What the fuck. Picture is reposted and already two of the top comments are reposted from a previous one.

[–]DujekR 12 points13 points ago

People have bots to do that now.

[–]I_RAPE_TO_POTATO 17 points18 points ago

One day reddit will be populated entirely by bots. It won't exactly be the beginning of Skynet. More like a bunch of cheap programs seeking temporary validation from one another.

[–]Richeh 6 points7 points ago

With nonsensical names reconstructed from other successful bots.

[–]MagmaGuy 0 points1 point ago

Is the username WarriorGolden still free? I need to get a bot to start searching those things for me...

[–]oracular_spectacular 0 points1 point ago

i genuinely feel sorry for anyone that feels the need to use that.

[–]DujekR 0 points1 point ago

I think it's mostly to stop others from pretending to be clever by reposting comments themselves.

[–]GallantChicken 0 points1 point ago

Karma whoring

[–]18-24-61-B-17-17-4 90 points91 points ago

A new child and a new dog at the same time? What a monumentally stupid idea.

[–]gman94 66 points67 points ago

Poop EVERYWHERE

[–]buttlorde 8 points9 points ago

It's entirely possible that these two don't belong to the same people. Just sayin'.

[–]heyitsrachel 3 points4 points ago

I ALWAYS think that when I see these pictures! They're very cute when they're asleep, but yikes!

[–]romanomnom 5 points6 points ago

Totally agree. Granted - the dog will be house trained in a few weeks, he'll probably still be a terror for a few months after that.

It is a novel idea though and while cute, I'd rather a child grow up with an animal he/she will remember into adulthood.

[–]Israndel 2 points3 points ago

I dunno, my parents' first cat Donatello (I only called him Dondon) lived for a very long time (20 yrs.) and very nicely showed me how to properly pet a cat (hissing and gentle biting when I pet him the wrong way, purring and happy faces when I stroked him the right way).

The point is, Dondon died when I was 6 or 7 or so, but he established my love of cats and helped me understand them! I do not regret meeting that old, nice and wise cat.

[–]romanomnom 0 points1 point ago

While that's beautiful, and I'm sure Donatello was an awesome cat - most dogs don't get to live that long.

Average lifespan of most canines is 10-13 years. Closer to the low scale the bigger they get. Of course there are the small toy breeds that are known to consistently live past 16 years.

[–]jrenea09 0 points1 point ago

This just reminded me of something i saw the other day, "I got a puppy rather than a child, I'd rather ruin my carpet than ruin my life." But I have to say, we have to make those little legacy's to pass on our awesomeness.

[–]GobiasACupOfCoffee 47 points48 points ago

Such an obvious set up. The sleeve on the kid's top is way longer than it's arm and looked how it's hooked around the dog. Yeah, Mommy didn't do that at all. It was all baby.

Shitty pic.

[–]ntc2e 23 points24 points ago

that's the first thing i noticed. it's not even a hug, plus this is reallllly not safe.

[–]CuppyMcCake -4 points-3 points ago

Thank you ! I said the same damn thing the first time this was posted. Any parent that cares more about "karma" then their kid shouldn't have a child at all.

[–]ntc2e -4 points-3 points ago

don't forget to point out that this picture is taken ON A BEANBAG that has a warning on it (i'm assuming it has something along the lines of putting babies on it)

[–]bi0nicman 0 points1 point ago

Well it's only not safe if someone isn't watching. As noone could take their eyes off so much cuteness I'm sure everything will be fine.

Shitty parenting.

[–]CuppyMcCake 5 points6 points ago

Indeed it is.

[–]Elezoz -4 points-3 points ago

?

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 27 points28 points ago

You should never let babies near animals like that, particularly newborns, because of how fragile a baby's immune system is. Bacteria and virii that don't harm even small children can harm a baby. Animals, even clean ones, carry a lot of bacteria and virii ... so it's more than just a little bit stupid to set up a photo like this.

[–]gormster 17 points18 points ago

[–]LoopyLine 1 point2 points ago

Why this isn't common sense I have no idea

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 1 point2 points ago

Ah cool, thanks for the correction. I guess I was taught incorrectly somewhere along the line :)

[–]1onflux 2 points3 points ago

Makes me wonder what the age groups of people are who upvote this shit. OP will go through great lengths to be a whore to a system that won't help shit raising his/her baby.

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 0 points1 point ago

Yeah. I'd prefer to have health kids than high karma on reddit.

Some things in life are more important than an imaginary currency on teh intrawebz.

Have a great day :)

[–]phaeton_didnt_quit 11 points12 points ago

the odds of the puppy's germs killing the baby are slim. it's probably good for the baby in the long term because it does kick the baby's immune system into gear overtime. sure it'll cough and sneeze for a bit but humans have been around animals since before fire. i think a little puppy killing the baby via germs is a stupid idea.

and whatever doesn't kill it only makes it stronger.

that baby's going to be massive.

i bet you're the type of person to use hand sanitizer for everything.

[–]tumbleweedss 6 points7 points ago

I'd be less concerned with with viruses and more concerned with the automatic grasping of infants that would make a puppy snap at a baby.

[–]phaeton_didnt_quit 5 points6 points ago

babies are too coddled these days anyways.

[–]LaM3a 0 points1 point ago

and whatever doesn't kill it only makes it stronger.

Except viruses that turn even the adults into vegetables.

[–]Fluffi_McPhee 1 point2 points ago

I actually have to disagree. I have a friend who has put her baby down for naps with their outdoor dog since he was born (she says the dog is his 'sister') and that child has been in the hospital with various unknown infections and viruses constantly in the six months or so he's been alive. Very young babies have immune systems that are extremely weak, and while I'm all for letting kids build up an immune system (my daughter eats dirt all the time), it needs to wait until they're a little older. That's why bottles and things need to be sterilised or little babies.

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 0 points1 point ago

I'm just going off what my mother told me when my nephew was born. She's worked for her whole life as a midwife and tresillian educator with new mums so I'll defer to her knowledge and experience.

I totally agree that being overly cautious with kids is a bad idea, dirt is good! Babies don't have the same immune response as a child or adult so you need to be extra careful around them and exposing them to unnecessary sources of potential disease isn't a smart thing in my books.

I can't remember the last time I used sanitiser for my hands ... soap and water does me fine.

[–]Celltrex 1 point2 points ago

I hope you don't drive with your kid, he might die from a car crash.

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 0 points1 point ago

When driving with kids, I always make sure they're properly restrained, preferably in the back seat where it's safest, and in a capsule if they're small.

Driving is a necessary risk, purposely putting your baby on an animal is not.

Either way, I take your point that there's always risks in life, I just try to minimise them. Have a good one!

[–]Celltrex 0 points1 point ago

Alright then. I don't think that driving to an amusement park is a necessary risk though , and most people drive their kids to those places.

[–]jimii 0 points1 point ago

But, but not allowing babies to get their spoon on is also shitty parenting.

[–]peex 0 points1 point ago

Also don't forget about animal hair. It can cause cyst in baby's lungs.

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 0 points1 point ago

yup! Thought about that, but as it looks like a lab puppy I wasn't sure what the go was and figured someone would argue with me if I said that.

Have a great day :)

[–]agreezalot 0 points1 point ago

Thank you for saying this, it was the first thing I thought when I saw this (most like a premie and has respiratory issues anyway) so close to the puppy.

[–]SquirrelsAreAwesome 0 points1 point ago

My pleasure :) I hate parents doing unsafe things with kids, especially babies, because it's "cute". It's not the baby's fault they have dumb parents!

Have a great day!

[–]sloppytom 2 points3 points ago

The baby's shirt is inside out.

[–]OcifferWiggles 4 points5 points ago

Looks like it. Though not sure how dumb a company has to be to put a tag on the inside of baby clothes. I guess they thought babies didn't have enough to cry about.

[–]Jentacular 2 points3 points ago

Twist: It's a reborn doll.

[–]hullokoala 0 points1 point ago

Ugh. That woman managed to make babies even more unappealing.

[–]Snatchett 2 points3 points ago

This may look cute, but I would advise against doing this.

A newborn baby's immune system is very fragile at this stage and they shouldn't be near animals. Especially, a new born pup that probably hasn't had any jobs.

[–]jimbojones1 4 points5 points ago

Puppy wakes up disgruntled and bites babies face off. Double the karma. I can't wait for that pic.

[–]TheActualAWdeV 0 points1 point ago

It can then go to /r/wtf along with the rest of the pointless gore.

[–]auranl 8 points9 points ago

"Sir, the Karma Machine is running at max capacity, we may overload the upvote capacitor."

[–]OcifferWiggles 1 point2 points ago

"It seems all is lost, Commander... wait... LOOK! The karma is producing its own power! It is FEEDING the Karma Machine!"

"We are saved!"

[–]Because_Im_mad 3 points4 points ago

Am I the ONLY one who noticed that those arms are massive? Come on now people. Clearly OP is raising an urban gangster here.

[–]thb789890 10 points11 points ago

Because OP totally took that picture

[–]ProfDee 3 points4 points ago

COLBY!?

[–]justahipster 3 points4 points ago

Dude, that fucking story ruined all things involving dogs on Reddit, that's immediately what i thought of when i saw this post.

[–]madmsk 0 points1 point ago

That baby's arms are CRAZY long.

[–]deerchild 0 points1 point ago

Yea. i don't believe the OP just found them like that. But i don't really care, its a cute picture

[–]JakJakAttacks 1 point2 points ago

Put the baby's arm around the puppy. Yeah, like that! Gonna get so much karma for this.

[–]ender123 -1 points0 points ago

cute

[–]emilyblunt619 0 points1 point ago

Love that baby.

[–]jrenea09 -1 points0 points ago

WHY ARE YOU SO CUDDLY???!!! i don't know, that's what i thought. Who gives a damn if it's a repost? If it is this cute, keep that shit alive.

[–]ThatVoiceAgain 0 points1 point ago

Staged. Puppy moved three seconds later and the baby woke up screaming.

[–]iwaterski 0 points1 point ago

Wish I had that for a teddy bear growing up.

[–]naomisparks 0 points1 point ago

what kind of dog is that??? fucking huge!!!

Colby and the teenager 10 years ago? Too early?

[–]thatwombat 0 points1 point ago

Looks like that kid could win a long arm contest... Shoop da whoop.

[–]ANewBro 0 points1 point ago

...am I the only old fart around here who thought "neverending story"?

[–]Metool42 0 points1 point ago

Aw you're so right!

[–]MadMads500 0 points1 point ago

Kids growing up with their pet is cute... But they would only be about 10 years old when the pet died... Not the best of ages to have something die :/ It would of been your friend for life :(

[–]Metool42 0 points1 point ago

10? My dog is 17 right now, heading 18 :P

[–]MadMads500 0 points1 point ago

Yes I understand that... But the average age for a specific breed is 10 and I could off said 21 because that's how old my aunties dog was.

[–]hurricaneR 0 points1 point ago

The tags really bother me. Tuck them, cut them, do... something.

[–]Skathington 1 point2 points ago

The kid was already starting in his early years. Poor Colby.

[–]Spartan12421 0 points1 point ago

I haven't taught my baby that trick yet.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]MrPhatBob 4 points5 points ago

At what point in human development did this become the case? At one point we shared filthy dwellings with the full family, pets and livestock.

[–]Dogbiker 1 point2 points ago

No, it's been researched that those that grow up on farms have less allergies than those that don't grow up with animals. Ergo, animals are good for children. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/t/story?id=116852&page=1

[–]Fluffi_McPhee 0 points1 point ago

Long term yes, and as they get older, but newborns have virtually no immune system. I have a friend who has put her baby to sleep with her dog since he came home from the hospital, and he's always back there with unidentifiable viruses and infections and he's only 6 months old. I'm all for building an immune system but it needs to wait till the baby is a little older.

[–]Frankie_Carbone -2 points-1 points ago

Frame it, hang it up, then the kid can always say he grew up with the dog...cause there's the proof

[–]Forblarion -2 points-1 points ago

Way to break the internet asshole

[–]WaterTrashBastard -2 points-1 points ago

May be set up, but makes you think.. Goodness, humans are pretty small when we start out. :l

[–]TerryTibbsEsq -1 points0 points ago

Hello Asthma !

[–]JustSayinSM86 0 points1 point ago

Citation? My daughter went through allergy testing and they said they liklihood of pet dander allergies was greatly reduced because she had a pet.

[–]TerryTibbsEsq 0 points1 point ago

J. C. Celedón et al. Exposure to cat allergen, maternal history of asthma, and wheezing in the first five years of life. The Lancet 360(9335):781-82 (2002).

Essentially if you have a family history of asthma it may be worse, if you don't it may be better.

Edit : The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology says 1 in 10 children had asthma in 2009. I certainly wouldn't take a 1 in 10 gamble on my babies well being, but hey thats just me. Especially as a baby can't tell you it's harder to breath.

[–]Riceater -3 points-2 points ago

Yuck.. that kid is gross.

[–]WithqWord -2 points-1 points ago

I wish it would let you up vote more than once! =)
