Come on Dad, put the stock into her shoulder so she doesn't hurt herself.

[–]Ambrose_Balin 376 points377 points ago

Also she needs to shake that dog off of the barrel before she pulls the trigger.

[–]FOUR_YOLO 120 points121 points ago

canine silencers, the next big thing

[–]HumanCake 116 points117 points ago

Hush puppy?

[–]hampsted 9 points10 points ago

That would be an awesome name for a silencer.

[–]Zurmakin 5 points6 points ago

[–]oct6 7 points8 points ago

postal 2, the greatest game

[–]Jpot 13 points14 points ago

tis a wee dog

[–]drkev10 22 points23 points ago

Her arms probably aren't long enough to have the stock into her shoulder, since it's a Red Ryder and she's so small this will work fine until she grows a bit more and can shoot it normally. Source: I used to really small when 7 and shooting bb guns well.

[–]giraffricanamerican 47 points48 points ago

She's too small for the BB gun. If she put the stock up to her shoulder she wouldn't be able to reach the trigger. She's learning aim, she can learn proper mechanics when she's a little bigger. My dad had someone make me a custom stock for my 20 gauge when I was little and had this same problem, unfortunately I don't know how you would alter a plastic stock.

[–]sheerheartattack 9 points10 points ago

Agreed. Even if she were able to reach the trigger, which is possible, her other arm would be unable to reach the forearm, so she wouldn't be able to support the firearm.

The stock may be able to be cut, which I might recommend as learning proper form from the start is important. It's harder to unlearn than it is to learn.

[–]cyberslick188 20 points21 points ago

You could shoot like the way OP is shooting for half your life and the second you were taught how to shoulder the gun properly you'd never go back.

It's like saying someone who grew up driving a car with their feet on the wheel wouldn't adjust quickly to using their hands. Ergonomics aren't some ploy to sell shit.

[–]Artyom2033 71 points72 points ago

Ouch, this daisy brand bb gun vibrated slightly

[–]nwsreddit 18 points19 points ago

Later in life....

Oh yeah, I absolutely know how to fire a rifle. I've been shooting since I was a kid. Hand me the shotgun.

[–]MagmaGuy 11 points12 points ago

Actually, screw the shotgun, hand me that .50 cal sniper rifle.

[–]Fencemuffin 35 points36 points ago

Proceeds to jump 360º and shoot?

[–]MagmaGuy 14 points15 points ago

Or aim down, shoot and use as a rocket.

[–]sham_shoe 7 points8 points ago

Remember to crouch at the same time too!

[–]MoocowR 5 points6 points ago

Yupp that's great logic, because she's not using proper gun control at 7 with toy guns, later in life if she choses to upgrade to the real thing she obviously won't look into proper gun control and will use all the knowledge she had from her plastic toys. The same way I learned how to drive using my RC car's. You should see the ramps I can make out of books and jump my real Honda civic off of.

[–]crazyex 10 points11 points ago

I gave the same rifle to my daughter. It's actually impossible to shoulder the stock correctly due to the length of the rifle vs. the length of a girl that age's arms. I ended up cutting the stock down to the correct length for her and everything was fine.

[–]mrnotloc 164 points165 points ago

Exactly what I was thinking. These are the people giving us bad reputations.

[–]shadow8449[S] 219 points220 points ago

Not going to argue much with correct form since if it wasn't a bb gun she would have gotten hurt but its a pump up bb gun. Recoil is so minimal and it's not like she has the ability to pump it up all that much.

[–]ThunderMountain 18 points19 points ago

TIL what teacupping a handgun means. Here is a picture example.

[–]Krispyz 2 points3 points ago

You'll see it in TV shows a lot now. It bothers me.

[–]dieselgeek 6 points7 points ago

I'm sure she's holding it like that because the stock does not fit her.

If you do teach her correctly, then she she shoots something like THIS it won't cut her face open.

[–]Cablefist 248 points249 points ago

There really is no good excuse to no learn properly from the beginning.

Cool picture/story though =]

[–]MMD86 61 points62 points ago

Next thing you know she'll be teacupping... or even worse... gripping her own wrist.

THE HORRORS.

[–]cockyjeremy 72 points73 points ago

I see the "correct" way to hold a gun as any that doesn't involve pointing it at yourself.

[–]Dredly 30 points31 points ago

clearly stock is to long for her, she'll grow into it :)

[–]zyzzogeton 10 points11 points ago

Careful you don't lose an eye then if that rifle has a scope.

[–]akumadiavolo 10 points11 points ago

BB guns don't kick much.

[–]Saigancat 4 points5 points ago

If she is learning how to shoot she should learn to do it correctly early on, regardless of what she is shooting.

[–]Nihhrt 5 points6 points ago

The poster above you already lost an O, we better watch out!

[–]serealport 6 points7 points ago

as someone who has both miniature goats and rifles i love this picture

[–]UhOhOreo2012 2 points3 points ago

I wonder what your reaction will be after seeing Honey Boo Boo go to a gun range.

[–]amuhammed82393 9 points10 points ago

What's wrong with teacupping?

[–]ProjectD13X 17 points18 points ago

You're not putting as many contact points on the firearm as possible, you're just wasting hand mass that could be used to give more control over the weapon.

[–]amuhammed82393 2 points3 points ago

Ahhhh.... Thank you

[–]Redcard911 20 points21 points ago

Heck I use correct trigger discipline on the barcode scanner gun at work!

[–]hydrogenous 22 points23 points ago

I'm generally one of those anal-retentive safety guys with my firearms, but I shoot everything with the barcode scanners...

[–]awkward___silence 15 points16 points ago

My eyes!!!

[–]hydrogenous 31 points32 points ago

pewpewpew

[–]SatinHandyWipe 8 points9 points ago

Maybe dad is trying to upgrade her Steady Aim perk?

[–]CaLLmeRaaandy 6 points7 points ago

It's how bad habits are formed.

[–]hardtogetaname 8 points9 points ago

perhaps we came from difference places. but i've never seen a bb gun with recoil at all. -_- though yeah they are weak, but just saying.

[–]shadow8449[S] 73 points74 points ago

Technically speaking every gun as some sort of recoil (i.e. physics law of conservation of momentum). The recoil is so low in this case that you would hardly be able to feel it

[–]DannyDeck 31 points32 points ago

Technically correct, the best kind of correct!

[–]Take_Me_To_Elysium 7 points8 points ago

Is there a bad kind of correct?

[–]smiling_stranger 28 points29 points ago

incorrect

[–]isthatmyex 4 points5 points ago

I love in movies where one dude shots another launching him across the room. Except physics tells us the shooter should be launched farther as the recoil has more energy than the round.

[–]zend3r 6 points7 points ago

I've always wondered; that idea holds true in a vacuum, but if the shooter is braced to fire the weapon and the victim is off balance, then it stands to reason that they would be affected differently doesn't it? Obviously they wouldn't fly across the room like crazy, but there could conceivably be differing effects.

[–]Clayburn 22 points23 points ago

Come on, guys. It's a BB gun.

[–]wherethebuffaloroam 5 points6 points ago

My grandfather let me shoot a 410 that way. I missed the squirrel and instead got three stitches. Best story is telling how I went squirrel hunting and the squirrel won

[–]prematurity 5 points6 points ago

That's why my daughter (also 7) moved quickly from the Red Ryder to a Crickett 22. The crickett has a much shorter overall length and fits her so much better.

[–]Lightening84 5 points6 points ago

The punchline is the OP is a male.

[–]dieselgeek 3 points4 points ago

It's a BB gun, something tells me it doesn't have a lot of recoil.

[–]TuRbii 123 points124 points ago

Assuming OP is a guy... makes this post so much better.

[–]alreadytakenusername 21 points22 points ago

Gender stabilization engaged!

[–]TedtheTeddyBear 12 points13 points ago

Barbies had boobs bro!

[–]lngjohnslvr 216 points217 points ago

A gun that fires dogs?! I want one too!

[–]Heep_Purple 46 points47 points ago

I can't unsee it. Now it looks like the dog is photoshopped on.

[–]etan_causale 21 points22 points ago

[–]pooptopoop 7 points8 points ago

Perspective ! Miracles !

[–]woofers02 10 points11 points ago

pew-woof pew-woof pew-woof

[–]UnD34d_Do0d 5 points6 points ago

In my brain it is like the cat silencers from postal 2

[–]TheRealFlinger 29 points30 points ago

See the look of concern on the dog's face?

[–]snap_wilson 10 points11 points ago

"You'll shoot your eye out, kid."

[–]Charm_City_Charlie 72 points73 points ago

Source.
1. It's a BB gun, no recoil, she'll be fine even if not holding it properly.
2. It's a lever action BB gun, so it doesn't even have the power to do much of anything.
3. It's adorable.

[–]shadow8449[S] 36 points37 points ago

I'm happy you could notice that :)

and yes shes is and always has been adorable.

Our dad got this for my little brothers one year and my baby sister insisted it was hers... She pretended to use it whenever she had the chance (she was turning 3 here)

http://imgur.com/15pUO http://imgur.com/24jGb

[–]bigsol81 20 points21 points ago

I sense a tomboy in the making.

That's not a bad thing, either.

[–]MY_TOES_ARE_ON_FIRE 0 points1 point ago

4 . The dog is not actually directly in the line of fire.

[–]korkyshadow 25 points26 points ago

Moral of the story your sister is cooler than you.

[–]andrewsmith1986 71 points72 points ago

A bbgun with a dog silencer?

[–]prkrsr 21 points22 points ago

Reminds me of postal 2... That was disturbing.

[–]SemiSeriousSam 3 points4 points ago

Those poor cats. . . .

[–]Kren42 19 points20 points ago

So... Sansa and Arya.

Edit: Spelling (Because I am an idiot)

[–]Beetlebum95 11 points12 points ago

Arya*

I'm sorry.

[–]schploing 7 points8 points ago

The Canadian is strong with this one.

[–]BGYeti 2 points3 points ago

Arya, just so you know, and on a side note great book series so far

[–]cntlscrut 41 points42 points ago

Parent: How about a nice Barbie?

Daughter as Adult: [narrating] Barbie? Barbie? What's a Barbie? With unconscious will my voice squeaked out 'Barbie'.

Parent: Okay, get her out of here.

Daughter as Adult: [narrating] A barbie? Oh no, what was I doing? Wake up, Stupid! Wake up!

Daughter: [Daughter is shoved down the slide, but she stops herself and climbs back up] No! No! I want an Official Pink Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle!

Parent: You'll shoot your eye out, kid.

(edited for your pleasure)

[–]USMCEvan 6 points7 points ago

First thing I thought when I saw this pic.

You. You are a smart man. I'd buy you a case of beer.

[–]beansmachine 5 points6 points ago

Parents bought my younger brother and I our first vehicles - we're 3 years apart in age. I got a 1990 Camry that barely ran (then 2005,) and he got a 2001\2 Dodge Cummins 2500 (then 2008 and his "dream car.")

Not one to usually complain about free things but come on! The stereotype that "the younger siblings are more spoiled" has been, at least in my case, true throughout our lives.

[–]Animal_Mother27 5 points6 points ago

Time to get her a 10/22

[–]AngrySquirrelX 18 points19 points ago

[–]Popinfresh1 2 points3 points ago

good call baby doll!

[–]Doctorwhoisawsome 4 points5 points ago

Your sister is Hit Girl

[–]Basher_52 3 points4 points ago

You'll shoot your eye out!

[–]waynejonbrady 8 points9 points ago

It fires black labs?

[–]raging_asshole 3 points4 points ago

Looks a lot like the Red Rider lever-action BB gun that I still have in my closet to this day.

Except mine's not pink, of course.

Promise.

[–]ServerGeek 5 points6 points ago

"Listen here pup, you no longer run this house."

[–]AfroBro 8 points9 points ago

She knows what's up.

[–]rioki88 31 points32 points ago

shooting a gun one of the several life skills everyone should know

[–]sehrah 55 points56 points ago

This is a very American thing.

Edit: People are having a poo, so I'm going to ammend this to "This is a very North-American thing.". Happy Canadians?

[–]Arquis001 48 points49 points ago

As a Canadian, I don't see anything wrong with learning how to handle a weapon. Quite fun to do too. Hey, you never know right? One night you're just out taking the trash and then, BAM super-intelligent bear army chasing you.

[–]Bobzer 21 points22 points ago

As an Irish person who has seen a real gun no more than 3 times in my entire life I would welcome the opportunity to learn to use a gun properly and safely.

I respect it as a tool and a weapon but the gun culture in th US is simply frightening.

[–]handsomesteve88 16 points17 points ago

Yes, but for the most part people we are raised around guns. We are taught gun safety and to respect them. It's a lot like driving a car, to someone who has never really been around cars the idea of driving 80mph down the highway would probably be terrifying. However, to most of the civilized world we don't tleven think twice about driving on the highway going 80 with a bunch of other vehicles moving all around us. Guns are the same way, we are raised with them and taught about them from an early age so that the is just another tool available to us if needed. Plus it is a lot of fun to shoot recreation ally either at a range or if you have enough land out there.

[–]gder 37 points38 points ago

It's blown pretty far out of proportion. Not everyone in the US is carrying a gun all the time.

[–]bkayh685 38 points39 points ago

And the ones that are carrying are cool, down-to-earth people 99% of the time. People only ever talk about the outliers.

[–]Animal_Mother27 8 points9 points ago

May I ask what seams frightening about it?

[–]ChimpsAhoy 0 points1 point ago

Why would it be frightening? I think everybody ought to own and know how to operate a firearm. Self defense is a personal responsibility and gun ownership is an exercise of civil liberties.

[–]Clayburn 13 points14 points ago

This explains why we win wars.

[–]johnau 0 points1 point ago

It explains why Israel wins wars too.. Everyone in that country is bloody armed to the teeth.

[–]Friedchickenisha 4 points5 points ago

Canadian here;

This situation is very common here. I shot my first dbl barrel at 11.

[–]SQUID_FUCKER 3 points4 points ago

No it isn't.

[–]Verbose_Slayer 4 points5 points ago

oww, we Europeans have to got to Switzerland for that......or buy a nerf gun.....

[–]OutofSpec 9 points10 points ago

You guys cant have bb guns?

[–]Verbose_Slayer 3 points4 points ago

yeah but the bb guns that people buy have lower power and are clear, translucent or brightly colored.

[–]Fencemuffin 2 points3 points ago

Wait, what? I live in Finland and almost everyone I know owns one of these (or at least someone in their close family does).

[–]killswitchdh 21 points22 points ago

Life lesson in 3, 2,1...

[–]kirbz1692 37 points38 points ago

[–]giraffricanamerican 21 points22 points ago

Her Daisy BB gun kicks like a mule. A dead one.

[–]DoodleVnTaintschtain 42 points43 points ago

It's a pink BB gun... Unless she pinches her finger while pumping it, or looks down the barrel, there is no chance she hurts herself.

[–]swuboo 4 points5 points ago

That kid ain't looking down the barrel without the help of a chair to stand on.

[–]red321red321 5 points6 points ago

You'll shoot your eye out!

[–]Matt_McSteezy -1 points0 points ago

Now lets go find some cats!

[–]mtocrat 2 points3 points ago

better get her some costume

[–]domo-loves-yoshi 0 points1 point ago

Ahh, daddies little princess, that's so sweet. (no sarcasm, I wholeheartedly meant that)

[–]seagoat8888 -1 points0 points ago

I'm not sure what an upvote on this means. Guns are cute?

[–]corpsejelly 2 points3 points ago

Your sister is cooler than you.

[–]TheUsualChaos -1 points0 points ago

I remember when I got my very own "My first Black Eye" toy.

[–]BengaliTurtle 2 points3 points ago

Hit-Girl?

[–]LittleSkittle 2 points3 points ago

You got screwed. That gun definitely cost more than a barbie.

[–]Mordilaa 2 points3 points ago

Your sister might be a badass.

[–]TrepanationBy45 1 point2 points ago

Stared at that dog-shaped suppressor for way too long.

[–]alphanetworking 3 points4 points ago

My daughter was nine when she got her first .22 We enrolled in the local 4H shooting sports club and she went to state. She currently has 3 .22's and wants this one http://www.tacticalsol.com/tshome/complete-rifles in purple or pink. First thing you are taught in the 4H is safety, the next thing you are taught it safety. Then they let you shoot.

[–]AhhhClem 0 points1 point ago

Your sister asked for a shotgun with a dog stuck on the end?

[–]CDUB23 2 points3 points ago

She asked for an internal server error?

[–]Entish01 0 points1 point ago

A tiny dog jammed in a gun?

[–]SwaggaMcDaddy 0 points1 point ago

The dogs face just says "this can't end well"

[–]hinnomaki 2 points3 points ago

A Rossi youth gun just might be in her future. In fact, it might be better for dad to ditch the Daisy.

My girls have the same problem with the Daisy. Butt of stock too far from trigger ( length of pull ) but the design of the Rossi might make teaching and learning easier/safer? for kids.

[–]javijuji 2 points3 points ago

I would have asked for a lab too.

[–]scumbag-reddit 1 point2 points ago

Terrible form.

[–]kumminehyayha 1 point2 points ago

already preparing for the zombie apocalypse...smart kid

[–]whiskeydeltatango -1 points0 points ago

A dog?

[–]EbranLoL 1 point2 points ago

Your sister will be an absolute badass when she grows up (hopefully).

[–]surrenderat20GG 0 points1 point ago

I thought she was shooting the dog for a second

[–]awkward_andrea 0 points1 point ago

Who else thought that she had a super fancy gun with a dog decoration at the front? Just me?

[–]BlimeyChaps 1 point2 points ago

A pink gun which uses a dog as a silencer? That's pretty damn cool

[–]DarkSideOL 1 point2 points ago

[–]LordoftheGodKings 1 point2 points ago

Daddy's little girl.

[–]thelastradish -1 points0 points ago

Arya Stark?

[–]bohemianmichfestie 1 point2 points ago

That takes me right back to my tomboy days.

[–]onemoreloser -1 points0 points ago

you'll shoot your eye out kid

[–]save_le_trolls -1 points0 points ago

I remember when I was about 9 or 10 in the cub scouts firing air rifles and I put my eye up against the scope...

[–]TheBait2498 1 point2 points ago

Red Ryder bb gun my first gun to!!!!!

[–]Mypetkiwi -1 points0 points ago

Arya?

[–]makinganotheraccount 1 point2 points ago

Your sister is better than you.

[–]Sir_LurksNoLonger 1 point2 points ago

Well, I guess we know which one of you is going to survive the zombie apocalypse.

[–]fatcat535 1 point2 points ago

Hope the OP is a girl. 1 lesson, ya never know what you'll get until ya ask.

[–]IcecreamDave -2 points-1 points ago

a black eye?

[–]melkor214 -1 points0 points ago

We found the cat murderer!

[–]epitimos -2 points-1 points ago

At least it has pink on it.

[–]This_isR2Me -2 points-1 points ago

black eye in 3... 2... 1... "MOOOMMMMYYY"

[–]floogle7 -1 points0 points ago

"YOU'LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT! YOU'LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT! YOU'LL SHOOT YOU EYE OUT!"

[–]sparklyjesus 1 point2 points ago

That's the craziest damn suppressor I've ever seen!

[–]ichigo2862 -1 points0 points ago

My little rifle!

[–]lospinas 1 point2 points ago

Cmon, this is a pink version of the Red Ryder BB guns. Its hard to even break skin with those lever action models. Its not like she got an actual firearm. Dont see why this deserves upvotes or a major reaction.

For reference, my 13th birthday present was my first shotgun. It was a Remington 20 gauge youth model.

[–]peanutsgalore 1 point2 points ago

You're sister is a bad ass

[–]Monee_shark 0 points1 point ago

So you could say you asked for a barbie, and she asked for a Beebee!1!

[–]CDfm -1 points0 points ago

Who killed Barbie?

[–]Verbicide -1 points0 points ago

Reenacting Old Yeller?

[–]MissTian 1 point2 points ago

Ron Swanson approves!

[–]loveVdub 1 point2 points ago

Good to see he's getting ready for when the world turns to shit.

[–]Lily_May 1 point2 points ago

I, also, asked for and recieved one of those on my seventh birthday, along with a tacklebox, and a "grown-up" toolbox. Also, a rollerskating baby doll.

[–]VicYesterday -1 points0 points ago

LASSIE, NO!

[–]topchief1 0 points1 point ago

Old Yeller?

[–]Sin6060 -1 points0 points ago

Terrible stance.

[–]DennishIrst 0 points1 point ago

Damn dog.

[–]ingoldsby 0 points1 point ago

A gun with a dog attached to the end?

[–]iamthesherpa -1 points0 points ago

you must be from vermont

[–]_THE_WIFE 0 points1 point ago

The dog looks worried.

[–]PackmanR -1 points0 points ago

At least it's pink, I guess.

[–]yxl8100 -2 points-1 points ago

Shes about to get a black eye for her bday too

[–]FineFilth 0 points1 point ago

Now I feel like there is hope for the next generation !

[–]annoying_guy_w_guns 0 points1 point ago

HELLS YEAH GIRL

[–]zargonman 0 points1 point ago

RIP doggy

[–]weaversarms 0 points1 point ago

She asked for a pink rifle with a small dog stuck to the end?

[–]usumoio 0 points1 point ago

Your sister is the bad-ass....

[–]greenspank34 -1 points0 points ago

Guys it's okay. She's aiming at a print out picture of Honey Boo Boo

[–]skatedaddy 0 points1 point ago

A gun to kill tiny dogs? How rude.

[–]scarcrow359 0 points1 point ago

That dog is judging the shit out of her.

[–]redorangeblue 0 points1 point ago

at least she got it in pink!

[–]LookMaNoHands9822 -1 points0 points ago

What a horrible parent!! I mean jesus, that needs to be in her shoulder, not under... and extend that front hand out further to steady the aim. Parents these days...

[–]DoingTreeScience 0 points1 point ago

Of course its pink... BLEH

[–]AFoolishDuckXx 0 points1 point ago

My little brother has that but in brown, The Red Rider BB gun.

[–]fusiono 1 point2 points ago

this kills the dog.

[–]oglerintheocean 0 points1 point ago

TIL that barbie lever action rifles come with sights that look like tiny black labradors.

[–]VelocityVandetta 0 points1 point ago

Never too young to start prepping for the apocalypse.

[–]jackinthecrapper 0 points1 point ago

Now Sansa, be nice to your sister.

[–]Baconopolis 0 points1 point ago

pink daisy rifles!

[–]Manbearcatward 0 points1 point ago

i fear for the dog.

[–]Konstiin 1 point2 points ago

Guess who gets more in the will?

[–]seamuss1 -1 points0 points ago

Thought this was going to be another one of those "kids these days..."

[–]bulletbill23 -1 points0 points ago

Why is she shooting that tiny dog?

[–]banana_sticker 0 points1 point ago

A dog gun?

[–]Bryguy100 0 points1 point ago

Your sister wouldn't happen to be Hit Girl, would she?

[–]poonchinello 0 points1 point ago

You are Sansa. Your sister is Arya.

[–]pertoosis -1 points0 points ago

She's doing it wrong.

[–]midnightsweetie 0 points1 point ago

Your sister is probably going to be invariably cooler than you
