Uhh probably not when you are unconscious.. You should never give anyone any type of food/drink when they are unconscious. If someone is diabetic they will most likely have a glucagon that is very much like an epi pen. I have no idea why I was down voted.. Never give an unconscious person food or drink.

Definitely at risk with insulin when the person is unconscious. In a first-aid situation you should always treat as if the person is hypoglycaemic (low sugar) because that is an immediate threat to their life, so give them sugar. A person who is hyperglycaemic (high sugar) can also fall unconcious and have a lot of negative consequences but is at much less risk. So if you give a hyper person sugar, you're not going to kill them, but giving a hypo person insulin might.

Exactly... and I don't want anyone who's not medically qualified giving me insulin while i'm out. It seems to be a common misconception that you should give an unconscious diabetic insulin.

As a diabetic I would like to say: if she was fainting from low blood sugar she should have glucose directly injected into her. If she was in Kedo Acidoses insulin would be beyond help and she should go to the ICU immediately as even if her blood sugar was normal or would mean she has an excessive amount of aci in her blood

Glucose isn't very viscous so it would be hard to get a lot of glucose in intravenously. You would put the glucose gel (which she would probably have in her purse) on your fingers and rub it on the inside of her (face) cheeks.

That's true, but all type 1 diabetics are supposed to Cary around something called a "Glucagon pen" which is similar to normal injections aside from the fact that its a liquid form of glucose.

I think you're thinking of glycerol, glucose isn't viscous at all (just think of table sugar which is 50% glucose). 5% dextrose for example is a common concentration for infusion.

That and diabetic keto acidosis is not a quick, acute process like hypoglycemia. You wont have someone suddenly go into a coma (by suddenly I mean over the course of a few hours), instead they'd be showing terrible diabetic symptoms over course of weeks (e.g. polydipsia, polyuria), have terrible smelling breathe, etc.

It needs to be kept in a temperature a bit lower than the average, so it's usually stored in fridges. Or at least, the one that my father is using :/
