There was probably someone who was supposed to be running a route behind him to receive that catch. He could have caught it, but might have had a different assignment on that particular play.

I have to defend him. It was a miscommunication on a timing play, had he not ducked or tried to catch it he most likely would have just popped the ball into the air. That said.....lol
