[–]Hero_of_Hyrule 74 points75 points ago

Huh, your you're right. Nice touch.

Edit: Goddammit I knew this day would come.

...And my Axe!

There, it's done.

[–]frich 4 points5 points ago

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE BAD PUNS‽

[–]drfunkenstien 9 points10 points ago

the car behind on of the fish has no driver

[–]RiskyChris 8 points9 points ago

That was Michael Douglas's boat.

[–]willhk3 10 points11 points ago

Ha, D-FENS.

[–]sargENT_shart 3 points4 points ago

How long did you stare at that gif? Damn!

[–]jerradlabrie 4 points5 points ago

haha too long. I literally zoned out staring at the gif making the same face as the fish for two minutes before I noticed it.

[–]kirk27 86 points87 points ago

Suicide in a nutshell

[–]slack90 48 points49 points ago

Yup, with this gif it seems life is just a prolonged form of suicide where the pain is dragged out on a longer time scale.

[–]TheGoomba 33 points34 points ago

Everyone dies. Some people choose when.

Edit: not advocating for it. If you need help go to r/SuicideWatch

[–]sonik13 9 points10 points ago

yo.

[–]TheGoomba 17 points18 points ago

Head to r/suicidewatch if you are one of those choosing when. I'm not advocating it. I was busy being pedantic.

Edit: downvotes for telling a guy to NOT kill himself. Now I've seen everything on Reddit.

[–]Cheap_Ass_Sunglasses 12 points13 points ago

Reminds me of the thread comparing Google and Bing.

While Bing's first result was "Methods of easy suicide"; Google recommended calling the suicide hotline in big letters before any results.

And then the first few comments actually defended suicide.

Man, Reddit sometimes...

[–]Hingleton 8 points9 points ago

They're are some definite legitimate cases for suicide. Here in Washington we voted for death with dignity laws a couple years back and most people don't have any moral qualms with it.

[–]ElBobo 9 points10 points ago

Nope, apathy. If it was suicide the gif would stop.

[–]A_Cylon_Raider 319 points320 points ago

[–]Mega_Man_Swagga 159 points160 points ago

Good god that's depressing.

[–]MrKrowe 31 points32 points ago

It got worse when I realized the music was in time with the shifts.

Edit: whoops

[–]aadamstewartt 7 points8 points ago

Just sat and watched/listened to the whole 3 minutes while staring into Squidwards lonely eyes. Damn that's depressing.

[–]koy5 2 points3 points ago

This type of thing makes me feel like I should never give up on "hopeless" causes. The minute you give up trying to change the world and make it better you get stuck in that rut. I will live my life trying to as much good as I can before I die, fuck what society thinks and all that fucking red tape.

[–]Hobbes4247791 9 points10 points ago

I actually can't help but bust out laughing every time I see it. It's just too perfect and ridiculous.

[–]Mega_Man_Swagga 14 points15 points ago

You must be young, get off my lawn!

[–]Hobbes4247791 5 points6 points ago

I love it when the comments already have what you were looking for. Though this new one doesn't match up quite as well.

[–]Birdslapper 43 points44 points ago

Fucking love that subreddit, I wish it would get more traffic

edit: the bacon one is my favorite lol

[–]A_Cylon_Raider 54 points55 points ago

[–]ApologiesForThisPost 25 points26 points ago

Personally I like this one, if only because it matches up surprisingly well. Although this one is funnier.

[–]ATownStomp 4 points5 points ago

That fat kid is so epic right now.

[–]Birdslapper 12 points13 points ago

never has a slinky had so much class

[–]CDClock 4 points5 points ago

is it just me or is gifsound just a shitty version of ytmnd?

[–]Rubrum_ 4 points5 points ago

I love imagining Stephen Hawking rolling down the street to this song. Swag.

You gotta be kidding me?!

I was about to leave for work, but I think now I'll kill myself instead.

[–]robo23 4 points5 points ago

You just reminded me that I need to have my annual October Donnie Darko viewing soon. And it is election year this year!

[–]outbound 2 points3 points ago

Great, now I have to watch Donnie Darko tonight :/

[–]Directors_Cut 26 points27 points ago

You forgot the part where he goes on Reddit every night to pretend his opinions matter...

No, it's a building, you can even drive past it.

[–]Chazzey_dude 3 points4 points ago

But can you open its doors?

Huh, I guess you can.

[–]SUMMURNUR 4 points5 points ago

What the fuck is up with the Joyreactor tag in the bottom? This is a Wulff & Morgenthaler strip.

[–]jaycrew 23 points24 points ago

[–]go_ahead_downvote_me 57 points58 points ago

well this is just depressing, not funny

[–]wanderer11 23 points24 points ago

It's depressing because it's my life.

[–]Phatrix 9 points10 points ago

mine too bro

[–]Mr_Unagi 4 points5 points ago

Well I don't know. You could do something about it I guess if you wanted to.

[–]wanderer11 8 points9 points ago

It was hard enough to find this job. I really couldn't imagine what it would take to find one I actually enjoy.

[–]RichDelivers 2 points3 points ago

exactly this, think I've got a few months left at best before I hit a train.

[–]pogonophobia 16 points17 points ago

but, how does he get into his cubicle?

[–]hollachris 42 points43 points ago

swim?

[–]pogonophobia 11 points12 points ago

TOUCHÉ.

[–]Auzie 3 points4 points ago

Lol then why does he drive?

[–]RedAero 24 points25 points ago

The same reason you do. It's more convenient.

[–]IAmManMan 12 points13 points ago

This is reasonably artistic for Spongebob Squarepants. The fact that his face is always in the same place in the same expression, along with the two background fish following him between shots adds to the feeling of monotony and the vertical bars on his window/windshield/as the pillars in his work give it an air of a prison/cage.

[–]avert_your_maize 7 points8 points ago

The older people get, the more relevant Spongebob Squarepants becomes.

[–]seanadb 71 points72 points ago

Life is what you make it. There is lots to do when you're not working.

[–]ElBobo 45 points46 points ago

I see you got that same fortune cookie also, what a small world.

[–]Xilor 15 points16 points ago

Like what? I'm not working and I'm going through the same things every day: waking up, sitting on my ass, eating, more sitting, hoping for something to happen to take me out of my misery, falling asleep.

[–]HitchKing 28 points29 points ago

Dude, join a running club or a pub trivia league or an online dating website or volunteer at a food bank or play chess with old men at the park or at least find a therapist.

Hoping ain't gonna do it.

[–]Xilor 3 points4 points ago

Well, I've undertaken several searches for clubs, volunteer positions, groups, sports, activities and organizations. But there is not a single one within doable distance that interests me. Partially due to the fact that there is almost nothing here because I live in a small village, but I suppose also partially because I generally don't enjoy things.

I've also searched through every dating site under the sun and did not find a single girl that seemed interesting. Besides that, in my current depression I should not be trying to start relationships. That can only go wrong.

And I have very little hope a therapist could change either of those.

[–]djk21108 8 points9 points ago

It might be prudent to seek therapy. It's not the voodoo that some people think it is. Therapy is just a nice open place where you can talk out the things that you only ever get to hear inside your head.

If you're miserable, I don't see why you wouldn't consider it. A lot of health insurance plans through employers allow for free counseling!

[–]Xilor 0 points1 point ago

Well, I don't have an employer, so that's one thing. Secondly I'm not interested in it exactly because it isn't voodoo magic, if there was some magic involved I'd jump on that right away. But sadly, it's just going to be me struggling to say anything at all to some stranger. I will probably lie to that stranger anyway, tell him things he wants to hear or things which I want him to think about me.

[–]djk21108 6 points7 points ago

Don't worry man, they've had that happen to them before and they're prepared for you. They can see through the lies, for the most part.

I highly recommend you find some outlet. You sound like someone who could very much benefit from having someone to talk to. PM me if you wanna get the ball rolling, even. I mean it.

[–]tyme 2 points3 points ago

I felt the same way as you, friend.

I was depressed and didn't think therapy would do me any good. And, at first, it didn't. I saw my therapist as some stranger that didn't know anything about me -- why would I take his advice or even open myself up to him?

It wasn't easy. I spent many sessions avoiding the issues I was dealing with; saying things I thought he wanted to hear, not being honest with him (or even myself).

It took time. Probably a year, at least, before I felt comfortable. But eventually he wasn't a stranger. And eventually I opened up. And, eventually, it started making a difference in my day to day life.

I'm not "cured" by any stretch of the imagination but I've made progress. I honestly believe I'm better off now than I was when I started going.

I guess my point is, at least give it a try. And give it time. Seeing a psychologist/counselor isn't a quick fix, it takes energy, but the reward is worth it. Don't let your fear of opening up to someone keep you down.

[–]ApologiesForThisPost 2 points3 points ago

for a second I thought you said "more shitting".

[–]Caveman788 5 points6 points ago

I agree. If you want something, you go get it. Period.

[–]Anindoorcat 3 points4 points ago

"you like to see homos naked? thats cool man..don't help me out none."

[–]dimarc217 17 points18 points ago

As I grow older this gif gets reposted more and more often.

[–]ElBobo 10 points11 points ago

Thanks medical science, helping us outlive happiness!

[–]outbound 5 points6 points ago

As I get older, I'm less and less like Bart and more and more like Homer. I'm hoping that Abe never enters the picture, but that fear is somewhere deep inside me.

*checks belt*. no onion. whew!

[–]druking1 3 points4 points ago

"Coming to bed, Honey?" "Yes, Dear."

[–]kinggeorgethecat 4 points5 points ago

It doesn't matter how many times I see this GIF, I always upvote. I am this fish.

[–]Leadpipe 27 points28 points ago

ITT: College students with no understanding of depression advise to bootstrap and carpe diem.

[–]Al-Dunya 7 points8 points ago

I've been depressed for a loooong time. I find it really helped to join some clubs and pick out some new hobbies. I won't always make it to all the meetings or events, sometimes I just cant, but atleast I'm getting out half the time and meeting new people and practicing my photography and art and soon I plan on building a dope ass kite.

[–]danrennt98 14 points15 points ago

[–]ApologiesForThisPost 27 points28 points ago

I couldn't find a single timepiece in that subreddit.

[–]Paradoxide 3 points4 points ago

I've seen this gif many times but I've only just realized that his cubicle has no corridors. There is literally not way out other that marching through other people's cubicles.

[–]Mickeyisevil 3 points4 points ago

Yay, this is one those threads where all the teenagers post about how they're never gonna let life become what thus gif represents.

Truth is, kids, life is a lot if wash-rinse-repeat. There are a lot of things that we've got to do to pull our weight that are entirely lacking romance and excitement. But, if you don't let it get you down, and you realize that it's part of the game we all play, it can be fun at times, and worth the crap.

Life isn't all fun and adventure all the timee, but that doesn't mean it's a 24/7 crapshow either.

[–]jamesincollege 5 points6 points ago

Damn, I hope my life never turns into this...

[–]ElBobo 25 points26 points ago

Then stay in college, James, for as long as you can.

[–]jamesincollege 6 points7 points ago

I just realized in about a year and a half I'm going to have to change my name to Jamesoutofcollege :(

[–]BlackestNight21 9 points10 points ago

Graduate school, doctoral work. Professor! You don't have to leave, you don't ever have to leave. You can stay for ever and ever.

[–]BetweenJobs 5 points6 points ago

And yet, this cycle is paradise when compared to how 99.9% of humans lived.

[–]Palmpay 14 points15 points ago

My contentment is not relative. It is absolute.

[–]Thinks_Reddit_Is_RPG 2 points3 points ago

This thought is a large part of what keeps me grounded. My empathy for others who have had much worse opportunities and lived such difficult lives relative to mine make me feel petty for even thinking my life is anything but enchanted. None of my problems or worries are significant in comparison and most of them are created or perpetuated by myself, unlike so many in need whose problems they were most likely born into with no escape available. I think I owe it to those people to find as much happiness as possible or else I insult them by squandering the opportunities given to me by some stroke of completely undeserved good fortune.

[–]darkcustom 2 points3 points ago

I used to love watching Office Space. Then I entered Office Space. I no longer love watching Office Space.

Go do Exciting things! "Adventure is out there!"

[–]inoffensive1 49 points50 points ago

My student loans would love that.

[–]ramo805 3 points4 points ago

it cost money to go hike? or go read a book at the beach? or hang out with friends? I don't mean to be a dick I just mean that you could do stuff that doesnt involve money.

[–]inoffensive1 6 points7 points ago

It absolutely costs money to read a book at the beach when you're a hundred miles from the nearest beach. Hanging out with friends is far from an 'Adventure'.

I do like going on hikes, though. Not really much of an adventure, but refreshing and relaxing.

My point, also not to be a dick, is that anything exciting really does cost money, and the only people who don't realize that are either boring or rich enough to not count the miles they can get per dollar.

[–]PrometheusGodDude 11 points12 points ago

Yup. Debt is slavery. Student loans are modern debt. We have to work towards our freedom.

[–]AHCretin 22 points23 points ago

Exciting things cost money.

[–]Deagle_Shitter 6 points7 points ago

And time

[–]grossitsrachel 0 points1 point ago

They don't have to. I don't spend tons of money and I still go out and do things - you only get this kind of life if you're resigned that life is gonna suck and always be that way.

[–]AHCretin 4 points5 points ago

You don't spend tons of money, but you do spend money. Any money at all is more money than I have to waste.

[–]downvoter_of_puns 3 points4 points ago

eat

things

[–]ontheturnpike 2 points3 points ago

i tried that today; i totally regret it

[–]ElBobo 7 points8 points ago

Without knowing me personally, tell me what would excite me, then tell me I'm a horrible person because our lists aren't the same.

[–]telfman123 0 points1 point ago

He never mentioned any of the activities that would exite you, or say they are the same as his...

[–]ElBobo 2 points3 points ago

Right but he did assume that everyone has the same ability to just go find exciting things because he has been able to. The same old humble logical fallacy of "If I can do it, so can you!". The "then tell me I'm a horrible person because our lists aren't the same" I will admit is an assumption based on how his comment reflects personalities I have met in life that would say this type of thing. Thank you for pointing out my own logical fallacy of ancedotal evidence.

[–]MrFatCactus 2 points3 points ago

Coming to bed, dear?

[–]8opus 2 points3 points ago

Well, it's the same for me, I'm in high school

[–]wookiesandwich 0 points1 point ago

and as I grow older it gets reposted more and more often

[–]humdawg 2 points3 points ago

Not for me! I'm an EMT in one of the state's most busiest emergency departments and absolutely love my job, I'm also in school to get my RN BSN degree so I can advance my career even further. I work with some of the most amazing and fascinating people, and I have the time and money to pursue what makes me happy when I'm not in work or school.

I am happy knowing that I'm not wasting away, stuck doing something I hate with no hope of escaping, I know that I'm making a difference in peoples lives.

The worst part is when you are 45 and you've been doing that for more than 20 years already and you know you have at least 20 more years of it, and that's only if your retirement account miraculously increases by an order of magnitude in the next 20 years.
