Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

[–]TheOven 1 point2 points ago

No wifi

Must be abandoned

[–]erturner 1 point2 points ago

I am currently visiting Ireland for a friend's wedding and have largely managed to have a rain-free trip. I consider myself very lucky.

[–]Wongy10000000 0 points1 point ago

I came here to say this! The weather makes the picture look ridiculous.

[–]LeopardKhan 54 points55 points ago

I upvoted this because we need the tourist money.

[–]haventwemet 4 points5 points ago

Ditto.

[–]DeusExMachinist 37 points38 points ago

This is the quaint little seaside town of Saturation, Ireland.

[–]TardisKing 6 points7 points ago

We need a pic of a Dalek screaming, "OVERSATURATE!"

[–]Rather_Dashing 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, the sea is never that shade of blue in real life. Source: I have seen the sea.

[–]shane_oh4 0 points1 point ago

[–]evindedzis 40 points41 points ago

Never realized there are two Suns in Ireland!

[–]quazimoto69 25 points26 points ago

Agreed. This picture is like a 7th grader's first photoshop project.

[–]Cheesydude 17 points18 points ago

Here's what that sort of area actually looks like.

[–]Electro_Sapien 5 points6 points ago

[–]Sandwichballs 0 points1 point ago

[–]marshall19 7 points8 points ago

[–]Stormsailor 13 points14 points ago

With an I shot JR T-shirt.

[–]SigRadke 0 points1 point ago

either that or some buckfast and maybe a bottle of tesco's finest vodka.

[–]cauldcuts[!] 8 points9 points ago

Something interesting I recently learned about Ireland, and by extension the British Isles: Before the neolitihic, the British Isles were much more heavily wooded. It was only after the introduction of farming that these forests began to dissappear as land was claimed for agriculture. What little that was left has been mostly eliminated over the proceeding milennia.

So that sometimes romantic, and always surreal image of rolling green hills and empty pasture that you associate with Ireland is actually the result of habitat destruction. It's the peculiar image of an ecological extermination 6000 years in the making.

edit: Why am I being downvoted for sharing an interesting fact? I'm not shitting on the photo or the intent of the OP in sharing. I just thought it was interesting.

[–]tomtermite 1 point2 points ago

Downvoted because... Ireland denuded by the British to build their fleet and cathedrals. Also, this.

But I Upvote you... Just 'cause

[–]Mortimer_P 3 points4 points ago

The photoshopping on this picture is phemonemal. How did he even put the house in there so perfectly.

[–]Br1tt12 2 points3 points ago

It looks like 5 pics put together

[–]Yunners 3 points4 points ago

Where is this? It looks like the Dingle Peninsula.

[–]kamikazicondon 3 points4 points ago

Guessing it's somewhere on the west coast because that looks like a sunset.

[–]Yunners 3 points4 points ago

The islands looks like the Blaskets, which is why I'm thinking Dingle.

[–]kamikazicondon 1 point2 points ago

This^

I spent all of my childhood summers in Ballyferriter...those were the days.

[–]carlcon 0 points1 point ago

It's nowhere. Or several places. Depending on how you view it. This is photoshopped to hell and has at least three different places shown.

[–]longhairedfreakyppl 0 points1 point ago

good to see they got this photo when it wasnt raining.. mustve been last year... it was a good day!

[–]harv1000 2 points3 points ago

We do have some breathtaking scenery here in Ireland. That is when it's not raining.

[–]piinadao 0 points1 point ago

Hmm...I always thought it'd be bigger.

[–]pinball_wizard85 1 point2 points ago

Ahhh, home. I miss Dingle.

[–]come_and_take_it_TX 0 points1 point ago

I thought this was on the Dingle peninsula drive! Drove it last year. Was breathtaking. I would go back to Dingle again and again.

[–]bear_trap 1 point2 points ago

Just went to Dingle this summer. Stayed in the Rainbow Hostel, it was amazing. I can't believe it but I actually just put photos of it on Flickr earlier today. Here's one of the same place: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephendagley/8064794478/in/set-72157631716295537/

[–]HelpfulToAll -1 points0 points ago

I'll never forget the 2 weeks I spent there.

Wait, What do you mean I spent a month there?!

Edit: I accidentally a word.

[–]poop22_ 0 points1 point ago

Welp. Time to move to Ireland.

[–]ShakesBaer -2 points-1 points ago

You've found the Shire!

[–]Choralone 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure I've been there.. west coast, north of Dingle?

That looks like the Sleeping Giant out in the water, no?

[–]LoveOfProfit 0 points1 point ago

The dual suns really mess with me. 0/10 would not look again.

Are these the Aran Islands?

[–]MasterCronus -2 points-1 points ago

Someone went to Ireland and only brought their cameraphone?

[–]bgbopper 0 points1 point ago

oh! oh! I hope someone can answer this:

my wife and I spent a week driving around Ireland during our three-week honeymoon in Europe, and I have some pictures of the huge island back and to the left of this image. Here it is closer. Anyone know anything about this? Does the island have a name? Is that a town, or one family's land? Can it be visited? There were so many amazing sights all around Ireland, and there are a few places I had questions about that we didn't have time to find answers to at the time, this being one of them.

[–]Cheesydude 0 points1 point ago

It would be helpful to know what county you were in at the time. I'm guessing either Mayo or Galway.

[–]bgbopper 0 points1 point ago

it's somewhere between Dingle and Galway. in the timing of the pictures, it came after visiting Dingle and just before we visited the Gallarus Oratory, which I believe we saw on the way to Galway.

[–]The-Islander 1 point2 points ago

It's called the Great Blasket, off the west coast of Co. Kerry. There used to be a sizable settlement but it was abandoned in 1953 (my great-grandfather lived there all his life). There's a couple of ferry services that operate in the summer. Here's a link to the wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blasket_islands

[–]bgbopper 0 points1 point ago

Thank you SO much!!! Sounds like it has an interesting story with an unfortunate ending. I can't believe it's been abandoned 60 years and yet it still looks like a decent-sized town still exists. I'll have to check out some of those books, thanks again :-D

[–]JtCallebro -3 points-2 points ago

Needs less blue. Needs more grey.
