This is not the Black forest (in southwestern part of germany) but the Obersee in the southeastern part of germany, right next to the quite famous Königssee and the Kehlsteinhaus

For comparison, i marked these two in Google maps, where A is the Black Forest and B is the Obersee.

I was there yesterday..... The world is a small place...

[–]goldandguns 1 point2 points ago

It's quite a large place relative to our human size.

[–]tonyh322 3 points4 points ago

False, this is a picture of a shed.

You might have answered to the wrong text.

[–]Globalized 14 points15 points ago

Pretty sure that's Obersee

[–]todtodson 11 points12 points ago

I recognized this place but didn't know from where, then I took a look at my desktop picture: http://i.imgur.com/xhN07.jpg

Looks like that cooling house has received some renovations.

[–]bflfab 0 points1 point ago

What is a cooling house?

[–]FeculentUtopia 1 point2 points ago

I saw todtodson's picture up here a few weeks ago, and somebody claiming to be from the area said that was a cooling house or cooling shed, intentionally built on the water so it will stay cool inside. Not sure if troll or true story, though.

Is this the mythical place where they grow hams and gummy bears?

[–]evillozer 3 points4 points ago

Can't forget the cake!

[–]viewtheworld 1 point2 points ago

[–]weedsches 0 points1 point ago

I didn't know there are such beautiful places, and i was born in the Breisgau

[–]sunkid 2 points3 points ago

There are beautiful places such as this, even in the Black Forest. Alas, this was not taken in the Black Forest as others have pointed out already. One of the few places where one would find a similar size body of water in the proximity of a peak above the tree border would be around Titisee/Feldberg. However, even there, the hills are much more gently sloped and the forest is much denser.

I grew up in that region and studied in Freiburg.

Is the image broken for anyone else?

[–]vikksorg 0 points1 point ago

Yes, but what happens when you get a lot of rain? Does it flood into the house?

[–]iamalimodriver 1 point2 points ago

My guess is it's a boat house of some kind.

[–]Schuultz -1 points0 points ago

Location is wrongly identified, but the picture is pretty good none the less. I suppose that's good enough for an upvote, fuck it.

[–]McCl3lland -1 points0 points ago

Soo...took a whole forest to build that shack eh?

[–]thepancakebreakfast 0 points1 point ago

As pretty as this is, I would be scared shitless at night in that place.

[–]l0ng_time_lurker -1 points0 points ago

Kitz or GTFO

[–]Han50l0 1 point2 points ago

For those of you who are into this sort of thing as a wall paper.

[–]Ineedagoodhandle 0 points1 point ago

Martin Heidegger's retirement location. He wrote a book about boredom and animals there.

Berchtesgaden National Park, Lake, Germany. Also, here is a submission of the same spot from almost a month ago. It's cool to see both sunny and cloudy.

Source: Post Here

OP of above: ErrorlessGnome

EDIT: Also, Obersee is the name of the Lake. it is, in fact, located in Berchtesgaden National Park. Correct me if I am wrong.

Also, Königssee and Kehlsteinhaus are a lake and structure respectively.

[–]Jaraxo[M] 0 points1 point ago

This submission has been removed due to the presence and focus of man made structures; it would be better suited to r/villageporn. For more information regarding this issue please see the FAQ in the drop down menu at the top or see the sidebar to the right. Feel free to resubmit the image to the correct subreddit.

Wow, this picture again... And mislabeled again... Lol

Too bad I couldn't hog all the karma by stating that this is Lake Obersee, Germany this time. Well played, mars20, I will be on the lookout for the next repost of this... o_0
