Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

It's an extremely detailed miniature diorama by a sculptor. I have forgotten who did it, I've seen them before. This artist's work deserves to be credited, instead of tossed around the internet without attribution.

As a photographer whose work is freely available to see on flickr and has had his photos copied and posted on Imgur I'm in complete agreement. For fucks sake, they could have just linked to the OC (in both cases).

Yes, I would have loved to give credit if I had information about the source. I saw the photo on Imgur and wanted to share. There was no credit information. I didn't even re-upload the photo, I just grabbed the Imgur link and posted it here.

As a photographer and artist myself, I don't create because of the credit. I create for the sake of art itself. I would want my work to be shared all over the place. Likewise, I didn't make this post "for the karma". I'm of the opinion that Reddit karma is like the points in Who's Line Is It Anyway.

Perhaps that's because I'm not a professional artist trying to make a living with this and I have a full-time job. And maybe I'm a little too romantic in my perspective, but it is what it is.

When source information is not available, what do you advise? Is it best to not share an artist's works because you can't properly attribute it? Maybe I should've said "Artist unknown" or "No source information available".

I would love to know who did this and their other work. Just stunning.

I did a search and found the artist: Lori Nix.

Thanks for finding this!

Ah, you know I thought it might be a miniature.

You could do what I did. Try looking for other sources of the image with Google Image Search. You can give Google the URL of the image, and it will find other sites displaying that image. Usually the original artist's site will rank highly and be obvious.

I did not know that! Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I know it's not really an abandoned library, but it's still pretty cool. I like to imagine it's some town that got bombed and everyone died and/or left the town. Or maybe a nuclear accident.
