Hahaha, I'll forgive them because that's hilarious.

Miguel Gonzalez is really one of the stories of the seasons for the Orioles. Dude has ice water in his veins.

[–]Baltimore Oriolescptcliche 42 points43 points ago

If, in April, you would've told me that Miguel Gonzalez was gonna start the pivotal game 3 for us in the ALDS against the Yankees in New York, I would've said, "Huh? No, he's a reliever. And we traded him to Texas last year for Pedro Strop. And his name is Mike, not Miguel. Don't be racist."

Then you would've said, "No, Miguel Gonzalez is a starter who we signed in March. He was with the Red Sox before that. He's in Triple A right now. I know we'd never have Mike Gonzalez on our team again, much less starting a playoff game for us. Don't be stupid. I'm smarter than you."

And then I would've been embarrassed...

When I saw his name as M. Gonzalez on the Orioles depth chart, I honest to god thought they had converted Mike Gonzalez to a starter. Then I realized he wasn't on the O's anymore.

I am so glad Davey Johnson brought him out during Beltway series. Felt good to boo him.

[–]Pittsburgh PiratesSpoonbread -1 points0 points ago

Thats what you get for getting a closer from the Pirates. We make all of them look good because they almost never see work. What even happened to him?

[–]musicman835 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for McClouth as well!

[–]Atlanta Braves AlternateCuphat 5 points6 points ago

The fact that Nate McClouth is playing playoff baseball boggles my mind.

[–]New York YankeesMutantNinjaSquirtle 1 point2 points ago

And batting leadoff. Also there's only 1 C in his name.

[–]Atlanta Braves AlternateCuphat 2 points3 points ago

He doesn't deserve proper spelling of his name. :V

[–]New York YankeesMutantNinjaSquirtle 1 point2 points ago

Fair enough. :V

[–]Baltimore Oriolescptcliche 0 points1 point ago

And playing well too!

[–]Lambchops_Legion 0 points1 point ago

Sean Burnett worked out pretty well for the Nats.

[–]New York Yankeesqetuio 0 points1 point ago

Yankees will make any pitcher look like 2001 Curt Schilling. Our batters are that awful in the postseason.

[–]Riker87 28 points29 points ago

TBS very funny

[–]culby 24 points25 points ago

Nobody told me Jon Gruden started calling baseball. "I TELL YOU, THIS GUY RIGHT HERE..."

[–]Pittsburgh PiratesSpoonbread 14 points15 points ago

This guy here can throw the ball. And when I say throw, I mean throw.

[–]IHaveAFunnyUsername 20 points21 points ago

I mean, they're not wrong

[–]New York YankeesOther_World 15 points16 points ago

I loved the graphic in game one "Carl Ripken Jr"

Who?

[–]PhotoNate -1 points0 points ago

That's inexcusable. There are two Cal Ripkens that meant a lot to Baltimore. One is (IMHO) the greatest player of my youth. That's just insulting.

[–]New York YankeesOther_World 4 points5 points ago

I agree. It was very disrespectful, that said since it was just one letter off I'm willing to be it was a typo. I don't mean to make excuses but that's probably the case.

[–]SouthernDerpfornia 15 points16 points ago

Kinda like when John Smoltz said something last night along the lines of "right now, he just needs to breath, and make a pitch"

[–]RightToBaerArms 11 points12 points ago

He only really needed to do one of those things.

[–]Minnesota Twinsvikesfanben28 7 points8 points ago

This is about five times funnier if you read it in Jim Gaffigan's voice.

[–]acquiesce213 5 points6 points ago

They then went on to explain who he is and show multiple clips of his performances.

[–]Oakland Athleticsfapfrican 4 points5 points ago

Blew my mind.

[–]goalstopper28 7 points8 points ago

Oh that guy...

[–]St. Louis Cardinalsda_choppa 6 points7 points ago

Still can't beat Fox Sports Midwest's profile on Minor League Guy

[–]Willkins88 3 points4 points ago

"Don't be that guy." It is nice to finally put a face to "that guy". Now if only we could find the "that's what she said," girl.

[–]purplepenned 2 points3 points ago

So helpful...

[–]kewlperfume 1 point2 points ago

I wish Fox carried the games instead. I don't have cable.

[–]Boston Red SoxNick3570 1 point2 points ago

Still better than Fox analysis

[–]San Francisco Giantsclairebomb 0 points1 point ago

I hate tbs so much.

[–]New York Metsblastbeatz -2 points-1 points ago

It's TBS trying to karma whore!

[–]zzerTrezz 0 points1 point ago

Why can't TBS hire the team and staff of whichever teams are playing and have two separate broadcasts that are aired based on location.

[–]SHINE09 8 points9 points ago

What about the fans that are not vested to either team?

For national playoff broadcasts you need an unbiased broadcast.

Hiring a few stats guys from each team might not be a horrible idea.

[–]sargeantb2 5 points6 points ago

It's cheaper to not do that?

[–]Cincinnati RedsboomanXU[S] -1 points0 points ago

They must have the top statisticians on T.V.

[–]PhotoNate -3 points-2 points ago

TBS could literally be sucking ARods dick while jerking off the Steinbrenners and still have a more balanced coverage. Holy shit

[–]goron 1 point2 points ago

You kidding? Former Oriole Cal Ripken and Yankee-hater/bitter about game five of '96 WS Smoltz? They have talked about ARod's stuggles the whole series. Plus, Smoltz must always call Andy Pettitte's pickoff move a balk. Also, they just went on and on with the "Yankee Stadium is a bandbox" thing.

I'm not saying they were blatantly favoring the Orioles, I just think you're crazy to think those announcers have a pro-Yankee bias.

Edit: Oh yea, and this graphic was a joke. They gave tons of praise to Gonzalez for his start and his season.

[–]aallzz 1 point2 points ago

That's insane. They've been talking about A-Rod being bad in the postseason cause he's 1 for double-digits at bat. I know there's the argument that he delivers in the clutch, but he certainly didn't last game, and he got pulled out so Ibanez could take care of the O's today.

This entire series any time that the orioles have fucked up, like that bad slide into second this game or the badly played fly into center this game, the fuck up was discussed well into the next inning.

Tonight when the pitcher hip-checked Texiera and fucked up the pop and then immediately after bobbled the grounder before getting the out it was never mentioned again.

TBS is playing to the team with a larger share of the market who are watching, I understand, I just wish they'd stop fellating the yankees for long enough to admit that both teams are missing opportunities because they're well qualified clubs playing in the playoffs so the games are going to be back and forth. Obviously I have a bias here but hearing the announcers you'd think you're hearing a YES broadcast rather than an objective broadcast.

[–]goron 1 point2 points ago

I don't know what you're trying to say about A-Rod.

Also, while they did mention a few times that Jones misplayed the ball by taking a first step in, they called it Jeter's "wind-aided" triple for the rest of the game during their bullshit about "jet streams." Yea, we get it. Yankee Stadium produces more homers.

The next half inning after the collision on the mound and the near screw up on the following play was the bottom of the 12th with the walk-off. They didn't really have much time.

And they've been talking about the Yankees struggles with RISP (those missed opportunities) on every major media outlet including TBS ad nauseum.

I don't think there is a clear bias in either direction. I just think they are shitty announcers and John Smoltz thinks he knows all the answers. Cal isn't bad.

[–]yrogerg123 -1 points0 points ago

Too soon.
