HE GOT IN!

[–]lampshade14 89 points90 points ago

Congrats! Although it is a strange time in the year to get an acceptance letter

[–]estrtshffl 92 points93 points ago

Not if you applied under early decision or early action.

[–]h2mc 74 points75 points ago

Most Early Decision or Early Action application deadlines are November 1st at the earliest...

Source: I should be finishing my applications right now.

[–]Hippocampus 14 points15 points ago

This isn't undergrad. This is grad (pharmacy) school. The application cycles are different

[–]protendious 5 points6 points ago

In medical school the first acceptances go out on Oct 15th (for the following academic year), so assuming it's rolling as well, it wouldn't be too far fetched to assumed they have a similar early date.

[–]2_da_resQ 30 points31 points ago

Purdue is on the 15th of Oct. HOLY CRAP I need to start.

[–]Rustysporkman 34 points35 points ago

Speaking as someone who only got into the school he's in right now because his parents and brother forced him to do applications whenever they saw him,

GO DO THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW. REDDIT CAN WAIT.

[–]DominarRygelThe16th 4 points5 points ago

If you get in, make sure you make your way over to the Neon Cactus.

[–]2_da_resQ 0 points1 point ago

What's there?

[–]fgjk 6 points7 points ago

I never quite remember my nights there, if that's any indication. But only on Thursdays.

[–]nocturnal_Chi 1 point2 points ago

Ew no. Unless you're a guy, but it's still gross. It's a bar that has cover that allows them to sell shitty but super cheap drinks. Save your $5 & go to Chumleys just over the river.

[–]DominarRygelThe16th 3 points4 points ago

I was more referring to Bruce the Piano man, assuming he's still there.

[–]nocturnal_Chi -2 points-1 points ago

Oh the really offensive guy who plays off mob mentality? Pass. I am bummed that Brothers turned into the frat bar.

[–]Lystrodom 0 points1 point ago

My school had a stupid one-sided rivalry with Purdue, so I almost feel the need to make fun of you, but I always did hate that shit, and I don't even go there anymore.

Good luck. Fill out your application. I'm sure it's cheaper than my school, anyway.

[–]estrtshffl 9 points10 points ago

Fair enough. I'm three years removed from that terrible, terrible deadline.

[–]YouListening 0 points1 point ago

I'm doing rolling admission because I slacked off a lot, but I'm sending in all my test scores and transcripts within the week.

[–]ThisMakesMeMoist 4 points5 points ago

Both still are usually later.

Source: High school senior who just freaked the fuck out thinking I somehow missed applying for colleges.

[–]astrogaijin 1 point2 points ago

Once you finish them you will feel very accomplished, then you can live in peace until you have to actually decide on what school to go to. Source: College student

[–]White_Luigi 3 points4 points ago

I only applied to one school, and I already had provisional acceptance. One and done baby.

[–]estrtshffl 4 points5 points ago

[–]GMan129 0 points1 point ago

or for the spring semester.....

[–]ZaneMasterX 1 point2 points ago

It is too early. My fiancee just got her letter today asking her to interview for pharmacy school...

[–]Itisarepost 0 points1 point ago

It's all good :) The cycle is pretty long and can run from october to april. Congrats to your fiance for getting an interview and best of luck to them!

[–]k0da__ 0 points1 point ago

It depends on the school. Some are earlier. My boyfriend had the first interview when he applied to pharmacy school and it was in December

[–]k0da__ 0 points1 point ago

I thought it was container for a drug test.

[–]plyons89 3 points4 points ago

Congratulations on being accepted, now please submit a urine sample to make sure you aren't on any of the drugs we want to teach you about.

[–]HotRodLincoln 4 points5 points ago

You can tell by the packaging. Nobody mails rejection letters in a giant pill bottle.

(The old adage is little envelope = rejection; big envelope = acceptance.)

[–]ElectricWarr 1 point2 points ago

What on earth is that from O_O

[–]fattmable 0 points1 point ago

rob schneiders "the hot chick"

[–]SomeGuyWithABoner 0 points1 point ago

"The Hot Chick" I laughed at it; you can't take it too seriously.

[–]YogurtShaker 2 points3 points ago

I want to attend apply to a college of pharmacy just for the acceptance letter.

[–]solzhen 1 point2 points ago

HE GOT IT IN!

Tube contained a suppository.

:-p

[–]h3avym3tal 0 points1 point ago

lmao

[–]Ah-Cool 1 point2 points ago

Haha I got this same letter when I was a senior. I didn't apply though, they just wanted me to.

[–]teasnorter -3 points-2 points ago

They?

[–]samisbond 7 points8 points ago

It got in!

[–]erict15[S] 3 points4 points ago

Fixed.

[–]DeliriousZeus 10 points11 points ago

Why were you downvoted for this? 'They' is the neutral subject pronoun in English. That sentence made sense. Some people need to brush up on their fucking grammar.

[–]IamTheBrainOfMe 4 points5 points ago

The title already states 'he' so it wasn't necessary to keep anonymity, and people here seem to hate neutral subject pronouns if they are used when they can be avoided.

[–]Nightbane35 0 points1 point ago

Technically it isn't the correct neutral pronoun. If I recall it's the indefinite "He" even if it could apply to a female. It has started to become accepted.

[–]Diabolical_Intention 63 points64 points ago

That's neat.

[–]xfortune -5 points-4 points ago

[–]plyons89 30 points31 points ago

Is it an acceptance letter?

[–]weskokigen 139 points140 points ago

That would otherwise be a crappy rejection letter. "Here's your rejection, and some ketamine to numb the pain".

[–]plyons89 16 points17 points ago

Well, I didn't know if it was an informational packet or something like that. Neat presentation, although I'm sure the postal service isn't a huge fan of it.

Anyways, congratulations OP's friend! Welcome from a fellow pharmacy student. Not at St. Louis, but we're all one big family as far as I'm concerned.

[–]imthefooI 2 points3 points ago

I got one that looked exactly like that one that was an informational packet.

[–]AlwaysDefenestrated 5 points6 points ago

If this is the case I would apply to so many pharmaceutical colleges.

[–]MikeLove9 2 points3 points ago

um, that actually sounds like the best rejection letter ever

[–]KnightHawk3 5 points6 points ago

Yes.

[–]greenriver572 109 points110 points ago

This is more than mildly interesting, this is a very, very cool way to congratulate an applicant. Mad props to the admissions team there.

[–]TheVoiceofTheDevil -1 points0 points ago

I'd say mildly clever.

[–]BannedOnReddit 0 points1 point ago

[–]KingGorilla -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, gtfo OP!

[–]WhoStoleTheKarma 8 points9 points ago

Did they get in?

[–]KnightHawk3 0 points1 point ago

Yes.

[–]paulinsky 8 points9 points ago

I'm in pharmacy school and I wish I got my letter this way. Oh and tell your friend congratulations, many sleepless nights studying await!

[–]plyons89 2 points3 points ago

Me, too! Although my letter wasn't this unique. I was thankful that I got a phone call three days later instead of anxiously checking the mailbox every day.

[–]brownchickenbr0wnc0w 4 points5 points ago

TIL reddit is full of student pharmacists

[–]champer 6 points7 points ago

Reddit is full of all kinds of people. There are probably people from NASA, the KGB, pharmacists, 9 year olds, and Ikea janitors all reading this thread.

[–]paulinsky 1 point2 points ago

I got a text from a friend that he received his letter at the start of a 2 hour class. It was the longest class of my life. I ran across campus to my mailbox as soon as it let out.

[–]plyons89 4 points5 points ago

I don't blame you. I was so nervous picking up that phone. The lady on the other end asked how my day was going and I responded "Well, it depends on what you're about to tell me."

Thankfully it was a yes. Just started P2 year and it's definitely starting to get challenging. Looking forward to 2015.

[–]snubdeity 1 point2 points ago

many sleepless nights studying await

That's what amphetamines are for, amirite?

[–]foopfoopfoop 0 points1 point ago

Me too! P1s unite. I got a call in the middle of my lab that I got in, not that cool =[.

[–]Organic_Oberon 12 points13 points ago

I actually go there. Three years ago, they gave out a plastic champagne-like bottle with confetti and a rolled up acceptance letter like a message in the bottle. It was really neat and I still have the bottle.

But good luck to them!

Now back to my all nighter for my microbiology exam...

[–]RxIntern5 3 points4 points ago

I'm the same year as you, hope this exam is going to treat you better than it will be treating me.

[–]Organic_Oberon 2 points3 points ago

I'm just wanting to get it over with at this point. Haha. Drug moa's are killing me though.

[–]RxIntern5 2 points3 points ago

gave up on those a while ago. 4 points isn't worth the effort. especially when I still don't know the amino acids.

[–]Organic_Oberon 1 point2 points ago

I've got those down. I can do everything with the drugs except most moa's. It's just going to be shitty all around though.

[–]izzle875 1 point2 points ago

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR EXAM!

[–]Organic_Oberon 0 points1 point ago

Thanks a lot!

[–]dmsean 29 points30 points ago

I was like...wtf this is not that interesting. I totally forgot I signed up for this sub. Carry on.

[–]Cygnus_X1 4 points5 points ago

I think this is an awesome way to get an acceptance letter.

[–]bergyd 8 points9 points ago

I can't even count the amount of people I have met that go to STLCOP.

[–]PollysLithium 3 points4 points ago

As a future college student wanting to become a pharmacist, I was wondering if you knew how exclusive the college was?

[–]Organic_Oberon 0 points1 point ago

It depends on when you apply. Do early decision and you are more than likely going to get accepted if you meet most of the credentials. I know after that it begins to be a lot more selective.

My roommate actually told me he was one of the last to get accepted because he didn't do early decision. They informed him there were about 4 spots open with 50 or so applicants being considered. He called the office, got a tour, and told them that if he got accepted he would take it very serious and try hard. He got in.

My advice: The school is very rigorous, and only those who take it seriously get by. If you made A's easily and without effort in high school, you better learn how to study or those A's are gonna be gone. That was my biggest downfall. Anyways, the school is very small, and everyone basically knows everyone.

In the words of my white coat sponsor: "Be good to pharmacy, and pharmacy will be good to you." You get out what you put into the program.

Good luck with everything.

Source: I go there and live with three other guys that are enrolled there.

[–]nofx1510 1 point2 points ago

My sister recently graduated from StLCoP and during her orientation they told the freshman class that 1 our of every 4 would drop out the first year. It's 6 years of a lot of work but will pay off in the end. She is now making more then my parents and she is only 2 years into the field.

[–]MCAB1 0 points1 point ago

If I remember correctly, the school accepts 1 in 3 applicants. If you want to know anything else let me know, I'm a fourth year at StLCoP.

[–]schabrackentapir 1 point2 points ago

That doesn't sound so bad to me? I know my old university had 2400 applications for media studies for 50 places...

[–]PollysLithium 0 points1 point ago

What kind of student were you in high school? I was kind of a crappy student but thought if I pulled my shit together at a community college I may get accepted into a school with a decent pharmacy program I want to stay in state but my state (Washington) on'y has two schools and I need to think of back up plans and am really am wondering if my plan to do well in community college will make up for my slightly less than average high school career. If not what would you suggest?

[–]MCAB1 0 points1 point ago

I was by no means a star student in high school, but I did okay. As for your plan, I can't really say if it will be beneficial or not. My school takes most students directly out of high school; I don't have any experience with applying to a pharmacy school after obtaining a degree.

[–]PollysLithium 0 points1 point ago

Without the degree I would be farther in debt and would have to take out loans.

[–]jtmoney175 2 points3 points ago

I would put so much weed in there

[–]samisbond 2 points3 points ago

This is how all mail should be sent through long tubes.

[–]JustHappyToLurk 1 point2 points ago

My best friend goes there. I was blown away when my friend showed me his acceptance letter. Tell your friend congratulations and to be prepared for an immense challenge!

[–]nastyskankbitch 1 point2 points ago

I got that one as well, definitely kept the bottle. It always raises interesting questions.

[–]badsurfer 0 points1 point ago

IO got one a while back too but it was not an acceptance letter it was just a letter telling me to visit. Definitely the most creative letter I have gotten.

[–]CoolStoryYo 0 points1 point ago

That's very creative! My sister went into an Ivy league college and all she got was glitter and little stars and shit in her acceptance letter

[–]A_Cylon_Raider 0 points1 point ago

Hey STLCOP, I've got some friends there, I hear it's a great school. Tell him congrats!

[–]Pharmer_ 0 points1 point ago

Hope he has the dedication to make it through. I recall the drop out rate being around 50 out of 250 students by the third year

[–]poopshark 0 points1 point ago

my best friend goes to STLCOP, last year they sent acceptance letters in a fake champagne bottle full of gold confetti-stuff. It's a great school.

[–]Anonymous999 0 points1 point ago

Back in 2005/2006, this school would send out information in those tubes. This was when every school would send paper information (pamphlets, brochures, guide books, etc.) and I ended up keeping only two pieces of that junk. It was this tube and the book from the school at which I enrolled.

[–]ANAL_EMANCIPATOR 1 point2 points ago

THEY STILL DO. (source: kicked out of college twice in last 2 years)

[–]mrbrown87 0 points1 point ago

Holy hell I just graduated from there!!!

[–]Vee_Vee 0 points1 point ago

Gimmicks are always a good sign.

[–]jdd32 0 points1 point ago

I remember getting one of those, wasn't looking to pharmacy though.

[–]Reptar11 0 points1 point ago

I have one of those. It is now used to store loose change. Quite useful.

[–]chips15 1 point2 points ago

I was just in St. Louis a few weeks ago for the Kappa Psi Province Meeting. Our brothers at STLCOP were very gracious hosts!

[–]MikeLove9 0 points1 point ago

Did it come with a free trip to East St Louis and a subsequent murder?

[–]Self_Manifesto 0 points1 point ago

Imagine how much ... ah, nevermind.

[–]SoundSelection 0 points1 point ago

Oh hey I go to there! Class of 2017 represent!

[–]Nyeep 0 points1 point ago

How has no one made a futurama reference yet?

I AM BENDER, PLEASE INSERT GIRDER.

[–]RxIntern5 0 points1 point ago

I go to school where this was sent from. Your friend is in for a real treat this fall.

The common consensus after the first month.

[–]TheShaker 1 point2 points ago

Hah! I'm applying to their medical school. I hope they give me an acceptance letter in a syringe.

[–]brenan6 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't trust the legitimacy of a school with such an asinine method of delivering good news. Sometimes you just dont wan't "silly." Especially from a college.

[–]protendious 1 point2 points ago

If you've ever been in the position of waiting for a letter from a professional school, you'd realize how much this would brighten your day after a long stressful wait.

[–]ralten 0 points1 point ago

Exactly. When I got into my doctoral program, they let me know by phone. They could have let me know by carrier pigeon for all I cared.

[–]Noxtavious 0 points1 point ago

The ATF then receives a tip from a postal worker that your friend is getting suspicious pill bottles. They organize a raid and drag your friend out of his house at gun point. Two days later the officers finally let him go after realizing their mistake, but they still act like he is a scumbag to save face and tell him they will be watching him closely from now on.

Your friend then gets a notification from the college that he can no longer become a pharmacist because his name is now on a federal database for drug offenses, the kind that you can never get your name out of.

TL;DR: Your friend's dream is shattered by novelty packaging.

[–]werewolf_bar_mitzvah 0 points1 point ago

I want their marketing budget

[–]WhoStoleTheKarma 0 points1 point ago

Awesome. congrats!!

[–]poisomike87 0 points1 point ago

lol, that college is a hop skip and a jump away from my apartment. I go right past it every day on my way to work. gotta be less than 2 miles away.

[–]JMPopaleetus 1 point2 points ago

This thread makes me believe there should be an /r/pharmacy or /r/pharmacy student.

EDIT: Well, there is an /r/Pharmacy!

[–]calibudzz420 0 points1 point ago

That's the biggest nug jug I've ever seen.

[–]mercmaid 0 points1 point ago

[–]qwertytard -1 points0 points ago

such bullshit, non profit organization. how can a college be labeled as non profit?!

[–]DjKaiserCharles444 0 points1 point ago

O cool! Now he can overdose on college debt!

[–]Minifig81 0 points1 point ago

Uh, if they're a pharmacist, they'll be doing fine.

[–]DjKaiserCharles444 0 points1 point ago

[–]mrbrown87 0 points1 point ago

STLCOP is an extremely small school, there are no campus ministry groups. There are an insane amount of hobos in STL though.
