I miss that guy, I miss that whole damn show. Fuck, I'm sad now.

[–]reszholve 14 points15 points ago

YOU ARE FIRED!

[–]anilm2 10 points11 points ago

Hello security. Everyone on floor four is fired.

Escort them from the premises and do it as a team.

[–]airmasszero 11 points12 points ago

Team. Team, team, team, team, team. I even love saying the word 'team'. You probably think that's a picture of my family. Uh ah. It's the A-Team!

[–]anemptygun 2 points3 points ago

The jewelry man.

[–]airmasszero 0 points1 point ago

Haha yea that is the next line I love about that scene. Cracks me up every fucking time.

[–]billyjenkins 1 point2 points ago

My girlfriend got a framed picture of the A-Team for a gift. It sits proudly in our living room for all to see. I love The IT Crowd.

[–]airmasszero 0 points1 point ago

Aw that's cool. Yea, I wish there were more seasons. I like more than the American stuff going on right now.

[–]Eric_Forman 7 points8 points ago

[–]KingofStench 2 points3 points ago

You there, computer man, fix my pants.

[–]matts41 7 points8 points ago

I much preferred his replacement. But I still miss the show. :(

[–]cloudedice 4 points5 points ago

His son?

Happy Cake Day!

[–]Del_Castigator -5 points-4 points ago

I hated his son.

[–]jumbohiggins 2 points3 points ago

As you know I killed myself by jumping out of a window.

[–]rimo 1 point2 points ago

Then again, you must admit it was pretty much the best way ever to write someone out of a show. Totally worth it.

[–]WasherDryerCombo 0 points1 point ago

"WE ARE BURYING A GREAT MAN TODAY!"

"...did someone else die?"

[–]Skuggsja 12 points13 points ago

I recently married so cheaply the law must'a thought the whole thing was a scam to get my wife a visa.

Here's the trick: Don't crush your fiancées dreams of becoming a princess for a night by saying "this is too expensive/too much hassle/etc". Instead, build up a new dream of the intimate, rustic, charming wedding. You know, the kind where everyone participates instead of waiting on paid staff. The cosy little locale instead of the large, dreary one. The homecooked meal.

Or you could do what my parents did - elope to a foreign country and marry in secrecy. Pretty romantic, wontcha say?

[–]cheerioz 9 points10 points ago

elope to a foreign country and marry in secrecy. Pretty romantic, wontcha say?

Well...yes actually.

[–]Grizzant 7 points8 points ago

I was lucky. My wife was practical. Her parents said here is what we will spend on the wedding. Anything else we will give you. We got married for 65 dollars at the courthouse and put a downpayment on a condo.

[–]Skuggsja 1 point2 points ago

Genius!

[–]nanoz122 23 points24 points ago

Best advice I can give: use Pinterest to learn what she is doing. How do you do that? Look at what she pins. If her future wedding involves a certain place, never bring it up. On the reverse, see other things she pinned and then you never have to guess what to buy her for a gift.

[–]whatwouldscoobydo 48 points49 points ago

Or just...talk to her about it? Some girls just like thinking about weddings or babies in general- not necessarily your weddings or babies. It's fun to plan- it's a good time waster- so she might just be doing it for fun.

Also, communication is like...healthy.

[–]Obvious_Troll_Accoun 11 points12 points ago

You must be new here?

[–]whatwouldscoobydo 6 points7 points ago

Redditor for two years, check it.

I just like having more than one time waster at work. I'm also engaged and happy. I'm also a female and know how (some) females work. A girl liking something on a site for fun instead of for serious is just another thing to consider before jumping to conclusions. I was once told "assumption is the mother of all fuck ups." That is all.

[–]YawnSpawner 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure that talking with a person about what to get them as a gift defeats the point. His point about checking their pinterest for gift ideas is brilliant.

[–]whatwouldscoobydo 1 point2 points ago

Look at what she pins. If her future wedding involves a certain place, never bring it up.

The poster said to look at pinterest and not bring up certain things, for fear of discussing it- that's more what I was addressing.

On the reverse, see other things she pinned and then you never have to guess what to buy her for a gift.

Yes, his point about looking at it for gift ideas is indeed brilliant. Haha.

*clarity.

[–]Pollo_Bueno 0 points1 point ago

seriously the one redeeming factor of Pintrest

[–]nanoz122 2 points3 points ago

It can be fun(if you're a girl). But since the majority of the users are female, it makes all the content female oriented. So it isn't that fun for guys.

[–]jevmorgan 32 points33 points ago

My fiancee used Pinterest a lot in planning the look of our wedding. I can't really understand why you would feel this way, unless you didn't love your girlfriend or you're really young.

In other words, I'm REALLY excited about getting married to my lady. I love the idea of spending the rest of my life with her!

[–]puempy 19 points20 points ago

or he's worried about having to waste a lot of money on a party and not the part afterwards

[–]jevmorgan 6 points7 points ago

Oh Jesus, yes. The money we're spending for our wedding...Let's just say you could buy a new car for that amount. Holy crap, so much money.

[–]MidasMulligan 4 points5 points ago

But you're having the wedding for your families/friends, not you. No one particularly loves going to weddings besides the bride and groom, so trying to make it fun for everyone is a good goal when planning, and usually involves a good sum of money. My fiancée is balls deep in Pinterest wedding planning too, and I want to make it enjoyable for everyone going, so finding a great venue and food and decor is an expensive priority, but arguably a pretty damn important one.

[–]jevmorgan 1 point2 points ago

While this is mostly true, I have to disagree that we're having the wedding for family and friends. We're having it for my lady, mostly. She wants to have a wedding. Personally, I couldn't care less if we just went to the justice of the peace and did it like that, but I want her to be happy. She's a graphic designer, so there's a lot that she's excited about with designing this wedding.

All that being said, I do want it to be enjoyable for everyone involved/invited. That's a lot of the motivation, but it all stems from my fiancee wanting to have a nice wedding.

[–]MilesColtrane 3 points4 points ago

yeah I think it's pretty ridiculous how so many women want to spend all kinds of money. As you said, you could buy a new car for that. That's just insane.

I'm so lucky and happy to be married to a down-to-earth chick who wanted a simple wedding and was practical enough to know we could use the money afterward.

[–]jevmorgan 3 points4 points ago

The thing is, we can afford the amount she's budgeted. We both just recently got good jobs that pay well. We've been saving for quite some time, and we've got the whole thing budgeted with lots of wiggle room.

[–]MilesColtrane 0 points1 point ago

that's fantastic, then. if you have the money, mine as well spend it. i personally think it's still impractical, but everyone has a different situation. wish you guys the best

[–]jevmorgan 1 point2 points ago

I think it's impractical, too. But that's not what weddings (or marriages) are about, really.

[–]MidasMulligan 0 points1 point ago

Well that's absolutely a good reason to have a nice one, we both want a nice one as well but are possibly over-focused on all the family coming in from out of town. Also, mine's a graphic designer too, I hope we're marrying the same gal.

[–]guywhoishere 1 point2 points ago

Dude, most new cars are cheaper than most weddings.

I actually was hanging out recently with a guy who is in the process of getting a divorce. His wedding, less than 2 years ago, cost his father in law $400k!

[–]jevmorgan 0 points1 point ago

Holy crap, that's a LOT of money for one day. Mine's like $20K. And I thought that was a lot.

And that poor father-in-law (literally, now). Pretty sure this is how both he and the husband feel.

[–]whatwouldscoobydo 3 points4 points ago

Well pinterest is all about the do-it-yourself and cheap-weddings. I'm using it for ideas for my wedding now, and it's nice. Helps you get a sense of what you want while also allowing you to waste more time at work.

[–]mongoose_plus 1 point2 points ago

I think they must be young/have never talked about marriage. Its unnerving for one person in the relationship to be really ready for a marriage, and the other to not.

[–]matts41 -2 points-1 points ago

Nice try spokesman for women.

[–]jevmorgan 2 points3 points ago

Shouldn't everyone be a spokesperson for women? They're pretty rad.

[–]jangai 0 points1 point ago

...because plenty of people don't want to ever get married, regardless of how they feel about their significant other? It's not for everyone, mate.

[–]jevmorgan 2 points3 points ago

Guess so. I just don't get it, though.

[–]BobKelsoMD -2 points-1 points ago

So... you think that everyone marries the first "girlfriend" they have?

[–]jevmorgan 1 point2 points ago

or you're really young.

Nope.

And I understand that people get freaked out about marriage, but if you're at the age where she's thinking about it, maybe it's not so crazy to be thinking about it yourself? Personally, I look at dating as an extended interview for a wife. But that's just me, I guess.

[–]BobKelsoMD -1 points0 points ago

Lol. You strike me as someone with very little dating experience outside of the woman you married.

[–]jevmorgan 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, I don't have a ton of experience with women. I've dated probably 5 or 6 girls, about half of them were "serious" relationships.

I realize that not everyone has the same ideas about dating that I do, but I don't really like messing around without some intent toward something greater than just dating. It's a waste of emotions, time, and money.

[–]Balmsee 1 point2 points ago

I know that feel, bro.

[–]Mildcorma 1 point2 points ago

Mine to mate!

Shits got to stop, our budget is £12k and it's already out the window :S

[–]airmasszero 5 points6 points ago

You know what that means

[–]so_carelessly_here 18 points19 points ago

ANAL!

[–]airmasszero 1 point2 points ago

Haha I guess that works, too

[–]so_carelessly_here 1 point2 points ago

You bet it does ;)

was the wink too much?

[–]airmasszero 1 point2 points ago

;) = you've experienced the glory hole

[–]so_carelessly_here 0 points1 point ago

A lady never kisses and tells, dude.

But, hey, whatever floats your boat.

[–]silentnoise 8 points9 points ago

Oh no! Now you'll have to spend the rest of your life with someone you love! Tragic!

/r/foreveralone

[–]redditswithscissors 7 points8 points ago

You mean the Pinterest part?

[–]NIQ702 3 points4 points ago

What's wrong with Pinterest?

[–]redditswithscissors 5 points6 points ago

I don't think anything's wrong with it. I just think that most of it is the "wedding planning" part. At least it is with most people I know who use it.

[–]Allycia 3 points4 points ago

There are categories for EVERYTHING. Recipes, crafts, cars, photos, quotes, decor, weddings, fashion, DIY, holidays, I could go on and on! While there is wedding planning, its not a website dedicated solely to that. (Though there's a pin that links to a website that is like pinterest but solely for weddings..haha)

[–]kkatelynn 0 points1 point ago

if you were to look at the everything page, wedding stuff is probably one of the top 3 pinned categories. There's a popular page that I don't look at but would guess that its even more frequently pinned.

[–]NIQ702 1 point2 points ago

I can see how it'd be useful for wedding planning but there's quite a bit more to Pinterest then just that.

[–]a_monkey8 4 points5 points ago

Your sense of humour. It gave me a sad :(

[–]NIQ702 0 points1 point ago

Wut?

[–]matts41 -1 points0 points ago

I'm not a fan because you're encouraged to steal other people's content and pass it off as your own.

[–]HelloPepperKitty 4 points5 points ago

How exactly? You pin something interesting, someone else finds it interesting, they click on the image and go back to the original source.

[–]LtCthulhu 0 points1 point ago

I find the UI to be a bit bulky but besides that I don't mind it.

[–]laurensvo 3 points4 points ago

I've been "planning" ( read: fantasizing about) my wedding since before I had a boyfriend. It's fun. It's not about tying you down. I can't explain it well because in my experience, men don't do as much fantasizing about the future as women do. All I can say is that it has less to do with your relationship than it does liking pretty things and wanting to have them.

[–]hykl 3 points4 points ago

Yeah. I second this. I'm the cheapest person in the world when I think of an actual wedding I would have. But fake planning a luxurious dress and cake is fun.

It's like when I would make flying llamas for my Lego house. I knew I couldn't have them on real life, bit they were fun to dream about!

[–]LaughterAndChaos -1 points0 points ago

guys DO fantasize about the future alot and in detail, but not just about one single day though. guys also fantasize about getting the dream girl, not a dream wedding. there hasn't been any difference between any wedding i've ever been to. in a church, wearing tux and white dress, people watch the ceremony, then there's a reception. if women spend so much time on something so clearly important to them, why is every wedding the same? do women rarely have any creativity and/or imagination?

[–]laurensvo 0 points1 point ago

I wasn't trying to imply anything bad about men. I apologize if it came off that way. Also, fantasy and finances don't always mix. See the comment below mine for more detail.

[–]LaughterAndChaos -1 points0 points ago

i didn't think you were saying anything bad about men. i'm not sure you understood what I was implying. how can women fantasize about something so much, and have the same general wedding as someone else? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills...

[–]laurensvo 0 points1 point ago

General weddings are cost-effective weddings.

[–]Zechnophobe 1 point2 points ago

Your boyfriend has probably been fantasizing about certain sex acts, also just for the fun of it. In both cases, sharing that fantasy can make it seem like a request, or even an ultimatem.

I'm not saying it is proper for this to occur, or even logical, but do realize that's the sort of emotion that tends to go into it.

[–]Allycia 1 point2 points ago

I have a wedding board because almost everything on pinterest is like "WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT" shit. I have the wedding board so I don't forget those things, and have a link to a blog or store where I can get those things. Even if they never get married, it is still fun and exciting for girls to think about!

I have done tons of things in the apartment and told my boyfriend about tons of things that I found on pinterest. There's ways to raise kids to not be spoiled brats, how to fix cars, funny pictures/quotes, home decor ideas, so many things that guys just don't know about because they think pinterest is girls shit only. Silly men!

[–]omnilynx 3 points4 points ago

So she just discovered Pinterest.

[–]Crook3d 3 points4 points ago

There's a section of Pinterest for things that are not related to weddings? I thought the whole thing was for wedding dresses and cakes and the like.

[–]userusernamename 1 point2 points ago

It's a bulletin board. It's for whatever you find interesting and want to pin to your bulletin board. Lots of people who use it find wedding dresses and cakes interesting and so that is what they pin.

[–]Crook3d 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, I was just being silly. I am the only dude I know who uses it, my female friends use it for mostly wedding dresses and flowers and fancy looking food.

[–]rabaltera 0 points1 point ago

Yup. So did mine not 3 days ago.

It was nice knowing you

[–]xXEpicBeardManXx 1 point2 points ago

What's a pinterest, Walter?

[–]varmint_poontang 0 points1 point ago

Shut the fuck up Donny!

[–]flatcurve 0 points1 point ago

The wedding rarely turns into the stuff they clip out of magazines. My wife had her mind set on this one dress she saw, but when she was out shopping she found something she liked better. Same story for the flowers, the location, everything...

[–]SwordfishII 1 point2 points ago

Hell yes IT Crowd.

[–]bhahne -1 points0 points ago

Mine did too

[–]sean3313 1 point2 points ago

what show is this from?

[–]cheers-to-the-night 1 point2 points ago

I have friends that are already married who are planning their dream weddings on Pinterest. It's just a thing that some chicks do, I wouldn't be too concerned about it yo.

[–]NewToLT -1 points0 points ago

Time to take the plunge.

[–]vonshavingcream 0 points1 point ago

second favorite scene from that show... my first is when the son come bursting into the Church and yells "FATHA"

[–]Reshkah 1 point2 points ago

I can never get over how fucking perfectly he jumps out the window like some quirky kid jumping into a pool doing the "pencil dive".

[–]PleaseDontStalkMe 0 points1 point ago

Boo hoo, you have a woman who loves and wants to marry you.

[–]Gondile 0 points1 point ago

No, it's bad because now her expectations for the wedding are high now.

[–]theHorrible1 1 point2 points ago

Chris Morris is a boss!

[–]mfter -1 points0 points ago

Get busy marrying or get busy being single.

[–]tarellel -1 points0 points ago

I'm in the same boat... And now her expectations are or so high and my wallet is looking very empty for the next few years to come.

[–]amolad -1 points0 points ago

You'll be lucky if you get out of it that easily.

[–]wolf3 -1 points0 points ago

I am in the library and came across this. I instantly started cracking up. I love pinterest. Best thing i've seen today.

[–]Snickersaw943 0 points1 point ago

I love that show!!!!!!

[–]Thaelina 0 points1 point ago

Now I also know about it, you did it to my poor boyfriend as well!

[–]biskitsandgravy -1 points0 points ago

upvote for referencing the IT crowd, but if she isn't your fiancee RUN!

[–]limeyjaxx 0 points1 point ago

I have memorised entire section of this show, and can tell episode titles from hearing one line out of the entire episode.

[–]Dsmash7 0 points1 point ago

I love that show!!! So much!!

[–]mookaberry 0 points1 point ago

I'M WATCHING THIS EPISODE RIGHT NOW

[–]dumpstergirl 2 points3 points ago

I don't understand the big deal with planning a wedding. And planning a wedding with a boyfriend and not a fiance is just.. sorta... creepy.

I think it's much more appealing to hear "hey honey, let's save the $20000, elope, and use to as a down payment on a house, a set of new gaming rigs, and a vacation!" Compared to "sure, let's blow $20000 on a giant stressful event, one fucking party, and a dress you can never wear again!"

[–]vlake428 4 points5 points ago

Weddings don't have to be expensive, hence why people use DIY ideas from reddit, pinterest and other sites. A wedding can be as intimate and stress free as you make it.

[–]Allycia 3 points4 points ago

It's not creepy, it's not even really based on the boyfriend. I think I'll marry my boyfriend, but even if I don't, pinterest is filled to the brim with things I never would have thought of! It's good to keep record of those things and have them one day, or share them with people who are getting married. It's nothing to freak anybody out with (Unless you're actually being a creep!)

I guess.. it's what makes the couple happy. (Everyone knows if she's happy, he's happy!) hahaha

[–]helin0x 1 point2 points ago

Upvote for Chris Morris gif :D

[–]IAMAThom -1 points0 points ago

I just came here to upvote The IT Crowd

[–]BigRiggz 0 points1 point ago

When my fiancé found the wedding part of Pinterest, we had been dating for 4 months. Recently I had to tell her not to Pinterest while I was around, because there was no interaction with her when she was doing it! I said stop it or I'm having my groomsmen and 20 strippers at my bachelors party... She stopped right away.

[–]Pank 2 points3 points ago

"and I only had 18 strippers at the party"

[–]DanaCarvey 1 point2 points ago

Don't let her find the baking section, all you'll eat is burnt, fucked up cupcakes

[–]cleric04 -1 points0 points ago

Gotta block it at the router bro.

[–]airmasszero -2 points-1 points ago

Haha awesome idea

[–]isabella-pussolini -5 points-4 points ago

Run. Run very far away.

[–]Miss_TexAss -1 points0 points ago

I have fb friends that link their pinterest account to their fb. At least 5 have pinboards titled "my future wedding." Only one of these girls is actually in a relationship.

[–]escapist11 -1 points0 points ago

So...any single attractive guys in here looking for a reasonably attractive single girl who despises Pinterest and will never use it...holla at me!

[–]Obvious_Troll_Accoun 0 points1 point ago

[–]escapist11 1 point2 points ago

Thank you Obvious_Troll!

[–]Obvious_Troll_Accoun 1 point2 points ago

I prefer relevant chapelle to xkcd.

[–]Strid 0 points1 point ago

Holla! My freezer is filled with bacon.

[–]escapist11 0 points1 point ago

Aww snap. Wassup

[–]ignatiousjack -4 points-3 points ago

Im so so sorry.

[–]derpymuff5 -4 points-3 points ago

I'm sorry fir your lose.

[–]ZeroGSpaceCow -3 points-2 points ago

That's basically ALL of pinterest.

[–]themadfool -3 points-2 points ago

you got a legitimate and literal "lol" out of me. well played
