Anticonsumption

Anticon is a sub for all things relevant to disagreeing with current consumption practices.

Here are a few examples of practices that are safe to politely criticize here:

  • Consumerism

  • Planned Obsolescence

  • Ineffeciency

  • Marketing, Advertising, and Branding

  • Unsustainable Practices

  • Exploitation of People for Profit

  • Conspicuous Consumption

  • Intellectual Property Exploitation

  • And many more.

You don't have to disagree with all of these practices to be welcome here. Polite discourse disagreeing with some people's idea of what anticonsumption is and means is always welcome.

Criticizing other users for their lifestyle is rude and won't be tolerated. This sort of behaviour stifles discussion. It makes people feel nervous about posting and chases away other opinions. Of course everyone could ALWAYS consume less. Change people's minds by role-modelling not hassling and nitpicking over their choices.

Wait, so is this supposed to be an anti-Apple store or something?

More dollars than sense is the expression.

See, now that's actually clever.

And then there's the rest of the world that doesn't use dollars and cents as their primary currency.

This store appears to be somewhere in Asia.

It sounds like a pretty global term when I check the definitions.

Dollar - The basic monetary unit of the US, Canada, Australia, and certain countries in the Pacific, Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America

Cents - A monetary unit of the US, Canada, and various other countries, equal to one hundredth of a dollar, euro, or other decimal currency unit

Though perhaps it's less common outside of North America.

That makes cents.

I wasn't criticizing. It's brilliant, what they did. It's just that the original expression is funnier.
