Before people start to get bent out of shape, I'm sure that if the kid expressed feelings of physical pain, the parent wouldn't have taken the picture.

Edit: On the other hand, it's probably more likely that the pic is staged and I'm defending some random stranger for no reason.

[–]Static_Line_Bait 218 points219 points ago

Not only that, but some people don't seem to realize that parents have always taken pics like this. Instead of whipping out a smartphone though, it was "HURRY, run and get the camera before she figures out how to get down!"

At least kids nowadays don't have to hold the position until the stupid Polaroid camera is ready.

[–]themanfromreddit 240 points241 points ago

That's nothing, during the Renaissance they said to kids "Stop thy squirming child, the painter can not painteth thusly."

[–]NotQuiteJesus 73 points74 points ago

Think of the poor stone age kids and all the carving...

[–]hogimusPrime 65 points66 points ago

I had to hold still for my 1st birthday portrait until I was 5.

[–]videogameexpert 5 points6 points ago

No wonder their heads are always depicted as deformed. The painter started at the baby feet and had to work up to a child sized noggin.

[–]90s_Man 7 points8 points ago

Dude I really want to see a renaissance style painting of the chubby bubbles girl now, that would make me lol

[–]jphx 8 points9 points ago

Exactly. Before I even came here for the comments I showed this to a co-worker and said "This is what my parents would have done. Ran to get the camera before rescuing me."

[–]Mechanicalme 27 points28 points ago

Don't worry about it... Kids are made of rubber at that age. Looks like fun!

[–]DukeEsquire 105 points106 points ago

bent out of shape

I see what you did there.

[–]MoonRazer 14 points15 points ago

I really thought it was the start of a pun thread.

[–]FenrirIII 222 points223 points ago

Karma > Parenting

[–]Skizot_Bizot 74 points75 points ago

Well yeeaaahh. A photo op like this is once in a life time. Many people go their whole Reddit career not breaking 1000 link karma in a post.

While on the other hand you can always make more children. (Its fun too!)

[–]mayloona 4 points5 points ago

Kids probably having the time of her life

[–]dorklogic 11 points12 points ago

Are you saying we shouldn't contort the facts?

[–]SteveDave123 2 points3 points ago

It would appear that a few people are getting all turned upside down and emptying their drawers over your comment.

[–]PoniesRBitchin 2 points3 points ago

America's Funniest Home Videos has taught me that parents will completely disregard children if money (or attention) is at stake.

[–]AbdulAhBlongatta 179 points180 points ago

Thank god that dresser didn't fall forward

[–]topsey_kretts[S] 107 points108 points ago

We actually just got them (I have two daughters) a new dresser in their room. They were playing with it by opening and shutting the drawers, and it ended up toppling down. Thankfully, they got out of the way in time.

[–]Bunnyhat 143 points144 points ago

I would really recommend securing any heavy furniture to the wall when you have young kids.

[–]reverbs 175 points176 points ago

I would recommend securing any young kids to the wall when you have any heavy furniture.

[–]TheShoura 21 points22 points ago

This was going to be a comment about how funny that was, then I saw your username and figured "this guy does it too much."

[–]UnD34d_Do0d 26 points27 points ago

My mum got me real heavy furniture when I was a kid... I remember it being EXTREMELY heavy on my back when it fell on it.... I remember it so well... I got to see santa at the church afterwards and got an extra special gift!

[–]Ecchii 15 points16 points ago

extra special gift!

...

I got to see santa at the church

...

church

...

extra special gift!

[–]Henry1987 10 points11 points ago

if i remember right... ecchi. means something perverted... not that i would know anything about it

[–]Ecchii 10 points11 points ago

No it's a kind of strawberry cake.

Shhhhhhh

[–]rabidsi 6 points7 points ago

[–]Ecchii 13 points14 points ago

THAT YOUNG LADY DOES NOT LOOK OF AGE.

Goddammit what have you done.

Edit: O wait, she's a cat. We cool, we cool.

[–]rabidsi 4 points5 points ago

Right in the weak spot. Don't worry, bro, we got this.

[–]teh_tg 3 points4 points ago

I don't even let kids in my house. Heavy furniture I have, but that is the safest on my list of dangerous things!

[–]rhetorical_twix 20 points21 points ago

Dear God, affix one end of a short strap to the back of the dresser and screw the other end into a wall stud. That's one way to prevent furniture from toppling onto kids.

[–]2_EASY_2_REGISTER 10 points11 points ago

This. It takes longer to move furniture, but there are less trips to the hospital.

[–]polebridge 5 points6 points ago

Yes, please do this. Or angle irons to attach the back legs to the floor. Shit happens. I know a case. i don't want to know another.

[–]barium111 4 points5 points ago

Loki the prankster failed this time. Praise Thor.

[–]2muffins 0 points1 point ago

Serious shit. If you have small children, secure all your heavy furniture. By the time you realize the seriousness of it, it could already be too late. Children die from climbing on furniture.

[–]MissCharleston 51 points52 points ago

That one goes in the graduation video and the wedding slideshow.

[–]grinr 70 points71 points ago

She was climbing the dresser, her foot slipped into the drawer, she fell backwards. No need to hire detectives.

[–]stew614 19 points20 points ago

And that's why she didn't scream! It all makes sense now!

[–]grinr 34 points35 points ago

Young children are creatures of whim. My nephew took a 3 foot fall while climbing a bookshelf, landed on his head, got up (looked around to see if he could score tears-points) and when he saw nobody was looking decided he'd go play with his toys. I would have screamed if that was me, but he didn't because kids.

[–]Aperture_Scientist4 18 points19 points ago

...If no one was looking how do you know this story?

[–]grinr 23 points24 points ago

It's pretty simple; you look away when the accident happens. Try it yourself sometime. Kids fall, drop things on themselves, and so on all the time. Just look away and pretend to be on your phone or something (aka busy) and most of the time they just get back up and go on with their lives. In this case he was in a different room and I saw him hit the ground but I was in the kitchen at the time, so it was easy to just ignore. If there's crying when you're not looking - it's time to swoop in and make it all better because they're really hurt.

[–]topsey_kretts[S] 6 points7 points ago

Or you can laugh. The kid sees you laughing and thinks what just happened was funny and also laughs.

[–]grinr 4 points5 points ago

Never tried that, will give it a go! (I have ice cream prepped in case of failure.)

[–]HomieDOESPlayDat 5 points6 points ago

My son does this...a lot. He hurts himself fairly regularly so he's gotten used to pain lol. His head will slam into the floor and he'll start laughing hysterically.

[–]Beretot 22 points23 points ago

In his/her defense, it was never said no one was looking. Just that the kid saw nobody.

[–]ngony 9 points10 points ago

Creepy uncle.

[–]Aperture_Scientist4 4 points5 points ago

Fair point.

[–]Tasgall 6 points7 points ago

My guess is that the kid knows his uncle can see through his the fake crying and doesn't bother trying.

[–]blacktigr 5 points6 points ago

I did this a lot as a kid. Dressers, cabinets, anything that was climb-able. Sadly, did not become stuntwoman for career.

[–]nocentsofhumour 94 points95 points ago

Good thing this was posted on r/funny because I expected a totally different image there.

[–]ChangingTides 21 points22 points ago

And you still clicked...

[–]C_T_C_C 9 points10 points ago

That doesn't stop me with /r/wtf

[–]Surtir 6 points7 points ago

well, if the link is blue...

[–]TMartin442 8 points9 points ago

I even thought to myself, "why is it funny that this person has hanged herself? I better check this out," and then I was relieved find out that I misinterpreted the title.

[–]holysocks 51 points52 points ago

her meaty gastrocnemius and flexible talocrural joint prevented any pain

[–]redemit 37 points38 points ago

THESE ARE ACTUAL ANATOMICAL TERMS! Every piece of every human was named by Lovecraft.

[–]bitcheslovedroids 12 points13 points ago

Call of gastrocnemius

[–]FrugalNinja 5 points6 points ago

I don't think there are any body parts that have racist sounding names.

[–]Nyarthlotep 5 points6 points ago

Well played. Still catches me off guard 30 pages in when suddenly "Negro."

[–]karmaisdharma 7 points8 points ago

Her calf and ankle.

[–]Shadax 4 points5 points ago

Are you hitting on her?

[–]donagan 3 points4 points ago

You mean, like, she's young and not easily injured?

[–]lngjohnslvr 22 points23 points ago

Made me laugh but that looks like a heavy dresser. Glad it didn't fall on her. I wish the best for you and your upside down daughter.

[–]slade2501 24 points25 points ago

Kids will do things like that. It makes for great stories tot ell when their older.

[–]swiftekho 23 points24 points ago

10 years from now

PARENT: "Remember when I found you hanging from the dresser as a kid?"

CHILD: "Psh! Ha! Ya right. Pics or it didnt happen."

PARENT: devilish grin

[–]PriscillaPresley 5 points6 points ago

I doubt that phrase will still be popular by then...I hope it won't be.

[–]someauthor 2 points3 points ago

In that day and age, the courts will say, "Pics, or it all happened."

[–]jonesyface 10 points11 points ago

She was probably trying to climb up onto the dresser by stepping on the slightly open drawer when she lost her grip and fell backwards. Her foot then slipped into the drawer while the rest of her fell backwards resulting in a dangling effect. I may or may not have done this as a child....

[–]isthisfunnyenough 6 points7 points ago

buahahahaha!! It's the face!! I have a daughter the same age and would have done the same! :D

[–]areawoman34 9 points10 points ago

I'm totally fine with you letting your kid hang from furniture but, jesus christ, get your cat and her kittens FIXED. Gah!

[–]topsey_kretts[S] 1 point2 points ago

At first i looked at the pic again to see if the cats are in the picture. Then it dawned on me that you can go back to my post history and see that i have posted pics of my cats.

[–]onedub 18 points19 points ago

The child is fine. She's in no pain.. If she's anything like my kids she'd be asking to be left in that position, kinda like a self-induced endurance test.

Any of you who found the picture worthy of criticism either haven't got kids or don't fully appreciate the ones you have.

Kids are bendy and flexible. It's a fact.

[–]ProKaleidoscoper 1 point2 points ago

if you only read the title, this sounds really terrible... just think about it

[–]NotAlana 4 points5 points ago

I too have monkey children. Keep on truckin'!

[–]biotroll 28 points29 points ago

That looks seriously painful.

[–]AwesomeAni 65 points66 points ago

Not necessarily. Kids are flexible, they can get into the strangest positions and not feel a thing.

[–]LegendaryRav 102 points103 points ago

You seem to know a little too much about this...

http://i.imgur.com/5QEjo.jpg

[–]Dokturigs 69 points70 points ago

I keep trying to meet Chris Hanson on those chat lines, but all I find are some 13 year old girls who are totally down to fuck.

[–]gmoneygangster3 8 points9 points ago

well looks like i have to clean up iced tea from my wall and computer screen thanks to you

[–]CarpetFibers 6 points7 points ago

I find it strange how many people on reddit are unable to keep their drinks in their mouth when they encounter humor.

[–]Novaculite 22 points23 points ago

[–]schwerpunk 6 points7 points ago

Man, I haven't done that in so long, but I still remember exactly what it feels like...

Nowadays, I would probably have to have a good sit-down for a few minutes to slow the spinning of my head afterwards.

[–]Claypool2112 16 points17 points ago

You've done children?!?!

[–]amtrisler 8 points9 points ago

You haven't?

[–]Misaiato 4 points5 points ago

As a parent of a 3-year-old - I can confirm this.

[–]gstatty 37 points38 points ago

Queue the torch wielding angry villager mob in 5, 4, 3, 2...

[–]encaseme 55 points56 points ago

Cue.

[–]gstatty 67 points68 points ago

The villagers organized themselves in a singular uniform line doing their pitchforking with an assembly line-like precision.

[–]jdk 6 points7 points ago

Meanwhile, I see that the observers of the villagers organized themselves in a singular circle, each with a penis in hand.

[–]poo-poo 22 points23 points ago

No, we're lining up.

[–]sknolii 16 points17 points ago

Naw, the village is in England.. that's how they mob.. orderly as fuck.

[–]SKREAM 5 points6 points ago

Que?

[–]Nydaln 2 points3 points ago

When I had just read the title I was imagining something completely else...

[–]LasciviousLlama 0 points1 point ago

Best guess is she pulled the drawer out and was standing on it. I used to do this to reach higher cabinets when I was a kid. She probably slipped and her leg went in and body went down. Haha. Glad this never happened to me.

[–]lipeu 3 points4 points ago

So glad this wasn't r/wtf! Her face is brilliant, nonchalant.

[–]tipsymom 3 points4 points ago

This is what kids do! I have seen my kids, kids I babysat for, my little sister even in some really bizarre and amazing predicaments! This particular feat is quite outstanding! Kids are amazingly resilient and have a higher pain threshold than us grown-ups, at least that's been my observation.

[–]tree9148 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, your "Father of the Year" award just got flushed down the shitter by the judges. On the other hand, I must say I admire your quick photographer reflexes in catching such an adorable pose!

[–]redrubynail 5 points6 points ago

this is EXACTLY how my cat ended up. except she got her foot stuck inside the handle.

[–]Elshar 5 points6 points ago

I would've also picked her up by her ankle and tickled her. BWAHAHAHA!

(Yes, I do this to my sons, and they love it)

[–]topsey_kretts[S] 11 points12 points ago

I actually made her get herself down by pushing up with her arms and relaxing her leg. THEN we laughed it out.

[–]Peach_Muffin 8 points9 points ago

I wouldn't post this pic. Some news site is going to pick it up, blur her face, and say that her father put her into this position as a punishment.

[–]bluequail 7 points8 points ago

You are so fortunate that the dresser was heavy enough to support her weight without falling forward. So many children are killed by falling furniture and electronics.

[–]infinitygioom 2 points3 points ago

This could be a scene from the next paranormal activity

[–]Chizum 2 points3 points ago

She was probably wondering about the meaning of life and why we are all here.

[–]07040 2 points3 points ago

when i was really little i got my hand stuck in a vcr and my dad spent a while explaining to me why it was a bad idea to put my hand in the vcr... before he helped me get out

[–]thewalex 3 points4 points ago

So that's how you catch toddlers. Thanks for the info, OP.

[–]ruinercollector 3 points4 points ago

Protip: Unless and until this place gets cleaned up, don't post any photos of your child to a community with so many pedophiles and pedophile apologists. There are already about 10 posts on here sexualizing your child. :(

[–]SparkySparkinton -1 points0 points ago

Even if the kid wasn't in pain... come on... you can tell she's thinking "a fucking camera? HELP ME".

[–]TTTTDaniels 1 point2 points ago

I have the exact same dresser!

[–]Kristic74 11 points12 points ago

I have the exact same aged child immobilized in my bedroom....

[–]Kristic74 3 points4 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]guessthequote 1 point2 points ago

You're like a little birdie up there. Ka-caw! Ka-caw!

[–]firefae83 -1 points0 points ago

Probably just trying to climb it for something and slipped. Still, looks like it hurts.

[–]highway_patrol69 0 points1 point ago

I was afraid to click this link, I guess I've been on 4chan to much, I expected worse.

[–]dirtynate66666666666 0 points1 point ago

Snap a picture. I would have done the exact same thing.

[–]Furydwarf 1 point2 points ago

This happened to me once, I wanted to go all upside monkey bars style on the dresser so I stuck my foot in the gap and got stuck

[–]KrimsonTide 0 points1 point ago

Doesn't it look like her leg would be in a lot of pain? The undersides of those drawers are sharp.

[–]TheSelfRefName 0 points1 point ago

'Daaaaawwwwwh

[–]kirbz1692 -1 points0 points ago

I am sorry OP for calling you a bad parent. You are not a bad parent. I am a much worse parent of my fictional children than you could ever be for you real children. Apologies for my comment.

[–]RahadJackson -1 points0 points ago

There is a lot about this photo that I don't understand.

[–]srilyk 2 points3 points ago

You must not be a parent...

[–]Nman77 0 points1 point ago

I had a different image in mind clicking into this...glad it wasn't that.

[–]iaccidentlytheworld 0 points1 point ago

My sister used to climb dressers when she was about that age. One fell on her and she stopped doing that.

[–]Balidet 0 points1 point ago

proof positive that if you turn a frown upside down... you get a smile.. I do have to respect your commitment to the cause little lady..

[–]Texas_Hammer 1 point2 points ago

By chance does she watch Winnie the Pooh? When I was a kid I did something similar because Tigger slept in his drawer of his dresser

[–]ElyseOreo 0 points1 point ago

Well, that's one way of avoiding teacup children!

[–]invisibleprisms -1 points0 points ago

And the internet parent of the year award goes to!

[–]Vegeisha 1 point2 points ago

When I was a kid, say 6, my Mum wanted to the corner shop for an icecream and I convinced her that she could leave me alone in the house for 5 minutes. I think I might have been influenced by that episode of Seinfeld when Kramer sets up beds for the Japanese business men in a chest of drawers? Yeah, she found me stuck and crying trying to climb into my t-shirt drawer.

[–]josephanthony 1 point2 points ago

"I have a perfectly reasonable explanation for this..."

[–]deadface2 -1 points0 points ago

Reading the headline I thought I was about to see a strangulation of some sort....quite relieved to see it's just a kid in a goofy position.

[–]thurberfan 0 points1 point ago

Ha, kids are stupid!

[–]xKYLERxx 0 points1 point ago

If you turn her upside, she's karate kicking.

[–]awkward_andrea 0 points1 point ago

[–]Utterly_Confused_Guy 0 points1 point ago

Oh shit, The Today Show is gonna warp this picture too.

[–]dog_fantasy 0 points1 point ago

[–]iamtheowlman 1 point2 points ago

1st thought: Oh my God, someone hung themselves.

2nd thought: "Unable to get herself down." this is Reddit, so it must be a cat.

3rd thought: Awwww.

4th thought: Hasn't her knee popped out of its socket?

[–]stickybeatz 0 points1 point ago

You guys must walk around with cameras hanging around your neck. My stupid iPhone camera takes about 3 years to open and be ready to take a picture.

[–]lonelyredditaur 1 point2 points ago

The title of your post + r/nocontext= win

[–]GreyareaWalker -1 points0 points ago

Hopefully she tells her parents and they stop sending her there to be babysat.

[–]brythefamousretard 1 point2 points ago

I used to do shit like this as a kid. Try hang yourself upside down Get stuck

[–]EvOllj 0 points1 point ago

counting days until some asshole adds pedobear do this.

[–]djuggler 1 point2 points ago

When I was a child I never understood why my parents didn't have cable; as a parent I know that children provide far better entertainment than the networks. This is one of those entertaining moments!

[–]antonvowl -1 points0 points ago

"Honey, just stay there like daddy told you, his friends on the internet will be very pleased with this one"

[–]guyver_dio 1 point2 points ago

Accepted fate

[–]thehindteet 0 points1 point ago

I love to take pictures of my kids doing goofy shit like this to upset the safety patrol. You've succeeded wildly here, I should post the ones of my four year old doing woodworking.

[–]ksa2 0 points1 point ago

halp

[–]Evilgeek 0 points1 point ago

She's got that creepy look like when the T-1000 gets his hand blasted on the back of the cop car in Terminator 2.

[–]jrwreno -1 points0 points ago

Please, if you have not already, secure all furniture to the wall. If your daughter is already climbing, it can fall on her and kill her.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoWkwqEKSos

[–]Horvitz444 1 point2 points ago

I would have done as my parents has, left her till she found her own way down.

[–]AfroBro -1 points0 points ago

Had a similar situation, although with a bunk bed and a sweaty tube sock from my brother.

[–]musicl -1 points0 points ago

heh

[–]viralkat 1 point2 points ago

Kids are flexible. She's fine. Cute kid!

[–]meta_feta 0 points1 point ago

Yay Food Lion!!!

[–]Mrlowrider -1 points0 points ago

and she was just 1 shirt inch away from being the youngest gone wilder.

[–]bigdaddydrew77 0 points1 point ago

My sister did exact same thing when a child, about that age too. I think she had two legs stuck though. She was also calm. My mom, my other sister and I were playing a board game and we hear our youngest sis call out as calm as could be, "Mom, c'mere for a sec?". Time before camera phones and interwebz. Now it only lives in our memories....sniff.

[–]misterschmoo 0 points1 point ago

This photo is so coming out at her 21st birthday party.

[–]Foley1 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of when I was a kid and I would lay upside-down on the staircase and look at the roof imagining what it would be like if the house were upside-down. Trippy shit I kid you not.

[–]ztkraptor 0 points1 point ago

And 2 weeks from now, the mass media gets a hold of this..and its all over the internet how this person is abusive, you saw ti here first!!

[–]JERKFACE9000 0 points1 point ago

Funny thing is, I don't have any kids.

[–]indubwestep 1 point2 points ago

[–]tha_dude_29 1 point2 points ago

Relieved that this was not a recent suicide like I thought from the title

[–]hellosexynerds 0 points1 point ago

[–]synchtuber 1 point2 points ago

PSA: Whatever you do, don't read the comments at the bottom.

[–]ghiiirocker1 1 point2 points ago

[–]more_koolaid_please -1 points0 points ago

According to US News "Between 1990 and 2007, an estimated 264,200 U.S. children were treated in hospital emergency departments for injuries caused by furniture tipping, about 15,000 each year, according to a study published in the May online issue of Clinical Pediatrics. About 300 children died of their injuries."

So much for your parent of the year application..

[–]pntbttrkelly 0 points1 point ago

i did that once! i cartwheeled into the drawer and my momentum slammed it shut. Kids can manage to get in weird situations sometimes.

[–]Waggins 0 points1 point ago

God I thought that was my kid for a second. Totally looks like her, and is something shed do.

[–]Aldaz 1 point2 points ago

What a terrible father... upvote

[–]Tony_Perkis_Sr 0 points1 point ago

It's sad to see how butthurt people are over this photo. They are the reason north America is filling up with kids similar to Rod and Todd Flanders

[–]Shyr 0 points1 point ago

Wow. They really are unbreakable.

[–]Rikess 0 points1 point ago

When I was little I had bunk beds and got stuck upside down like this also. For 4 hours
