My philosophy always was and still is, why study 1 or 2 days before a test for hours and hate yourself. If you can't learn the stuff along the way by doing it, then a few hours the night before won't make much of a difference.

I understand that my statement is offensive. That's okay. You would agree: honesty trumps most things.

It's not about science... It's about rigor. I received stellar grades in Lit for a level of effort that literally would not merit a passing grade in science classes. This is not indicative of the value of these subjects... its an indictment of the expectations of certain departments.

Great writers are largely ignored today... because shitty writers are not.

The material isn't why I wouldn't pass, the teacher is. She is a terrible teacher that takes pleasure in making sure that the student fails or has an incredibly hard time making the grade to pass (a C) . I expected the test to be incredibly hard, along the lines of "What color were the serpents eyes in Gilgamesh?". I didn't study because I was sure I would fail anyway, then I went in and heard her boast about her test. I got the test and was incredibly relieved and then I passed that shit with flying colors. Stop raining on my parade.

There is a difference between studying and doing coursework. I go to school for journalism and coursework for me is finding stories and interviewing people, and that of course does take some effort. However, some of my classes like law and politics only require paying attention.

I agree that certain classes require little to no studying to do well. Journalism and English would definitely fit into that category as well as a several others.

Usually these types of classes don't have a whole lot of tests, or if they do, they don't make up as large or a portion of your overall grade. Most of the effort in those types of classes is going to be spent writing papers or doing other assignments.

If you tried to take a class where your grade was 100% based on tests and you never studied, you would probably not do very well. Even "easier" classes like political science require a little studying to do well.

As much enjoyment as that brought me nothing ever touched my last cs class. I stopped taking cs at my school because I felt if the teacher can't operate his projector he shouldn't be teaching cs. Anyway after two weeks i said no this isn't happening. I couldn't drop the course without losing my full time status. So I simply stopped gong assuming I'd get the f and repeat it with another better professor later.

The semester concluded and i hadn't even went to the final exam session. I got my grades and much to my surprise I had a 3.0/4.0 for that course. The kicker that professor was the department head.

The most memorable test this happened with was in my junior year for US History. Slept through half the movie about whatever decade the course was over, took notes for less than half of the lecture while the girl next to me had notes for almost everything. Day of the test she asked if I had notes from the movie I slept through. Told her that I didn't. Took the test. I got 100% she got 50%.

what about my first environmental science test? I got a 105% on it without even picking up the book. EDIT: High school, and it's a class for rednecks, but I like science so I took it anyways.
