I don't know who did this particular tattoo, but artist Paul Booth was/is a master of tattooing Gigeresque artwork. Looks a lot like his stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Booth

Agreed. You can put me in the "finds this attractive" camp. Not everything is about what you find beautiful. It differs for everyone. Edit: Yes, I'm aware of the "eye of the beholder". I was leaning more toward the weird sense of annoyance people get when someone does something they personally find unattractive. You can poke those down votes in your eye.

Honestly, my back is really curved, I'm incredibly self-conscious about it, and I hate it. My tattoo is very different to this, and much smaller, but holy shit, it's beautiful. It makes me feel so much more confident.

I think it depends very much on the back, and on the tattoo.

Chances are it will look just as good. The misconceptions of how tattoos age are antiquated. With modern inks and modern methods tattoos stay sharper pretty much forever now. Hell, my tattoo right now is over 10 years old and looks like it did the day I go it.

Then again, it's also in how you take care of it and your skin.

Or I use this super top secret tattoo protection cream that is measure in SPF. The not-so super top secret stuff is known on the open market as "sun screen."

That and modern tattoo ink isn't as prone to UV fading as older inks. Plus this one is a grey-scale tattoo which is also less likely to fade over time. About the only thing that could "ruin" this tattoo in 30 years is if she gains a LOT of weight and gets back-boobs and love-handles that stretch everything out.

I'm often very critical of elderly people in nursing homes that have ruined their bodies with 30 year old tattoos...they're also never as interesting as the ones without.
