All these people live with the desire to die for their god and have no qualms about killing others to accomplish it. They push off one more day in this world with the notion that dying will bring them eternal peace of mind and lead them to a land of salvation and bliss. They don't focus on living for today. Honestly, r/atheism is something I avoid, because the popular posts are often very personal encounters experienced by very few. This on the other hand, is an amazing collective/archive of hate generated by the most common religions in the world. I do not think that those who have faith in organized religion are wrong, I realize that many of them can be pleasant people, but I have never been presented with such a wide difference between how atheists and the 'faithful' act. I have experienced the most whiney and irritating of atheist (potentially), but typically that is where it ends. Nonetheless, I doubt a page like this could be filled as thoroughly with hate from atheists agianst any type of people - even if you account for the population diff. This only only bothers me more, because I also have a prejudice against athiests. I identify with them (I am not a religious person), but I never understood why atheists needed to be so outspoken and passionate about their disbelief. In a nut shell... this helps. Good luck to the activist atheists!
TLDR: This changed how I view the proper athiest.

I feel ashamed that I'm not working to stop it. I am ashamed that I know people who are like this. And I want to make it so nobody ever uses their beliefs as a basis for what is right and wrong. While these are all good examples of the direct, horrible evils of religion and very good reasons to be against religion, if you ask me there are worse offenses. Such as how religion undermines skepticism and critical thinking in populations, which in turn opens up all of humanity to all kinds of other problems. It's really the indirect damage that religion can do that is most worrisome.

I'm preparing for some downvotes, but I have no idea why Tim Tebow is pictured here. I have no problem with the guy. I've never heard him speak or back hatred or discrimination, he just has his beliefs and he is proud of them, like MANY faithful who despise all the things pictured in this post, which are done in their religion's name. An important point that a friend brought up when I showed him this is that the news primarily shares bad news, because it sells more. As eye opening as this image is, keep in mind that these most prominent displays of religious aggression and the like are but a small percentage of the actual population within these religious groups. My friend who brought this up is very much a Christian, and he was upset that this image was reflecting poorly upon all of Christianity in the same way that a bad light is typically shed upon all of Atheism. His religious involvement is about love and acceptance, not the oppressive bullshit that this image conveys.

Just something to keep in mind. This isn't to diminish the impact of this compilation of stories any less, and I understand the message it's sending, but it is a generalization. It's a damn shame that the most prominent stories revolving around religion are these demonstrations of hate and violence.

About half way down, there is a report about anti-gay bullying related suicides (involving Seth Walsh and Billy Lucas). This actually caught my eye because I recognized their names from the Rise Against song "Make it Stop". I listened to it again, and looked at their pictures. When their names were read, I got chills. Nobody should have to try and endure what they did.
