Guidelines

  1. This is a place of support. Abuse, pro-suicide comments, tough love, discussion of suicide methods, religious proselytizing, trolling or incitement to self harm or violence in a comment or PM, is strictly forbidden and can result in a ban. If you see anything like this in a post, comment or PM, please message the moderators.

  2. Please note that we are NOT a hotline! We don't have the ability to trace the source of any posts, and we can't guarantee immediate responses.

  3. We are here to provide non-judgemental peer support ONLY. It's fine to share what worked for you, but DO NOT advocate any specific therapy, or medication, especially street drugs or alcohol, and DO NOT diagnose people. Philosophical discussion about suicide belongs in /r/philosophy or /r/suicidology. If you're here to help please respond to our OPs in need. "Advertising" yourself as a helper does more harm than good and posts of this nature will be removed.

  4. Please do not post or publicly request contact information! Click here to learn why this is a bad idea.

  5. Our users need to be protected. Therefore posts and comments that violate these guidelines WILL be moderated. If your post is removed for this reason, please edit it and re-submit, as we DO still want to talk to you.

  6. If you need help but don't feel comfortable making a post for any reason, please use the link below to message the moderators. We will be glad to talk with you privately, or help in any other way that we can.

"Don't kill yourself, apply for a job at Careerbuilder.com!" I don't get it.

It'll probably be seen predominantly by office workers who are tired of their jobs, not by people at actual risk of suicide. So, the idea of the ad is that rather than jumping (i.e. because of your shitty job), you should get a new one.

A lot of people are being negative on this subreddit.

Guys, it's just a sign. It's trying. We're all trying. If I see a new post, I comment. You try, that's what important. One attempt could save a life.

Suicide has become so prevalent, you can make real money of it!

Seeing that would make me jump for the bus out of pure, unfiltered SPITE.
