[–]Greyhaven7 1 point2 points ago

adhered to

?

It's not a real thing, you know that, right? There's no law, and pretty much no one has heard of it except some weird pocket of kids on Reddit.

[–]MrCarbohydrate 2 points3 points ago

You can adhere to any rule, self imposed or not.

[–]DiabloConQueso 3 points4 points ago

All rules are "self imposed," are they not?

[–]MrCarbohydrate 2 points3 points ago

Not if someone else stops you breaking it.

[–]DiabloConQueso 1 point2 points ago

If you're breaking it, then it's self-imposed, because you chose to disobey the rule, which is the same as not imposing the rule upon yourself, no?

The consequences of the rule are auxiliary and separate from the imposition of the rule.

Every once in a while, I bump into you on the internet. Sup man!

[–]Greyhaven7 1 point2 points ago

[–]IAmTheQ 1 point2 points ago

Living the dream. How are you and the wife doing?

[–]Greyhaven7 1 point2 points ago

Not bad, working, improving the house... that kinda' stuff. You? How's the little one?

[–]IAmTheQ 1 point2 points ago

He's good. He's sitting next to me with his toy laptop now. Learning the ways man. Gotta keep him off of reddit or he'll never make it through preschool...

[–]WorldOneWon -1 points0 points ago

OH OH OH

You're European right?

[–]made-for-downvoting 0 points1 point ago

Australian, and I know what he ment it just doesn't make sense to me why your date system is like that...

[–]j4c0bs 3 points4 points ago

It was No-Fap-February and i fucking completed that shit!

[–]deja-vu-comment 5 points6 points ago

Psh, family vacations are just playing masturbation on hard mode.

.

[–]khdutton[S] -2 points-1 points ago

Where have I heard this...?

[–]M374llic4 3 points4 points ago

The internet.

[–]DeuceActual 4 points5 points ago

While I think "No Fap September" was a stupid idea invented by some small corner of the interwebs, I still think this is an awesome gif.

[–]ilynia 2 points3 points ago

For people having trouble with this, this is formatted in Gregorian Middle-Endian format (MM/DD/YYYY), which is only partially in use in a few countries, although these countries also use Gregorian Big-Endian format (YYYY/MM/DD) in their military and some official uses and Gregorian Little-Endian (DD/MM/YYYY) can be used in scientific circles (yes, even in USA).

Gregorian Big-Endian (YYYY/MM/DD) is also known as the SI (Standards International) format for date order and is used in some Asian countries as standard, but the vast majority of the world (The Americas, Europe, Africa and Australasia) uses Gregorian Little-Endian format (DD/MM/YYYY).

[–]andi052 0 points1 point ago

I wonder why this is getting downvoted.

[–]NutSatchel 1 point2 points ago

UNLEASH ME!!!

[–]LexSenthur 0 points1 point ago

I kept reading the date and timestamp trying to figure out what sort of numeric palindrome or Fibonacci sequence bullshit it was.

[–]Lateon 0 points1 point ago

People take one second to masturbate?

[–]shanahanigans 0 points1 point ago

If I didn't masturbate for 30 days, I could probably finish in less than a second.

[–]josh2992 -3 points-2 points ago

10th of January was a while ago...

[–]thevoxman 7 points8 points ago

in America it's Month/Day/Year

[–]--hundy -1 points0 points ago

Is there any particular reason?

cause I cannot think of any on why one would put a larger scale of time in front of a smaller one, then put the largest third.

[–]Eckish 2 points3 points ago

Probably, because the most common spoken form of a date in America is in that format. "October 1st, 2012" is less words and faster to say than "1st of October, 2012".

Really, though, everyone should use year/month/day, so that my sorting algorithms can be simplified...

[–]MrKirthar 0 points1 point ago

Well, that's somewhat true, at least for the English language. But remember that most of Europe doesn't have English as their native language, and thus have different ways of talking about time and dates.

As a Swede, I find it faster and less awkward to say "1st of October, 2012" rather than "October 1st, 2012".

[–]Eckish -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, I had to specify America. We tend to always be... different.

[–]MrKirthar 0 points1 point ago

I have no problem with Americans doing it. I was just stating my opinion on your last sentence:

Really, though, everyone should use year/month/day, so that my sorting algorithms can be simplified...

But opinions are like assholes; everybody's got one.

[–]Eckish 0 points1 point ago

Oh, yes. Sorry.

That part was mostly a joke. "2012, October 1st" would be awkward for most anyone, I would think.

[–]made-for-downvoting 0 points1 point ago

But don't you guys say "4th of July"?

[–]thevoxman 0 points1 point ago

No idea. I'm sure there's a reason but not sure what it is. But I dont like using the numbers anyway. I'd just say OCT 1 2012

[–]thestickystickman -4 points-3 points ago

Don't tell me you thought 9/11 was November 9th...
