I swear I thought I saw bacon swastikas.

[–]MomoTheCow 10 points11 points ago

I doubt it's kosher.

[–]Midn1ghtwhisp3r 8 points9 points ago

How do you cook yours? I tried this before and it was half raw half burned.

[–]Doilyn 3 points4 points ago

Keep it as far from the heating elements as you can, and cook at 300 degrees. Half raw/half burned sounds like your oven heats unevenly, in which case you'll want to put the bacon into a closed system, such as a sealed ceramic dish, so that the heat is distributed evenly.

If you want to cook it on the range, again use medium-low heat in your pan of choice. I prefer cast iron, but nonstick, stainless steel, and tempered aluminum all work great. Cook until desired crispiness is achieved on the bottom of your bacon, between 4-6 minutes, then flip. This can be done with a pan flick, with a spatula, or by sliding your bacon onto a plate and inverting it back into the pan. Cook for a few more minutes until desired doneness is achieved!

I'm wondering if this will work with turkey bacon. I shall have to try it and report back.

[–]Sloppy_Twat 12 points13 points ago

fuck turkey bacon

[–]redtheda 9 points10 points ago

I'd rather eat it, if it's all the same to you. Fucking it might get a little messy.

[–]thesatsui 0 points1 point ago

Turkey bacon may be our only hope once bacon prices go up :(

That clip is funny. I've had veggie bacon before, it's pretty awful. It kind of tastes like hot bacon-flavored chips.

On the other hand, if you do turkey bacon right, it can be really good. I've served it to people who thought it was pork bacon, no lie.

[–]Doilyn 0 points1 point ago

I mean, just experiment. And remember, you're always safer with lower heat, so gradually go up until you find the right temp for that that sweet, sweet bacony goodness.

[–]Exnihilation 2 points3 points ago

Same here. Also as the bacon cooked it shrunk which caused the weaves to come apart. I call shenanigans on this picture

[–]ReallyRick 23 points24 points ago

if the tip is for how to take more time preparing something and have it taste absolutely no different, this is a good one.

bacon weave that shit

[–]NapalmBBQ 13 points14 points ago

An extra step between me and a BLT?

[–]thisismeingradenine 3 points4 points ago

YES! I recently graduated to a 4-strip weave. Soooo tasty!

[–]Whispers666 6 points7 points ago

And they shall call you bacon-weaver, and your legacy will be that of grease and prosper.

This is the perfect BLT - courtesy of Crown Candy Kitchen, St Louis, MO

Would work well too if you're doing any kind of low carb / keto / paleo thing where you're staying away from bread. Take two bacon weaves and make them the "bread", and put the lettuce and tomato and mayo in the middle. Of course you can also make the lettuce into the "bread" part, but MOAR BACON.

[–]ST00PKlD 0 points1 point ago

oh dang thanks man, that looks delicious

[–]grand_marquis 1 point2 points ago

Seems very clever, but would throw my bacon to sandwich ratio off.

[–]RavenOfOdin -1 points0 points ago

Two words: Circle Bacon

[–]MrPrestige 2 points3 points ago

Unfortunately bacon strips are wider here in the UK

[–]tricky898 3 points4 points ago

Yep would have to buy streaky bacon, not back bacon.

[–]MrPrestige 0 points1 point ago

Thanks

The Glory. The beauty. Yet it seems so obvious, so simple. The light, blinding now, yet I could not see until you brought it to me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

[–]candybear_bella 0 points1 point ago

Seen this on the Berry. Genius!

[–]xXrasXx 1 point2 points ago

is this harley?

[–]Whyarentyoumadbro 0 points1 point ago

Simple bacon weave, playa..

[–]williamshitner 0 points1 point ago

Better recipe: B.

[–]SGTm2 1 point2 points ago

Not for the weak-hearted

[–]moviedude26 0 points1 point ago

Wow, brilliant.

[–]jevmorgan 0 points1 point ago

BLT LPT.

[–]The_Grand_Jester 0 points1 point ago

Bacon weave is so elegant.

[–]dhanson94 0 points1 point ago

[–]e42343 0 points1 point ago

The bacon weave reminds me of an idea I've had for a while but have never tried. I want to weave bacon like that and lay it over a small upside down oven safe bowl or cup so when it is cooked and hardens it makes a bowl. Then serve some good scrambled eggs in the bacon bowl.

I've never tried it but I bet it's awesome.

[–]CarrotCharmer 1 point2 points ago

Epic meal time did something similar the bacon cup

[–]tehpatriarch 0 points1 point ago

Use a muffin pan and make many of them, four strips per muffin bowl thing, should do it. crack an egg or two in the cup, add some shredded cheese, bake until eggs are done, and you get something kind of like this.

[–]davidkappelt 0 points1 point ago

Wrong. The bacon that is overlapped and touching will be slimy and not get cooked enough IMO

[–]mrpopenfresh 0 points1 point ago

I think you meant /r/cooking

[–]Willssss 1 point2 points ago

I think the pro tip here is not so much the layout but the number of bacon strips. More bacon = more awesome.

[–]tehpatriarch 1 point2 points ago

We bacon weave a bacon dream haters

[–]j0phus 0 points1 point ago

It's fucking astounding that bread sized slices of bacon are not being sold commercially yet.

[–]pmille31 -2 points-1 points ago

Due to the awesomeness of this idea, this will be me at work tomorrow.

Bacon weave blt sandwiches like a boss

[–]morphius501 -4 points-3 points ago

This is an ok start. First off lets get that shitty bread out of the way. Use the bacon weave AS the bread. Now we're getting somewhere. So we have bacon weave bread. Ok but this is a BLT so we need some bacon. So put some bacon between the bacon weave bread.

Next we need the L in the BLT. Let us (lettuce) put more bacon on this bitch. Ok good. Next up is the T. can't have a BLT without the T. We're going to now add Too much bacon. Ok Now lets go over this again and make sure we haven't missed anything. Bacon weave bread. Bacon, more bacon and too much bacon. oh and a dab of mayo to hold it all together. Looks like we're done.

Enjoy!
