Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

Is your post not showing up? Do not delete it. Wait 5 minutes to give AutoModerator a chance to look at it; it approves most submissions automatically. If it hasn't shown up after more than 5 minutes, simply message the moderators and ask us to let it through.

Cool. You know what'd be cooler? If it was part of the game you buy on day 1.

[–]Ejvind 5 points6 points ago

No, it wouldn't. It's an alternate mission. An alternate timeline. That's the WHOLE FUCKING point of DLC. You get the base game, with the base timeline, and the base missions, but if you want the extra, you pay. Sure, I'm all against DLC that takes front the main game, but from what we can see so far, this one doesn't.

[–]BarbarianKing 2 points3 points ago

It wouldn't be cool if the game came with this content already? Okay.

[–]Ejvind 0 points1 point ago

Yes it would, obviously. But you shouldn't expect it, as you obviously do.

[–]BarbarianKing 1 point2 points ago

I actually agree with you. I shouldn't expect it at this point.

[–]Reasonable_enough 1 point2 points ago

Because games never came with alternate missions before DLC?

[–]Ejvind 0 points1 point ago

Never said that. But you shouldn't expect them too.

[–]Reasonable_enough 0 points1 point ago

Most games cost the same regardless of the amount of content they put into them.

It's fine to expect more, games aren't cheap.

[–]Ejvind 0 points1 point ago

No it's not. You expect one, average length storyline. Expecting extra missions and alternate timelines seems assholish to me.

For a sequel? Sequels should be bigger and better.

I can see your point about being less creative with the Brotherhood and Revelations titles. It seemed they were more interested in milking the money cow on those titles. AC3, on the other hand, seems like a breathe of fresh air for the series, its NOT in Europe and there's new gameplay schematics. How can you not be excited for naval battles or fighting a fucking wolf in the woods!?

Looks like someone doesn't know how to reply to a comment.

[–]Morgatron570[S] 3 points4 points ago

Who might that be?

[–]war_story_guy 10 points11 points ago

Looks like someone doesn't know who that might be

Looks like someone learned how to reply to a comment.

you put

Who were you directing that to? It looks like you are talking to yourself.

Shut up dude.

[–]Custom88 0 points1 point ago

Whatever.

[–]Morgatron570[S] 1 point2 points ago

I'm still semi new to reddit, it was a rookie mistake. The person deleted their comment (guessing because of the downvotes). I replied using the alien blue app and I unknowingly posted my comment by itself and not as a reply.

[–]Custom88 1 point2 points ago

We are just busting your chops. Word.

It's chilling to see George this way.

[–]Thom0 0 points1 point ago

Why exactly? The guy was a wanker.

[–]PriestmanX 0 points1 point ago

Like...what would America be like if this had happened? If America had just become a Monarchy instead?

[–]Thom0 0 points1 point ago

If the game isn't out yet and the dlc has already been made then why dont they just include it with shipment instead of making us pay for it on launch day? I hate day 1 dlc's, I think its the most retarded thing that can be done when making a game, its just a money grab.

[–]WhornyNarwhal 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, what happened to reddit being outraged at day one dlc? I guess that was just for EA then.

[–]Blueychocobo 2 points3 points ago

There's a difference between having DLC that does not affect the main game at all and having DLC that should be part of the main game, but isn't because they locked it away for the sake of more money. This is kind of like RDR's Undead Nightmare. It's completely separate from the main game and takes place in an alternate time line. This is what DLC SHOULD be.

[–]Morgatron570[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm just excited that Ubisoft is taking a step towards hunting vampires with Abraham Lincoln.

[–]Real-Terminal 1 point2 points ago

They grew up, and realized that whining about it won't change the fact that they will buy it anyway.

[–]Boese 0 points1 point ago

Who ever said it was day one?

[–]aminorthreat 0 points1 point ago

Looks kind of similar to the picture of the Dark Prince from Prince of Persia sitting on the throne. Pic

A large group of the American population wanted him as their King. So large a part, in fact, that if he hadn't turned them down he would've been King. And the AC series are close-alternate reality, and this is a pretty darn good idea for a DLC in that era.

[–]MeGustaTortuga 2 points3 points ago

Well put

[–]DylanCN 3 points4 points ago

Now I'm against shitty DLC as much as the next lad, but I don't think it'd be fair to call this "less creative", it certainly is the most creative DLC in the AC franchise so far, I mean.. How much more creative do you get, than battling Rogue George Washington? I'm not necessarily a fan of Ubisoft (I dig their games, but they tend to fuck up), but they've recently gotten A TON of shit for being "Pro America" in Assassin's Creed. Now they plan to make a DLC (granted alternate universe, but still) where you, no joke, battle the fucking founder of America.

I think you're taking it way too seriously, this DLC looks more like a hilariously mad "what if" situation, sort of like the zombie apocalypse for Red Dead Redemption, and that turned out just swell.
