We are... CAPTAINNNNNN ANUSSSSSSSSSS

[–]veisc2 2 points3 points ago

now that is a fucking good joke

[–]youguysgonnamakeout 4 points5 points ago

I came here to comment on that. What if it was still a rejection letter? How much of a dick move would it be?

[–]shitjustaintcray 36 points37 points ago

Anything x-posted from r/mildlyinteresting is gonna be good.

[–]Farisr9k 17 points18 points ago

It's almost always more interesting than what's in r/pics.

[–]vijrox 10 points11 points ago

Because there's a requirement for things there to be interesting to some degree.

[–]Farisr9k 5 points6 points ago

Interesting point

[–]Sivle78 1 point2 points ago

Don't you mean a mildly interesting point?

[–]ahmonsters 58 points59 points ago

5 years ago, I also got an acceptance letter to St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Mine was in a plastic champagne bottle: still the coolest piece of mail I've ever gotten

[–]DaBearsDaBears 17 points18 points ago

Last year I got the plastic champagne bottle for my acceptance letter from them too! I guess they changed it up this year.

[–]watermelonmeowmeow 3 points4 points ago

They give the high priority students the pill bottles. Like those first years in physics.

[–]Karma_Anemic 13 points14 points ago

University At Buffalo School of Pharmacy student checking in. We don't get cool mail... as a matter of fact I didn't get any mail. Got my acceptance via e-mail... not gonna lie, more than a little jealous. Still, UB kicks ass. Nowhere where I'd rather be.

[–]dustmote 1 point2 points ago

Hey, I technically found out I was accepted to my university through text message.

I was really confused, but it was a fuck-up on their end, they set up the texting system while people's letters were still in the mail. It sent all the accepted kids really confusing texts about signing up for some reception through an accepted students website. My letter arrived a few days after I had called admissions and checked into it.

[–]diabolotry 0 points1 point ago

Never got an acceptance letter. Got a bill, so I knew I was in.

[–]VotePizzaParty 1 point2 points ago

I guess alcohol is an effective anxiolytic...

[–]davick 2 points3 points ago

I got the same bottle in 06 - they actually sent me two....Thank god I got out of that place after a year.

[–]FUZZINATOR 0 points1 point ago

This might be one of the most awesome things I've seen on Reddit ever. STLCOP needs it's own subreddit now.

[–]errn825 73 points74 points ago

He's going to need about 5 of those filled with anxiolitics to make it through.

In all seriousness, congrats to him

[–]PoodlesFitInBlenders 15 points16 points ago

He's gonna need to sell about 5 of those filled with Percocet to pay for it all.

[–]errn825 10 points11 points ago

It's STL. They hand out money like candy

[–]sanels 14 points15 points ago

I'm from STL, where is this money being handed out like candy i must know? Actually they don't hand out candy anywhere anyway so i guess finding free candy would be just as hard as finding the money =\

[–]BiggityBates 1 point2 points ago

You must not work for the Government....

[–]mrbucket777 1 point2 points ago

Head to the Murphy building in East St Louis and climb through one of the broken windows and some dude inside will help you with that free money.

[–]sanels 3 points4 points ago

east st.louis, not even once....

[–]WiiAreMarshall 5 points6 points ago

I wish this were true.

[–]go_boy 0 points1 point ago

Who hands out candy?

[–]streeter5000 57 points58 points ago

[–]plyons89 20 points21 points ago

I don't know that cocaine would be the best choice if you're anxious and stressed out. Sympathetic nervous system overload. Increased heart rate, BP, chance of MI, etc.

Poor Henry.

[–]Professor_ZombieKill 1 point2 points ago

That's not cocaine. It's crystal meth!

[–]StormVader 16 points17 points ago

I don't think that's an acceptance letter. That is just their normal "Come join our college" letter. I should know, I got one too.

[–]basshead23 2 points3 points ago

Came here to say this. Several of my friends that went to pharmacy school got these but none if them even applied there.

[–]ketchupgoddess 1 point2 points ago

Yeah I got one of those years ago too when I was looking at colleges.

[–]katyrow 0 points1 point ago

Me too.

[–]red321red321 150 points151 points ago

Acceptance letter in a bottle

[–]trackkid31 11 points12 points ago

should make it "acceptance in a bottle" ,"acceptance letter" is too long IMO

[–]TheBunnyTheBear 4 points5 points ago

"Acceptance in a bottle" sounds very alcoholic.

[–]skittles762 12 points13 points ago

Any more songs like that and you'll be walking on the moon.

[–]TheJack38 6 points7 points ago

The moon?

[–]skittles762 1 point2 points ago

It's another song by the police.

[–]Farisr9k 3 points4 points ago

Might as well be walking on the sun.

[–]errantphotons 0 points1 point ago

That or a canary in a coalmine. Truth hits everybody, put a hole in their life & they'll see an invisible sun. Spirits in the material world sure won't stand so close to me again

... De do do do, de da da da

[–]JohnScribbles 15 points16 points ago

That means the diploma will be printed on the receipt for his loan amount owed, right?

[–]phoenixphaerie 8 points9 points ago

With a starting salary in the 100k's, he'll be paying it down quickly.

[–]Robincognito 4 points5 points ago

Why are pharmacists paid so well? Genuinely curious.

[–]RxIntern5 15 points16 points ago

6 to 8 years of grueling school work, having to insure patients don't receive the wrong medication (which could kill them), and dealing with asshats daily if working in retail.

[–]beatriceboxcar 7 points8 points ago

A friend of mine who went to pharmacy school in NY said that something crazy, like only a quarter or a third of the freshman will actually get their pharmacy degree. She also worked harder in school than any two other people I knew combined. But yes, she did buy herself a sports car as a graduation gift.

[–]davick 4 points5 points ago

As a pharmacy school dropout from STLCOP, I can confirm that turnover rate.

[–]Karma_Anemic 1 point2 points ago

At the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy the graduation rate is almost 100%, but getting in is hell. Glad to be here now though.

[–]Karma_Anemic 2 points3 points ago

Depends on the School. The more demanding to get in, the higher the grad rate. When my parents when to Pharm school the first thing the dean said to them was "look left, look right, one of you isn't gonna make it." Now a days, I'm in the same pharm school and they're more demanding of their candidates. Dean comes in first day and says, "look left, look right, you're probably gonna marry one of those 2 people." I was sitting next to 2 dudes, it bummed me out a bit.

[–]beatriceboxcar 0 points1 point ago

They same the same thing at any school. I was talking specifically about a pharmacy degree.

[–]ZEB1138 1 point2 points ago

Yeah. I'm in my 4th year of 6 right now. My class is about hall of it's original size. For those who make it past 3rd year, my school claims to have a 98% retention rate. So, if you make it the first three years, you generally make it the last three. 4th year is rough, though. I'm learning the most important and interesting stuff I've ever learned, but they exam schedule is crazy. Generally have 2 exams every week. I'm lucky if I only have 1 test in a week.

[–]aGATORnamedERIC 0 points1 point ago

That's crazy high to me. I'm in my 3rd year at UF, and I can really only speak for my campus (there are 4, totaling about 280 students) that of the 52 or 53 that started, only 1 has completely dropped out of pharmacy school, and 4 are still in pharmacy school but won't be graduating with the rest us.

[–]raging_asshole 0 points1 point ago

Ensure = to make sure of

Insure = to cover with insurance

So I guess technically they have to do both, but I think you meant the former.

[–]cheerbearsmiles 0 points1 point ago

Then how come Target Pharmacy and CVS Pharmacy have both given me incorrect medications in the past?

[–]Karma_Anemic 3 points4 points ago

Fun fact: there's more to being a pharmacist than filling bottles with the right number of the right pill. It's a large combination of people skills, problem solving, and science. Also, pharmacists have to be diagnosticians to a degree seeing as how people will much sooner go bother the pharmacist at the corner store to get free advice on their own time than make an appointment with a doctor and pay him for it. Also also, the role of pharmacists is expanding everyday, pretty soon we'l be writing scripts ourselves.

[–]ZEB1138 1 point2 points ago

Some already do. One of my professors works in ambulatory care at the VA and he can write scripts. Also, those working on Indian Reservations can, as well. The nice thing about working on a Reservation is that the Government pays off your student loans while you work there. It's kind of a post-grad scholarship you apply for.

[–]Taliesintroll 4 points5 points ago

And illegible to boot.

[–]Karma_Anemic 1 point2 points ago

Those are doctors, not pharmacists.

[–]gasfarmer 2 points3 points ago

As someone who worked in a Pharmacy throughout highschool - Pharmacists are worse.

[–]Karma_Anemic 3 points4 points ago

As someone who is in pharmacy school now I respectfully disagree... still, we're moving towards e-prescribing for a reason. Eliminate handwriting, eliminate a large source of confusion that leads to med errors

[–]kornadian 9 points10 points ago

Good news, It's a suppository.

[–]NinjaViking 12 points13 points ago

Suppositories aren't supposed to go in your head.

[–]falcon16 8 points9 points ago

Shout out from another St. Louisan!

[–]coffeenocream 2 points3 points ago

We're everywhere! My parents both went to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy back in the 70's.

[–]reddit_brats_suck 1 point2 points ago

STLCOP in da house! My girlfriend went there.

[–]Kayin_Angel 7 points8 points ago

[–]LEGEN_waitforit_DARY 6 points7 points ago

Hot Chick

[–]fattmable 0 points1 point ago

it was rob snyders "the hot chick"

[–]brad95 6 points7 points ago

Living 25 minutes away from stlcop is kinda cool because southern illinois folk dont get much attention here on reddit. almost decided to go there oddly enough, glad i didnt now though(unrelated to the bottle)

[–]reddit_brats_suck 3 points4 points ago

s. illinoisan here too. :) yo! viva belle vegas!

[–]darthideut 2 points3 points ago

You from Belleville? I live in Shiloh.

[–]Terminal_Illness 2 points3 points ago

Swansea reporting in!

[–]reddit_brats_suck 0 points1 point ago

well, i've been from belleville, but then it turned into shiloh, and now i'm in fairview.

[–]PepperAnn90 9 points10 points ago

I work down the street from STLCOP...never knew they were actually cool.

[–]enfersinge 35 points36 points ago

I went there. They are not.

[–]aliceinnarnia 1 point2 points ago

My friend said the cafeteria there was the quietest she'd ever been in. ): A surprisingly solid bad sign, if you ask me.

[–]davick 2 points3 points ago

It was essentially a library that you could eat in.

[–]apuchu1 0 points1 point ago

This is so true, I'm a current student and the only time I have as a break is when I eat or browse reddit before class

[–]yourbathroom 0 points1 point ago

How dare you!?!

[–]jonjon02 1 point2 points ago

I live right down the street. My buddy is an adjunct professor there and speaks highly of the school. I guess they're as cool as a school like that could actually be.

[–]rahntwo 5 points6 points ago

Yeah, my friend who works as a pharmacist at a walmart in texas makes $74.00 an hour.

[–]Moregunsthanpatience 7 points8 points ago

That's only $15-20 less than my attendings make in the ER, and you don't have to deal with poop, vomit, death, abscesses, etc. I'm the drug guru in my department, and I'd love to do pharmacy, but being colorblind has already hindered chem plenty as an undergrad.

[–]LAWLstudent_ 2 points3 points ago

Pharmacists make $150,000/year?

[–]reddit_brats_suck 1 point2 points ago

my local walgreens pharm told me that they hire on brand new grads starting at 90k.

[–]phoenixphaerie 5 points6 points ago

I have 3 pharmacists in my immediate family (both parents and one sibling), as well as pharmacists sprinkled through my extended family.

Your friend just took the first step towards being one paid sonuvabitch.

[–]Cambridge_ 4 points5 points ago

Go Cards!

[–]fetalpig 11 points12 points ago

My dad is a pharmacist. He always told me he would support any career I chose, unless it was pharmacy. Fuck Walgreens.

http://imgur.com/cHPzv

[–]Anthem26 8 points9 points ago

Well that's because dealing with insurance and raging customers suck.

[–]dont_knockit 4 points5 points ago

My first job was as a clerk in a pharmacy and I can confirm this. Insurance woes were a large portion of what the pharmacists spent time dealing with. And they have no control over it -the insurance cos fuck with people but the pharmacists are the ones who have to see the faces when they tell them that they have to pay $750 or go without. Again and again. They also usually had 12 hour shifts. But I understand they make very good money and have good job security.

[–]GallifreyKangaroo 1 point2 points ago

I was a pharmacy tech for eight years and dealing with insurance always fell to me, but I worked at an independent drug store most of that time.

[–]Moregunsthanpatience 5 points6 points ago

I work in an ER. Several of our staff are former pharm techs and a couple have pharmacist parents. The consensus is that if you can survive a few years of emergency without strangling someone, pharmacy would be a cake walk.

Med/surg and critical care are great fallbacks for either though. The one day I filled in for ICU, I was doing jumping jacks in the med room to stay awake.

[–]phoenixphaerie 3 points4 points ago

My dad is also a pharmacist. He also works for Walgreens. He enjoys it, but then he's been working there for nearly 30 years now, which allows him to be an ass to customers. A privilege he exercises often.

[–]Karma_Anemic 0 points1 point ago

Did you know that your image is absolutely false?.. would be funny though. Real generic name is Sildenafil for the lazy.

[–]itsMalarky 1 point2 points ago

My father's a judge, he told me the same thing about law.

[–]Trapped_in_Reddit 15 points16 points ago

Did it come with a prescription for adderall?

[–]mirshe 17 points18 points ago

The rejection ones come with enough painkillers to kill yourself!

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points ago

Oh sweet I gotta start applying.

[–]ZEB1138 5 points6 points ago

I'm in pharmacy school now (4th year) and amphetamines are, by far, the most highly abused substance among the student population.

[–]TheGoomba 2 points3 points ago

I went to college for music and programming. Adderall was used by almost everyone. For a lot of things. Studying being #1, but I had kids snort it in my bathroom at parties, and a few friends who did it to stay up playing video games. As a music student the second most abused drug was Beta Blockers. Nervous performance majors trying to take the edge off of juries.

[–]ZEB1138 1 point2 points ago

The thing about amphetamines is that if you want them, you can get a prescription for them. It's really not hard to get a doctor to write you a scrip for one. I don't understand why people feel the need to get them illegally.

I don't use them because I plan in going Navy and I don't want a history if ADD on my medical record.

[–]TheGoomba 2 points3 points ago

I have ADHD, have since I was 8 or so. I've had an adderall script that I'm SUPPOSED to take for a long time, so it was really weird seeing all these people WANTING to take it. I never sold; absolutely refused to. It was even weirder having to abandon people I used to consider friends because they thought I was an asshole for not selling.

But, yeah, I bet it's about as hard as walking in and saying "man, I can never seem to focus on anything for more than a few minutes"

[–]ZEB1138 1 point2 points ago

I have a lot of respect for you for not selling your Adderall. It also takes a lot of guts to stand up to your friends like that.

[–]Patecatl 1 point2 points ago

You've got red on you.

[–]Farisr9k 0 points1 point ago

Stealing this to tell people on reddit that I hate them.

[–]StutteringJohn -1 points0 points ago

HEY EVERYBODY. THIS GUYS A PHONY

[–]mrshiz16 2 points3 points ago

Greetings from St. Louis University!

Conrats on making it!

[–]Alex_Pan 0 points1 point ago

This is beyond cool. I love it.

[–]Cheaba 2 points3 points ago

2 years until I can transfer to Pharmacy School. I'm already getting anxiety thinking of having to go through this application process.

[–]Isle_of_Tortuga 0 points1 point ago

Why the 2 year wait to be able to apply?

[–]Cheaba 3 points4 points ago

Prereqs. You need all sorts of chemistry classes and math classes to get into pharmacy school. I just finished my first semester at a community college.

[–]onceforgoton 2 points3 points ago

I got one of these when I graduated high school asking me to come to their college.

It made a good pencil/pen holder for my car.

[–]k8te214 0 points1 point ago

I respect this college.

[–]Panwall 0 points1 point ago

Don't.

[–]Jive_Cat 2 points3 points ago

The first 3 semesters are easy. Once therapeutics start, then things get interestingly intense.

[–]skatch 2 points3 points ago

Tell him to join us in /r/StLouis

[–]Diffie-Hellman 2 points3 points ago

I hear the tuition is a big pill to swallow though.

[–]Peckasaurous 0 points1 point ago

Well that is ten times cooler than my pharmacy acceptance letter. I feel cheated.

[–]iplaw 1 point2 points ago

My wife went to pharmacy school at the University of Texas at Austin and completed a PGY1 and PGY2 residency before going to medical school.

Pharmacy parties were the best. Jello shots were loaded into oral syringes 'borrowed' from the pharmacies the students worked at: CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc. Inject the shot into your mouth!

Your friend can bank on $125,000 starting and, if interested in management, $150,000 within 3 years.

[–]machka_nip 2 points3 points ago

why did she do all that plus PGY1 and 2? did she not anticipate going to medical school?

[–]vanduynaj 1 point2 points ago

stlcop acceptance.... my god...

[–]guy3004 1 point2 points ago

STLCOP...ew

[–]burrito_brother 0 points1 point ago

I didn't realize what I was looking for since I was trying to find it in the label. How? I don't know.

[–]hullobirdy 1 point2 points ago

For spring? I have a friend going there and they've been going for a while, and that's not how he got his acceptance letter :(

[–]kevkevmacattack 0 points1 point ago

that's a pretty large prescription!

[–]aequitas3 0 points1 point ago

Expecting your shipment of bath salts? Bummer, dude.

[–]TheHentaiCommunist 1 point2 points ago

whoa I was gonna apply to STLCOP not long ago thats awesome. I've been a pharmacy tech in STL for 5 years and every pharmacist I met went there of course.

[–]TaylorRebecaRae 1 point2 points ago

They also send their information brochures in those bottles too.

source: I received one my senior year of high school

[–]escapist11 -1 points0 points ago

That's cool as fuck to be honest.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

When you're accepted to Princeton it comes with a little debt clock so you can start worrying about your student loans immediately

[–]doncarajo 0 points1 point ago

Classy

[–]Arknell 0 points1 point ago

Hey, congrats to your friend, maaan! Think he can hook us up with some pseudo?

[–]librlman -1 points0 points ago

Congratulations recent high school graduate! You have gonomonosyphilaids! Here's your prescription.

[–]MagmaGuy 1 point2 points ago

Grabbin' pills.

[–]bennetsen 0 points1 point ago

It would be real funny if they actually gave you some free drugs. Like, hey man, this is what life will be like, take this awesome pill!

[–]Moderninferno 1 point2 points ago

80 dram vial?

[–]jlbecks 0 points1 point ago

good thing he isnt planning to be a proctologist.

[–]pendimonium 0 points1 point ago

I got one of those too, it was just a letter w/ info about the school

[–]Panwall 1 point2 points ago

Good luck to your friend. That school has a 50% drop out/failure rate. I hated it there.

[–]MontyGBurns -1 points0 points ago

[–]dr_p53 1 point2 points ago

Really it is a prescription bottle now? I got accepted back in 2008 and it came in a plastic champaign bottle with confetti and stuff inside. I actually still have that bottle on my desk to remind me that I sacrificed that opportunity in order to chase my real dream.

[–]StrictlySparta 0 points1 point ago

Pretty cool, imagine if he applied for a school of [insert proper name for an ass doctor here]

[–]W1ULH -1 points0 points ago

that's awesome

[–]Smellanor_Rigby 1 point2 points ago

i remember getting a random "come to our college!!!!!!" letter from them my senior year. in the pill bottle.

so obviously i put my breath mints and gum in it.

[–]endlessnight34 0 points1 point ago

Now its time to fill that bottle with Adderal for the schoolwork, and Xanex for the stress from all of the schoolwork.

[–]I_Should_B_Working 0 points1 point ago

Well that seems like a waste of money.

[–]NoobzUseRez 0 points1 point ago

They used to send their acceptance letters in plastic Champaign bottles. However the new delivery method seems way more appropriate .

[–]rockidr4 0 points1 point ago

I run against STLCOP. Not really relevant. Just interesting.

[–]jabbaj7 1 point2 points ago

My brother got that as well, except it was more of an invitation to qualify for priority admissions

You sure you're not a faggot, OP?

[–]mjm8218 0 points1 point ago

Flush twice, it's a long way to St.Louis.

[–]GoLightLady 0 points1 point ago

That's awesome! Wish more schools would think outside boxes.

[–]guy_play_snare 1 point2 points ago

I'm guessing this is not an acceptance letter, just one of those flyers they send you in the mail to try to get your attention.

Source: I got one too.

[–]iloveyounohomo 0 points1 point ago

Put weed in it. It'll be funny.

[–]desoxyn16 1 point2 points ago

For those of you not familiar with STLCOP, they're changing the program as well. It used to be 0-6; basically once you're in, if you keep your grades up and do okay on the PCAT during your second year, you're golden. You get in right out of high school, insane in my opinion. Also, at one point in time they were accepting 120+ students, and only gradating about 80 of them. (I'm not a STLCOP student, but I've worked with some students there.) Numerous other schools are 2+4, saying that you take two years of undergrad coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, all that fun stuff, and take the PCAT to get accepted. Once accepted, C's get the degree, and that's all that matters, about 95% of students in 2+4 graduate, once in the 4 year Pharm.D program following undergraduate work.

However, STLCOP will be changing soon. Instead of 0-6, they are going to 0-7. That's even more money to be loaned, joyous! I think my boss said that there will be no class of 2019 due to the fast, so well.. OP, your friend has seven years of 'fun' ahead of them. Good luck!

[–]elj0h0 0 points1 point ago

Best. Bong. Ever.

[–]pickengrin 0 points1 point ago

That would make an awesome stash bottle

[–]Chobitpersocom 0 points1 point ago

I'm jealous. Seriously. I wish your friend the best of luck, and can't wait to become a pharmacy student myself. I'm just leaving community college and frustrated with bullshit electives.

I'll leave with a little advice. I don't care how high the signing bonuses are, don't do retail if you can help it. Get in a hospital, or a research facility.

[–]lafferty_daniel 0 points1 point ago

Honest to god, at first glance I thought this meant he had to give them a urine test to get it.

[–]bullhonke 0 points1 point ago

awesome, good job. One of my very best friends went there and graduated months before his death. He spoke really highly of the staff and students there.

[–]Mervpaine 0 points1 point ago

I don't want to show off, but my friend got a much much cooler one.

[–]gbimmer 0 points1 point ago

[–]supersweettees 0 points1 point ago

Does it come with a childproof cap? One last test to make sure you're a grownup?

[–]SgtQuack 0 points1 point ago

They typically include anti-depressants in their rejection letters.

[–]bryangrossman 0 points1 point ago

Wow... Points for being very creative!

[–]brettbri5694 0 points1 point ago

[–]TwoHands 0 points1 point ago

They use the same bottle for rejections, except it contains an anti-depressant... in suppository form.

[–]TheKavahn 0 points1 point ago

[–]tsarmina 0 points1 point ago

[–]sometimesijustdont 0 points1 point ago

Pharmacy schools have standards and actually send acceptance letters?

[–]hahsee 0 points1 point ago

Haha! This is pretty freaking awesome!!

[–]Its_Common_Sense 0 points1 point ago

All I got was a lousy e-mail

[–]lungleg 0 points1 point ago

[–]CoonwithaC -1 points0 points ago

I'm from STL ... Is this school like well known or popular among pharmacy students? Thought it was just an average pharm school?

[–]Ent_angled 0 points1 point ago

You'll probably run into the Infamous "Bitch Banes" then. He's quite the character.

[–]Boobookittyfawk 0 points1 point ago

What an awesome way to receive an acceptance letter.

[–]beaglebabex3 0 points1 point ago

When did he apply? I applied for the same school and haven't heard anything yet... this makes me nervous.

[–]rickanddianne 0 points1 point ago

Too cool for school. Congrats and good luck to your friend.

[–]jbroome 0 points1 point ago

Good thing they didn't get accepted to vet school.
