Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:

In Borderlands 2 when i find a weapon with multiplied damage (i.imgur.com)

A shotgun does 1000x3 damage. It has a magazine size of 1. However, it uses 5 ammo per shot.... wat. I think I'll just judge by that little green/red arrow.

Edit: x3 means how many pellets it fires, but my point stands.

I found a shotgun with 1983x16, it required me to do math.

  • Round to 2000
  • Multiply by 16
  • "It does about 32000 damage"

Simple enough. In this process there's a little less than 300 damage difference between the actual value and estimated value, and 300 damage is nothing when it comes to late-game TVHM.

Side note:

It still takes 5 shots from your total ammo count.

Example: You have 200 shotgun rounds. You have a shotgun with a 1 round magazine. Shotgun says it uses 5 ammo per shot.

You fire shotgun, emptying the magazine, and reload.

You have inserted 1 shotgun round into the shotgun.

However, you now have 195 ammo. The game still eats up the ammo.

I'm pretty sure the "x3" part of the damage is how many pellets the shotgun fires.

Eh, it took me a while to realize that myself. And when I did realize it, I realized it applied to rocket launchers and grenade mods as well.

I just realized I have been tricked. These guns only do the max damage if all bullets hit. I thought it was multiplied just for fun. :0

Reddit may hate authority, but everybody hates brownnosers.

That said while this technically VIOLATES DA ROOOLS, it's relevant and amusing to me, therefore I approve of it.

AS for on topic... I just compare the two numbers. If it's 14x4 and I come across a 16x6 weapon I'm gonna get an upgrade. Actually I'll keep both and sell the old one, unless I have a special reason for liking the old one.

This is why I was really hoping Borderlands 2 would have a DPS stat. Would of made deciding what weapon to use much quicker
