Since you asked. It breeds chasers by allowing them to fetishize trans women simply because they have mismatched genitalia. Many people are not aware of trans people, so often time "tranny" porn is the only thing they associate with them.

Since this association is made, people think it's okay to use the words "tranny" and "shemale" because those are the names used in porn.

Now allow me to tighten my tinfoil hat a little more and make the assertion that people tend to dehumanize trans people partly because they are seen as an object or entertainment in the porn industry, and thus are not real people.

Since they are now dehumanized and not seen outside of porn, people will then go on and make hurtful threats and comments about "trannys" and how terrible and disgusting they are.

Then when people stick up for trans people, they get told they are being over-sensitive and then they try to justify their offensive and bigoted statements with their ill-informed and ignorant rhetoric.

This of course has a terrible effect on trans people, especially those early in their transition, who constantly read these shitty comments being said and defended. This potentially can lead to self-harm or suicide because a lot of them already feel shitty about themselves and they don't need the extra hate.

Okay okay maybe it's not the fault of tranny porn, but I think it definitely contributes a little bit. I think most of the hate comes from ignorance and lack of awareness of trans people. The only time people hear of them is from some sensationalized story in the media, which over emphasis their trans status, or some shitty depiction in a movie for laughs or over-the-top stereotypes, or in porn. But when you get to know them, you can see they are just people living their lives, and you may have run into many and not even know it.

By your logic, sense straight white males appear in porn, straight white males are only seen as sex objects and are therefor more likely to commit suicide.

A better understanding of why people who are transgendered are sometimes viewed as "wierd" or get picked on, would be to have a fundimental understanding of social norms and how people who are deviated from that norm generally get treated.

Not to play the anti-christ in this situation, but as nice as total equality sounds, we don't live in a rainbow and unicorn land unfortunetly, and even people in RL have been known to be bigoted idiots.

Except straight white males aren't fetishized for solely having mismatched genitalia like trans women are. They still have their sense of identity respected as a male. Not to mention you see straight men everywhere you look in everyday life. While the only time most people hear of transsexuals is from porn.

I was not offended, and disagreeing with you is not the same as saying you are wrong, its offering up my own opinion, I feel it's unnessesary to put a disclaimer on every post.

I don't disagree with you that transexual people are discriminated against, just that the fetish of transexual would be around even if they were not discriminated. The reason is because people find all manner of things to become sexualy fixated on, ex. feet, leather, being tied up, etc etc. These things are perfectly natural, as is being a transexual.

If anything, if you would like to discuss it further, I would say that transexuals appearing in porn and people finding it sexualy arousing, makes them more of a social norm, than the opposite of finding it automaticly disgusting or unnattractive purely because of how it is currently percieved by society.

As a frequenter of a lot of smaller boards, I call bullshit on /b/ leaking out and 4chan's moderators are doing a mighty fine job of cleaning up the shit that from time to time appears on the wrong board. But people don't seem to realize that 4chan is still 4chan no matter which board you go to, it's fucking ridiculous to expect a serious discussion from any board, or to not get trolled when you post.

At least half the boards are almost completely devoid of moderation, and get actively ignored because of how the report queue functions. A board with high traffic will see a ton of reports to off-topic content immediately, bumping it to the top of the list, while slower boards end up near the bottom even if every single person browsing it at any time report a post.

4chan used to be a great place to discuss things, but it's slowly turning into something else. More traffic always brings about a higher ratio of shit content, and 4chan's, just like I suspect most internet forums', traffic just keeps on increasing exponentially. Unfortunately, the staff does not.

With some luck, the new wave of janitors will help combat the problems, but if the last one is of any indication it will do fuck all to solve anything.

    The people who do those kinds of activities on 4chan, and try to rally everybody together for them, are like 2% of 4chan users and are usually underage.

    Most people who have visited 4chan for years will tell you its quality went way downhill after that FOX news report popularized it as a "secret website for badass hackers" and the anti-Scientology protests.

    Everyone else on 4chan just likes to share and view funny content, and they hate reddit because they see reddit as stealing their content (which they do, although at least reddit usually gives credit, unlike 9gag).

    These kind of communities have a very solid, hidden, and unspoken companionship, though. When shit gets srs bsns, the lines tend to fade for a bit. I like to think that reddit, 4chan, anonymous, and any other community that takes something serious enough will recognize the resources available from the other communities when we have a common problem or goal.

    &TOTSE and 4chan hated each other, but I've seen them all turn up together IRL, for example. Look at Alexander Rhodes; that's the power of reddit just goofing off. It would be asinine for us to draw boundaries around SOPA or PIPA, child/animal abuse, or anything else we agree on because of allegiance on our sleeve. At that at the end of the day, were all drinking at the same bar, just sitting at different tables. And if some asshole comes in and tells us what we can talk about in our bar, or what kind of drinks will be served, it will be a race to see who gets to that asshole first.

    I almost exclusively read 4chan via /r/4chan . There can be funny OC gems occasionally (4 instance the grenade post), but you have to wade through A LOT of bullshit to find them.

    I use to frequent /b/ several years back but the problem with it now that people care about stupid shit like when they started and their extreme betaness ( Reddit is worse at this though ). The only boards worth mentioning now are /mu/,/fa/,/x/,/co/

    But /b/ has always shunned "newfags" and /mu/ is nearing exclusively shitposting these days. /x/ has basically been /b/ junior with spells and other inane bullshit for the last five years or so. /co/ is cool, because they have great moderation.
