find a new job. Well the new owners suddenly notice... wait nobody is actually working here. Why? They find out it's the GM who holds everything together and keeps work rolling in.

So current owner and potential owners are both then going to him telling him to get back to work, He tells them, 'Well you were speaking that you wanted to lay me off so I found another job.' They offer him the sky but he had the 'enough is enough' event.

He has now taken over for this other business several months ago and my god the business was successful and sustainable before.. they are doing ridiculously well. My other customer? Their potential new owners RAN and the owner learnt he had to go into the business and make heads roll things were pretty bad for awhile with lots of infighting looking to take over the GM position and the owner stomped all over it.

Can't light gasoline with a cigarette. Really!

[–]jargoon 0 points1 point ago

Haha, this matched up perfectly with the Man With The Iron Fists soundtrack:

http://open.spotify.com/track/45zqpfrQ2zZHUKNYCHpKwL

The track was at about 0:45 when I opened the gif

[–]darmon 0 points1 point ago

This post vindicates my stereotype that 95% of redditors have poorly paid IT jobs or are unemployed and looking for an IT job.

[–]atlusblue 0 points1 point ago

can I have your old job?

[–]Tails94 -2 points-1 points ago

Man next time you repost a gif please at least try to think of a new title instead of basically copying the last guy.

[–]deja-vu-comment -2 points-1 points ago

Alright...who's the jackass who filled the water tower up with gasoline?
