It is also called a sun kink, for example, if you take the spikes and anchors out of place and the rail is at a certain temperature, it can cause what you see in this picture, very very dangerous, can take limbs off if you're not careful. this very thing happened to me with the company I was working for a few years ago we were removing a switch.

It depends. This one did. I had turned around for a short moment and I heard a loud metal on metal banging. One of my co workers got his ankle caught in between them. He was hurt but not badly
