Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

She was born without arms. My point was, she is AMAZING with her little toes! So blessed to call her my daughter!

[–]darchangel 8 points9 points ago

My daughter (now 2 1/2) was born missing 2 limbs also. The past few years have been a wild and educational ride. That's great that your daughter is doing so well.

Have you heard about the lucky fin project? Their motto is "Ten Fingers Are Overrated." :)

[–]mikek3 2 points3 points ago

Just curious... did you know this while she was in-utero?

[–]darchangel 4 points5 points ago

Yes, we were ~4-5 months pregnant when we learned. The doctor delicately informed us that in our state the pregnancy had to continue but other states interpreted Roe v. Wade differently. We thanked him but had no intention of aborting.

She's now a very happy little girl. Well... mostly happy. She's in the throws of the terrible twos right now and spending a lot of time learning that she can tell us "no" -- and learning the consequences that follow.

Threaten to cut off another limb. ;)

[–]darchangel 4 points5 points ago

Ha! We now have a 2nd baby girl (this one came fully assembled) who's just now getting good at crawling. We often joke: grab her before she gets over to the kitchen -- you remember what happened last time.

[–]christi405 4 points5 points ago

I'm glad that you can have fun with it!

We adopted our daughter from China just a few months before this picture was taken. You can read more about her on our blog www.abeautifulroad.com Do you have a blog?

[–]Anna_Mosity 0 points1 point ago

One of my childhood friends was born overseas with 1.5 arms and adopted by a couple that moved to my neighborhood. He was more physically skilled than many or most of the "normal" kids in school. We're in our late 20s now, but we still keep in touch.

I've known since I was a teenager that I wanted to adopt someday, and I've recently realized that I could be a really good mom for a kid with a limb difference. I've look forward to reading your blog!

Edit: Oh my gosh, christi405. You should do an AMA.

[–]christi405 1 point2 points ago

Someone else just told me that. What exactly is an AMA and how do I do it? (:

[–]darchangel 0 points1 point ago

AMA = ask me anything. See /r/iama : iama = "I am a". It's volunteering yourself to host a Q & A. I tried to do one once but not many people cared. I hope you have better luck.

[–]mikek3 1 point2 points ago

I hope you say that in front of company, simply for the shock value.

[–]darchangel 2 points3 points ago

Sucks that people downvoted you. You have my upvote. We say stuff like this a lot. My parents are not fans of my humor.

[–]currybananas 1 point2 points ago

I've been watching this woman's videos who was born without arms. She definitely shows you can be completely independent no matter what you're born with. Thought it might give you a confidence boost about your daughter's future. :)

[–]darchangel 2 points3 points ago

Tisha is amazing. I love her videos. Check out the one of her eating with chopsticks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rStLygEcGU4

[–]currybananas 0 points1 point ago

The thought of anyone mastering chopsticks in an hour's impressive, but with their feet?! Amazing

[–]mikek3 2 points3 points ago

I saw a documentary a long while back about some girl/woman (I forget) without arms. It's stunning how well she functioned. No fucks were given by that chick.

[–]darchangel 1 point2 points ago

I've also seen 3 different guys online (1 of whom is a redditor) who were born missing all 4 limbs. One of these guys just finished a massive swimming race which is difficult for 4-limbed people.

[–]Machete_Squad -2 points-1 points ago

[–]Blendthatbender 35 points36 points ago

That girl. She seems to be in desperate need of a pair.

[–]TheHappyYogurt 14 points15 points ago

Yeah gimme a sec ill buy her some from this arms dealer I know.

[–]pSyChO_aSyLuM 3 points4 points ago

[–]darchangel 0 points1 point ago

As noted above, I'm another parent of a kid missing limbs and I am so stealing this!

[–]BrownChicow 0 points1 point ago

Ahh you beat me by 13 hours! One day I'll have a good comment.

[–]eormom 4 points5 points ago

Kinda like this guy... except a gun, and not a little girl.

[–]Xandier_101 1 point2 points ago

Wow that is fucking impressive

[–]JasJ002 4 points5 points ago

She has no arms and she's still a cleaner ice cream eater then I am.

[–]pooponascoop 4 points5 points ago

Those big eyes...She's too cute.

[–]UhOhOreo2012 0 points1 point ago

I laughed thinking it was just a little girl being cute. Then I saw the arms :(

[–]pooponascoop 0 points1 point ago

What arms?

[–]willfaptodownvotes 3 points4 points ago

That's some impressive skills, right there.

[–]Nick182112 3 points4 points ago

She's adorable!

[–]darchangel 2 points3 points ago

If anyone needs a support or advice for raising a kid missing limbs, I highly recommend I-CAN: the international child amputee network They've been a great resource for us.

[–]uncletacoman 0 points1 point ago

I do.

[–]jscoppe 0 points1 point ago

Baseball pitchers and guitar players and such.

(waiting for replies with youtube links of people playing guitar with their feet)

[–]Apathetic_Answer_ 0 points1 point ago

Arm wrestlers.

[–]theghoul 0 points1 point ago

Seeing stuff like like this gives me hope for the Tyrannosaurus rex.

[–]BlueMunky 0 points1 point ago

I'd say probably her, but I could be wrong.

[–]ilikecheeseforreal 0 points1 point ago

Have you ever thought about prosthetics for when she's older?

[–]corttana 0 points1 point ago

I want ice cream now...

[–]DrWangPenisInspector -1 points0 points ago

15 years later the picture will be the same but it wont be with ice cream....

[–]the_clever_cuban 1 point2 points ago

And I thought I was good at picking things up with my toes....

[–]tehpokernoob 1 point2 points ago

"Don't forget to wash your feet before dinner honey!"

[–]Forgot_Your_Password -1 points0 points ago

"I DO!" raises hand

[–]wiithepiiple 1 point2 points ago

I'm convinced that a child would develop telekinesis if it meant ice cream.

[–]Mohavor 1 point2 points ago

WASH YOUR FEET BEFORE YOU EAT

[–]LukeTheSheep 1 point2 points ago

Rin ?!?

[–]guyinthebackseat 1 point2 points ago

First thing that popped in my mind was Katawa Shoujo. But yeah, she seems to be a trooper.

[–]Grizzant -5 points-4 points ago

Raise your hands if you love having arms!

[–]Italian_Barrel_Roll -2 points-1 points ago

I would have upvoted, but I couldn't without my arms.

[–]Woden1Eye -5 points-4 points ago

[–]safer 0 points1 point ago
