Here's why everything she says is BS:

First of all, I have to say that it's always great to see my content on reddit in any form, as I would like to be a full time web comic artist one day so all exposure is good.

So all exposure is good. Without this Imgur link I would have never heard of this webcomic. What are we complaining about again?

Oh yeah...I'd also like to be a full time web comic artist. Who wouldn't?

then the very least that they could do would be to link directly to my site and it's so easy to do when my site is on the footer of all my comics.

OK so the top comment has the link, and the comic has the link. I got it. If I really like this enough I'll check out the site, regardless of which image host is used.

I've read a few arguments on reddit as to why it's better to link to imgur, but I haven't found any of them very convincing.

Actually, many of them are quite convincing:

• Posts on reddit using imgur are way more likely to get visited and upvoted on than ones hosted on other sites. Fast Reddit browsers who go through link after link are going to be way more likely to understand immediately that an imgur link its worth clicking on as it will load quickly nearly all the time. If you want exposure, you want more people seeing your webcomic, regardless of who the image host is.

• This is the Internet, and it's not up to you. Sorry. That's a better reason than any. People want to use imgur, and that's that. If you want to send takedown requests to every image hosting site that has your webcomics, that's fine, and they'll take them down for you, but you'll lose that exposure. You can't have it both ways.

People don't click on non imgur links - that is frankly lazy and stupid and is a ridiculous reason not to give credit.

1. Is she trying to oppose human nature or something? Of course it's lazy and stupid but it's true.
2. Credit was given. It's printed right there on the comic. Haven't you ever noticed how print comics have the artist's signature and copyright info in difficult to remove places, like right in or in-between the frames? It's because your mom/dad photocopied them and hung them up in their cubes and shared them with friends. Same thing, only Internet now, and I might suggest she put her copyright/site information in less easily cropped locations if she's really that concerned about it.

I've thought about making a self post in /r/comics.....it will probably just get downvoted into oblivion and I don't think it will change the behavior of those who repeatedly use Imgur anyway.

Then why is she even writing out this email?

tl;dr You can't want exposure and then police the way you gain exposure. For some reason this got me angry enough to waste a bunch of time on this comment, sorry poptart2nd.
