I like the "weh". For some reason that made the whole thing much funnier.

I just noticed Hagrid. lol.

[–]staticwaves 51 points52 points ago

Did he look like a window with curtains to you as well? Took me minute lol.

[–]glasswing 21 points22 points ago

I thought he was another house.

[–]Kill_Welly 23 points24 points ago

Well, it's justified in the story as Harry's family's home giving him a form of protection, some aftereffect of his mother's sacrifice. Plus if Dumbledore didn't drop every protection he could muster on the house I'd be quite surprised.

[–]leahhhhh 11 points12 points ago

I thought that Petunia's acceptance of Harry into her home was what ultimately sealed the protective spell. I may be wrong, but I think she had a choice whether or not to leave him to the wolves, or to take him in.

[–]clicksnhisses 2 points3 points ago

I doubt she knew that at the time she brought him inside the house which would have sealed the magic.

She may not even known who the hell Harry was, just some baby left on the stoop.

[–]doobiedoob1 2 points3 points ago

Plus who wants to read about his neck having ample support? We want grit, Bitches

[–]willyolioa scientific approach to magic 1 point2 points ago

look, it didn't stop Harry from being beat up by dudley and his friends. or Dementors. as far as we can tell it ONLY provided protection against voldemort and death eaters. i doubt hypothermia or feral animals would have been stopped by the blood wards.

[–]achshar 12 points13 points ago

Well dark lord was gone, most of his supporters were vanished and who is to say dumbledore did not have charms to protect the locality like in the deathly hallows right before harry left his uncle's house with the order?

[–]Todomanna 12 points13 points ago

The entire reason he was left there was because of the old magic protections living with family would give him.

[–]Otium20 30 points31 points ago

Had the story been real then harry would have died that night. he would have been left outside all night til they found him in the morning.

Scumbag Fumbledore could not even bother to ring the bell

[–]seromm 28 points29 points ago

Except he was safe because his aunt share the blood of his mother.

[–]Otium20 49 points50 points ago

Am sure that will safe him from Hypothermia =P

[–]seromm 25 points26 points ago

Wasn't he wrapped in cloth, though? I haven't read the books for a long time. Also, even young wizards can unwillingly use their powers to survive - just like Neville bounced on the ground when his.. grandpa? I think it was his grandpa threw him out of the window accidentally.
I thought you were talking about death eaters killing him more than frostbite, to be honest.

[–]Nokel 13 points14 points ago

Wasn't it his Great-Uncle who did that? His name was Algie I think.

[–]seromm 5 points6 points ago

Oh yeah, probably. As I said, I haven't read them in a while.

[–]noyurawk 3 points4 points ago

Neville bounced on the ground when his.. grandpa?

Weirdest sentence of the day.

[–]glasswing 1 point2 points ago

Depends what time of year it was.

[–]PadfootandProngs 6 points7 points ago

It was November 1st... so pretty chilly. Maybe Dumbledore cast a warmth charm on him before he dropped him off.

[–]eccentricreach 0 points1 point ago

Also, even young wizards can use their powers to survive - just like Neville bounced on the ground when... his grandpa? I think it was... when his grandpa accidentally threw him out of the window.

FTFY

unwillingly is debatable because you imply that they will to survive.

[–]Second_FoundationeerPure of Heart is Pure of Blood 0 points1 point ago

Unwittingly is what you're looking for.

[–]blue_strat 0 points1 point ago

Wasn't it in July?

[–]leloupbleu 10 points11 points ago

It was November 1st. IIRC, Dumbledore arrived at 4 Privet Drive just after midnight on Halloween night. I don't completely remember if it being Halloween is mentioned in the first book, but the seventh definitely mentions some Muggle children trick-or-treating when Voldemort arrives in Godric's Hollow.

[–]Berdiie -3 points-2 points ago

He would be very, very mosquito bitten.

[–]blue_strat 6 points7 points ago

In Surrey?

[–]pgan91 5 points6 points ago

I realize that this might be giving Dumbledore too much credit, but I'm under the assumption that the protection set up from the blood or whatever, was the safest possible place for Harry, and that, if kept with anybody else, he would have died that night.

Like... the Longbottoms, who were both Aurors, yet still got tortured to insanity even after voldermort died.

[–]GargamelCuntSnarf 2 points3 points ago

Hardcastle McCormick pleads with Dumbledore not to go through with the plan. What plan, you ask? Well, they are going to leave this veritable weapon of the gods, this paradox of baby-ness and power, right here, on a frickin' Muggle's doorstep!

[–]mrfunkyland 0 points1 point ago

This is great. Are there more?

[–]opaleyedragon 1 point2 points ago

Leaving this paradox of babyness and power, right here on a frickin muggle's doorstep! Willikers!

[–]ruth_mcdougle 1 point2 points ago

Where is this from?

[–]mochara -5 points-4 points ago

Was this not up just a couple of days ago?
