I'm a writer on a Swedish gaming blog. Before the release of Super Mario 3D Land, I wrote a joke article about PETA being outraged over the fact that Nintendo brings back the tanuki suit.           That's my favourite part of everything, she's a type 1 diabetic like me I believe and we'd all be dead if they didn't run those trials on animals. If you've ever experienced ketoacidosis let me put it bluntly: it is slow and extremely painful as your body shuts down and you begin to die. But hey, so long as the animals only die for you you can condemn everyone else right? Animals taste great and they kept me alive, thanks tasty animal friends, evolve to taste bad and I will stop eating you.

          Ketoacidosis is one of the worst experiences I've had in 26 years. I thought I was gonna die, then I wanted to die. The docs had to calm me down with generous amounts of morphine and pushed so much fluid through me I lost count.

          My nigga. They gave me so much morphine (I was doing a lot of Vicodin and shit at the time being younger) that it had no effect on my pain level. I remember asking the nurse for more and she just looked at me sadly and said "hun, we've given you enough to knock out a horse." And the fluids, oh man the fluids. I've never frozen to death but that's pretty close in my mind. Waking up after all that, the level of parched is like actually walking through a desert. Fun times with being a diabetic.

          When my brother in law was in Afghanistan, they had just cleared an old abandoned IED factory, when on the way out his buddies leg got blown off by a small road-side bomb. He survived; but I'll tell you - that guy was always EXTREMELY sensitive to pain, he had a major nervous system problem. My bro said that when his leg got fucked they had to give him morphine as well as this special knockout drug or something just because the pain was so great for this guy that his nervous system was literally killing him from the inside out with a over-stimulation of electrical pulses. I don't know what that drug was, but if it ever got on the market some seriously bad shit would go down.

          I want to know what they gave me before a surgery I had. They had to keep me awake but also had to shove a camera up my nose and down my throat. Simultaneously an incredible and a horrible experience. Amazing drug but also having your head scraped out from the inside by a camera as it navigates your tubes

            Dude, I had to undergo blood tests this year to try to figure out a leg injury (long story, basically ran every medical test, turned out to be a blood clot that released and didn't kill me but fucked my leg up for awhile) so one of the times I went to do a bunch of blood work was also for one of my diabetic blood draws. I ended up having to give up 13 vials. The woman was like "you deserve some sort of award for this." I have a theory that basically Blade is real, and they have vampire overlords everywhere and they draw our blood, test it, then give it to the vampires because goddamn leave some in me.

                  I'm a vegetarian, and I would also like to jump on the PETA hating bandwagon. I don't like their emotionally manipulative propaganda. I understand that people are smarter than most animals, and are more evolved than them as well. The only reasons I don't eat animals is that I realized that it isn't necessary to kill something else to sustain myself. If there were ever a situation where if an animal were to go to waste if I didn't eat it, or if not eating an animal would be directly against my well-being, then I will make an exception. You can like animals and respect life and not be manipulative and emotional like PETA. Even Spock ate meat once :)

                  I am compelled to mention that no creatures are "more evolved" than any other. That's not how evolution works. There is no "goal" in evolution. The fly that has evolved to live 2 days, eat poop, have a thousand babies that they won't live to see, is just as evolved as we are to fit their own niche.

                  I don't think that has anything to do with their beliefs or goals. Their beef with pokemon is that humans are using them to fight each other.

                  But yes, in most cases they do eye and skin irritant tests as well as the LD 50. The Draize test is the most well known method.

                                                    Yes and Ash never forces Pikachu or his pokemon friends to fight. How Ash becomes a successful trainer is through creating a strong bond between himself and his pokemons and this motivates the pokemons to fight for Ash's honor and their own. This can be witnessed in several episodes such as the Charizard vs Poliwag episode where Charizard is initially an untamed beast and Charizard fights Poliwag for own honor but Charizard sees Ash loves him despite Charizard treating ash like shit so charizard fights for his honor and his own. :') Not to mention Ashe never forces his pokemons to stay with him. For example he lets butterfree free into the pack of other butterfrees where hes butterfree finds true love with this pink butterfree or some shit. Also his pidgeot gets free as well. Also he lets his mankey train with a trainer to pursue mankey's dreams of being a true fighter.

                                                      I actually know a Veterinarian who's familiar with that sort of thing. Obviously, using up a whole crematory oven just to cremate a Chihuahua is wasteful, so they wait until they have enough bodies to do a mass cremation.

                                                      Also, I also want to point out that veterinarians/shelters do not bury animals, they cremate animals, and dispose of the ashes. Something about stopping the spread of disease. Which makes a lot of sense, since cats and dogs carry fleas, which are a vector for some very nasty diseases/bacteria.

                                                          Okay, now some of that was technically correct but a little skewed. Yes, PETA is leading the put down parade by a large margin, but thats because they take in anything that finds itself on their doorstep, and more often than not these animals are train wrecks. And yes, most local shelters have much lower kill rates, but I've been in the shelter business before, and their criteria for euthenasia are pretty loose to say the least. Especially in low budget shelters, where something as simple as a kennel cough, or ringworm can lead straight to needletown.

                                                          Additionally, no. They don't want animals "no matter how dangerous or rabid to roam free" because as we've already pointed out, they fry them like its a KFC having a sale on double downs.

                                                          As a final note, yes they lie through their teeth and talk out of their asses. They honest to god have no issue with completely misrepresenting a cause, and are retarded enough to take on pokemon as a legitimate animal abuse issue.

                                                          I know about the killing animals with kennel cough, but PETA kills animals that aren't sick at all. The shelters they take from usually give them the animals with the best chances because they're a big organization and have the money to take care of them. Only to find out their most adoptable animals ended up in a dumpster a couple of blocks down.

                                                          Except everything you just said is false. They don't take in animals for any reasons other than for their low cost spay/neuter program, and their euthanasia service. They only animals they get from shelters are the ones those shelters were already going to kill. They take them specifically because the shelters in question use gas boxes instead of a humane method. So PETA does it for them using a lethal injection like a vet would.

                                                                    In this case the "satire" is using the imagery of the original game to ridicule it. Again, this is from a layman's perspective, so I may have no clue what I'm talking about.

                                                                                As happy as that would make me, this is textbook Fair Use in copyright law. Nintendo could sue because technically it is infringement, but odds are the judge would just throw it out the second they pleaded FU. I bake with lard...I may not indulge in what I make but I recognize that my baking is slightly better for it. I don't think we should condemn people for the choices they make if someone else likes meat have my poultry, beef and pork.

I actually support my local shelters, who try their mightiest not to put down animals, actually, we have several who's policy is to NOT put down ANY animals, no matter how long the stay. This was nicely made, but god damn did they ever miss the message. In the first few episodes alone we see Ash running around trying to save his pikachu and charmander and so forth. It's all about building a relationship around the pokemon that you catch. Everytime Ash's pokemon is beaten down, he's devastated too. It's not like the characters are going "OH HEY, THERE'S AN ANIMAL, LET'S REMOVE A RIB AND TELL IT TO TACKLE ROCKS".
