I suppose it may be possible to do it where you had like alcohol on fire so that it fell similarly to water?

You'd have to do lots of calibrations... it would take weeks to get it right!

Mostly it's that the alcohol liquid itself isn't flammable, it's the vapor that is. There are upper and lower flammability limits to worry about, and you're burning your fuel (which is rather expensive) so you can't just pump it back up, you have to worry about getting more. Also, which kind of alcohol are you going to use? I assume you mean ethanol (good ol' booze), but there are plenty of other flammable molecules with an -OH functional group hanging off a carbon, and those all have different properties...

Oh, and safety. Pfft, whatever.

edit: it seems like the swing is made to actually pump water. i found some photos (here) and they show that it's an experimental energy concept.

It's my understanding that it is basically just reclaimed sewer water with much less filtration than the 'potable' water piped to your sinks. Also, when I spray anything with my hose it literally creates a soapy, sudsy, bubble-like substance and that's the same water the sprinkler system uses. I don't know what the fuck is not filtered out that IS filtered out in the sink water, but that shit cray. So, no, I wouldn't recommend it.

For most houses (in the US at least), you've only got one water supply line coming in, so the water coming out of your hose is likely the same treated water coming out of your sink faucet.

It's cheaper and easier to just treat that extra water than to run a second set of water lines everywhere.

Larger commercial properties sometimes have other systems that collect water for irrigation, such as rain water collection. I building I recently finished collects the condensate from the air conditioning system and stores it in large tanks under the building.

Maybe it's just because I live on a golf course that the irrigation system is much more extensive.... But they are separate lines for us at least.

Unless it's built on a natural spring and the swinging motion is actually drawing water from the spring which is then harnessed and added to the run-off water that will be recycled into usable water.

It's a proof on concept to show creative water pumping methods. The motion of the swings is physically pumping water. Set one of these bad boys up over a well and tell the kids to get to work! It's not the most Las Vegas swingset you've ever seen, it's a tool for poor people.
