Its a mock of Salvador Dali's The Temptations of St. Anthony. Looks to me like its saying something about the American Economy/culture

[–]TwoYordlesOneCup 7 points8 points ago

It's not just about America. It's about all the countries of the world being bound by greed.

George Washington the symbol of freedom and America's independence is holding the scales of justice and is blindfolded, symbolizing the blind justice that we come to expect. Uncle Sam leads the chain gang with his register open and behind him comes China's piggy bank. Behind them is the camel with oil symbolizing the Middle East and behind that is Greece with their power plants.

All of these things symbolize power and wealth and countries are represented. Below these countries are little green dudes, for lack of a better term, who run around clutching at the air hoping to catch some of the falling coins. This could be interpreted as the poor being excluded from the wealth of their nations.

But fuck it man. It's art. You interpret what it means to you.

Dammit man. I was so excited to see what that link was about. And then you let me down. T____T.

Probably not China, seeing as it's an Indian elephant with a Hindu statue on top.

[–]TwoYordlesOneCup 0 points1 point ago

I was wondering about that as well, but it's China's flag. It might be a general statement about Asia in general as the camel isn't very specific either and the Greek statues could be interpreted as Europe.

[–]veidt_co -1 points0 points ago

I agree that it's probably "Asia". The statues I took as the people being trampled. They were statues of people running in fear which is reminiscent of the Gorgon Medusa.

We already thought about this way too much.

We must go deeper. But another day.

The pig with the chinese flag doesnt literally represent china (in my opinion), rather communism. Id say the dragon in the background is more of a direct symbol of china coming up on america's rear....

Looks kind of like a Salvador Dali painting... but your guess is as good as mine

[–]TaintSaint 0 points1 point ago

Agreed.

[–]paralacausa 2 points3 points ago

A work from well-known Brazilian illustrator Tiago Hoisel. A link to his blog (written in Portuguese) can be found here

A crappy Dali rip off.

[–]Quasifrodo 0 points1 point ago

It is a mock Dali painting.

[–]Nauky -1 points0 points ago

What is this? Well, my boy, this is what some people call a 'repost.'

[–]russaindog 2 points3 points ago

That, my friend, is dubstep.

Obama's view of the USA

Looks like a political acid trip

[–]NorthernGrim 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a Salvador Dali mock thing to me.

Makes sense in my opinion though.

Nothing to say WTF to.

Very mean and ugly anti-capitalist propaganda. All it needs extra is a hook-nosed Jew (oh wait, I think I see one). Speaking of which, also see caricatures of Jews which the Nazis distributed in the 1930s for more example of ugly populist propaganda of the same kind.
