The fact that this was xposted from r/mildlyinteresting to r/woahdude is hilarious.

[–]HanSolenoid 50 points51 points ago

Almost worthy of a woahdude submission in it's own right.

[–]Sfugius 87 points88 points ago

Can we get a picture of the building from a different angle? WE NEED CLOSURE

[–]14h0urs 64 points65 points ago

Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My brain was starting to melt so badly that I almost put the joint down and prayed for a photoshop.

[–]joedude 31 points32 points ago

i swore at first what i was seeing was one building that was INSANELY reflective blocking part of the building.

[–]frosty122 0 points1 point ago

Fucking shit, now that's all I can see.

[–]sandwermCosmic 10 points11 points ago

I'm not even high right now and my brain was having a meltdown

[–]Gackt 2 points3 points ago

+1

[–]THEsolid85 2 points3 points ago

almost. LOL.

[–]whininghippo 4 points5 points ago

Almost nothing is so bad that you actually need to put the joint down. :P

[–]ieatbees 3 points4 points ago

That could be a bad place to have a corner office.

[–]Gackt 1 point2 points ago

EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE AGAIN NOW.

[–]WobbleWade 24 points25 points ago

Wedge shape, herp derp.

[–]kirky1148 33 points34 points ago

upvote for really fucking my brains ability to comprehend reality!

[–]Geinfest 25 points26 points ago

My friend took a photo of a similar thing! Pic

[–]Noctox 26 points27 points ago

What brand of toaster did he take this picture with?

[–]Geinfest 8 points9 points ago

A Blackberry I think, haha.

[–]bearXential 2 points3 points ago

I think the photo is fine, and the haziness is due to a fog, rather than lack definition

[–]Hughtub -1 points0 points ago

DSLR, but instagrammed with some shitty filter.

[–]disimcity 0 points1 point ago

Best comment I've read all month.

[–]Phlexonance 34 points35 points ago

You know what they say: One man's /r/mildlyinteresting is another man's r/whoadude

[–]MisterArathos 5 points6 points ago

Remember, always put the forwardslash both before and after the r. Also, it's called /r/woahdude, not /r/whoadude.

[–]PatMan33 1 point2 points ago

Huh... never noticed that before. So the subreddit's name is spelled wrong? That kind of blows my mind.

Neat!

[–]MostlyIronicLatinGuy 2 points3 points ago

Both spellings are correct, I believe.

[–]pulga1094 8 points9 points ago

I just spent 5 minutes thinking of possible shapes for this building

[–]upstreamsalmon 1 point2 points ago

I used to work by this building. I would pass it every day and it took me a long while to comprehend it

[–]nalien647 12 points13 points ago

explain please!

[–]tnick771 23 points24 points ago

It's just a wedge shape.........

OP is this in Chicago? We have some that look like this.

[–]Olgar[S] 11 points12 points ago

Yeah I think it's just a triangle shaped building. I don't know where it's from

[–]vedderish 8 points9 points ago

So you found an image of a building?

[–]Andrewm319Pill popper 10 points11 points ago

its x-posted from /r/mildyinteresting our OP isn't the real OP, not a repost, an x-post... that make sense?

[–]rumpltrumpl 4 points5 points ago

i think you meant r/mildlyinteresting

[–]Andrewm319Pill popper 0 points1 point ago

I so confused as to how that happened but yeah thats what I meant haha

[–]TheMcBrutal 8 points9 points ago

That is why it is an x-post.

[–]Olgar[S] 6 points7 points ago

Basically

[–]powerBtn 1 point2 points ago

Had to check history to make sure it wasn't mine

[–]ToxicSkeetSauce 1 point2 points ago

[–]kqr 5 points6 points ago

This AMA thing has spread too far. Now buildings do them too?

[–]Wisdom4Less 2 points3 points ago

This is Chicago in Streeterville.

[–]jasonmog -1 points0 points ago

Boston

[–]xrelaht 0 points1 point ago

There's one in NYC, too.

[–]RottingRyno 10 points11 points ago

Seems similar to the NBC Universal building

[–]noeljaboy 0 points1 point ago

nope.

[–]LaJollaJim 3 points4 points ago

The John Hancock building in Boston does the same thing:

[–]datums 3 points4 points ago

"Yeah, we told him he was getting a corner office."

[–]christianmm 2 points3 points ago

I have one of those buildings in downtown. It's always reminded me of a cake slice.

[–]white2lite 2 points3 points ago

Droid Razr headquarters

[–]derp_johnson 1 point2 points ago

Chi Town!

[–]gfish93Woah or whoa? 2 points3 points ago

I don't understand! Someone explain this to me please.

[–]shadowdsfire 1 point2 points ago

Triangle shaped.

[–]Walcot -1 points0 points ago

Wat...

[–]keenanpepper 1 point2 points ago

What happens is, you're very used to buildings having right angles and not acute angles. So, if you're looking at one side of a building and you ought to be able to see another side if it were a right angle, but you can't actually see it, your brain freaks out and thinks "that wall is missing! the building must be as thin as paper!" when really it's just like a 45 degree angle or something.

[–]Call_Me_Joris 0 points1 point ago

It's GTA San Andreas all over again.

[–]Throwawaycush 0 points1 point ago

I'm kinda astonished on how this came to progress from r/mildlyinteresting to r/woahdude...

[–]blastfemur 0 points1 point ago

Like Edward Steichen's famous photograph

[–]thefreqSpace is deep 0 points1 point ago

So, just from an angle? Not any specific one?

[–]gasholer 0 points1 point ago

is this in chicago?

[–]BiggieB36 0 points1 point ago

Well you see, you can do this with any building by hiding its other sides behind itself. The triangle shape obviously helps though.

[–]Apathetic_Superhero 0 points1 point ago

I don't know if this is the same building but there is one just like that in Singapore. Was really interesting to look at.

[–]ponyswag13 0 points1 point ago

How is this happening?

[–]I69_Marsupials 0 points1 point ago

Is that the DEVON building in OKC?

[–]LittleBlarg 0 points1 point ago

On a related note (architectural illusions) there's a highrise by the inner harbor in Baltimore that has all sorts of scaffolding on top that forms a pentagram when you look at it from a certain angle. The original drafter of plans for it was into the occult.

[–]sicilian504 0 points1 point ago

Its the new Apple iBuilding 5. Now 97% thinner and lighter.

[–]nickyjames 0 points1 point ago

This is the [FIXED] Version where someone made it look literally like a slab.

[–]jim888lu 0 points1 point ago

KPMG building in downtown LA is the same way. I work there, and the break rooms are called "The Point".

[–]joedude 0 points1 point ago

one time doing mushrooms i was coming down from my peak and we went downtown. Man skyscrapers are trippy.

[–]the_ingame_browser 0 points1 point ago

I think there's a building in san antonio that looks like that. you can see it when you take that little boat tour.

[–]ddrmaxgt37 0 points1 point ago

Same technique that makes macbook airs and ultrabooks seem really thin.

[–]blizzy461 0 points1 point ago

looks like one of the new World Trade Center buildings.

[–]natranrNeat! 0 points1 point ago

this reminds me of one of the buildings in Charlotte, NC.

[–]Calibansdaydream 0 points1 point ago

There's been a glitch in the matrix.

[–]obiwankimobi 0 points1 point ago

Is that in Downtown LA?

[–]aMassiveShit 1 point2 points ago

This is the craziest thing i have ever seen, and i saw my moms vagina once.

[–]atheistic-ace 0 points1 point ago

Was this taken in Singapore? I thought I saw this building there.

[–]Travis_T_OJustice 0 points1 point ago

The iphone 5 building - Longer and thinner than before

[–]ThatJuanMexican 0 points1 point ago

i think the matrix is glitching...

[–]Ridesabike 0 points1 point ago

What do you mean you found it? It's not like we lost it.

[–]metahipster1984 0 points1 point ago

So is this thinspo architecture porn?

[–]dgaf_about_usernames 0 points1 point ago

Mildly interesting anecdata: That's the American Medical Association building, at 515 N State Street in Chicago. It's the first city address I've ever known, and worked at as an envelope-stuffing-and-labeling adolescent. My parents worked together in that building for fifteen years or so, occasionally taking me there on a day off from school to do their busywork. ::shakes fist at parents:: Re: the shape - I've honestly never seen it from that perspective, flipping amazing photo! I did, however, always dream of piloting a helicopter through that little triangular wedge near the top. Unfortunately, the only fun I had there (between shifts of stuffing and labeling envelopes) was racing swivel chairs through the corridors and watching people fifteen floors below through the floor-to-ceiling plate glass windows.
