I played this game last night! I lost, though. It still hurts.

[–]This_Is_Very_CleverSilence 30 points31 points ago

Hangovers are a bitch

[–]TellTaleTypistTom Baker 130 points131 points ago

There is not enough alcohol in the world.

[–]TobiLivesCyberperson 27 points28 points ago

[off-topic] I love your username. It looks and sounds lovely. [/off-topic]

[–]TellTaleTypistTom Baker 12 points13 points ago

[off-topic] Well, thank you.[/off-topic]

[–]exdeezHartnell 4 points5 points ago

It won't hurt when you're dead.

Disclaimer: I do not recommend this.

[–]MelodyPondEsqSmith 6 points7 points ago

Wow...so incredibly sad :/

[–]TomguydudeSmith 2 points3 points ago

Too true brother. Too true.

[–]phantomlover90 208 points209 points ago

This should just be called the Moffat Drinking Game

[–]frogjuice 123 points124 points ago

Character dies-1 shot

Something breaks your heart into a million pieces-1 shot

Some amazingly insignificant detail finally pays off-finish your drink

[–]Vibster 115 points116 points ago

Character dies-1 shot

Do not attempt with ASoIaF or you will die.

[–]DrKillingsworthTARDIS 35 points36 points ago

Something breaks your heart into a million pieces-1 shot

Equally as fatal with asioaf

[–]Darth_Hobbes 36 points37 points ago

"And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?"

[–]Serbaayuu 19 points20 points ago

Fuckin' Freys.

[–]Kitsch22 10 points11 points ago

I'm just... I'm just going to start taking shots. I do not think I'm going to run out of things to forget.

[–]bravadoTARDIS 0 points1 point ago

heh

[–]RapeytheClown 3 points4 points ago

I just finished reading that part yesterday. I haven't opened the book to read on past that chapter/section/Catelyn

[–]vipercjn 3 points4 points ago

"You Raped Her, You Killed Her, You Murdered Her Children!!"

[–]logoth 1 point2 points ago

Gah! Where's my shot glass.

[–]heyyitskaitSmith 2 points3 points ago

Just drink from the bottle, its easier. Especially for that part. You should probably have a few bottles at the ready.

[–]cyvaris 0 points1 point ago

A few cases of bottles more like.

[–]countrybuhbuh 24 points25 points ago

ASoIaF?

[–]Vibster 46 points47 points ago

A Song of Ice and Fire. The series of books which starts with A Game of Thrones.

[–]countrybuhbuh 3 points4 points ago

gotcha thanks

[–]ramsay_baggins 13 points14 points ago

A Song Of Fire And Ice (the books the Game Of Thrones show is based on).

[–]Ahesterd 2 points3 points ago

You say that, but really it wouldn't be that bad if you go by the show. I mean, one, maybe two shots an episode, typically? Very doable.

[–]cyvaris 1 point2 points ago

Ohhh my Sweet Summer Child what do you know of character death in GoT/ASoIF.

[–]Psych277TARDIS 0 points1 point ago

Caught me off guard. Bravo.

[–]ProtoKun7Smith 18 points19 points ago

Given that well, you may need a new liver.

[–]Alex-the-3217thSmith 7 points8 points ago

Bah even I could take that.

[–]bigdampat 6 points7 points ago

But that sounds an awful like the Whedon Drinking Game.

[–]frogjuice 2 points3 points ago

I wish Joss Whedon, Steve Moffat, and Dan Harmon would all collaborate on something. Can you imagine?

[–]bigdampat 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, I can actually. If we combine Whedon's characters with Moffat's stories and Harmon's humor..well how could we describe it? All of them posses great character and story writing. But, each one specializes in something. Moffat with stories, Whedon with characters and Harmon with humor and plot. Combine them and you get something like the style of Serenity with the action of Avengers with the humor of Airplanes. It would be beyond epic. Someone start a kickstarter.

[–]cyvaris 0 points1 point ago

And then add Martin in there for fun.

[–]JMaboardMcGann 5 points6 points ago

Some amazingly insignificant detail finally pays off-finish your drink

So in this season we wouldn't finish our drinks?

In Sherlock we'd be wasted.

[–]frogjuice 3 points4 points ago

No no, I mean things like--Amy's glasses, I bet they'll be a part of the doctor's ensemble from now on. If I am proven right, I get to finish my drink.

[–]alphazero924Tennant 1 point2 points ago

Well we've only really seen the first half of the season so far.

[–]Tmmrn 2 points3 points ago

And again if the character dies for the second time? Do you vomit when the character comes back to life?

[–]frogjuice 3 points4 points ago

Character comes back to life/was never dead-finish your drink, have a friend who doesn't know take a shot

[–]enscrib 7 points8 points ago

Also applies to Whedon.

[–]nachtliche 38 points39 points ago

Why is this so sad? Amy & Rory lived happily ever after together, and were buried in the same grave. If they kept on adventuring with Doctor Who, things wouldn't have ended well. This is actually a very happy ending.

[–]EbolaPie 37 points38 points ago

As was mentioned earlier, what about Brian?

[–]OneWarning13 23 points24 points ago

FUCK! I didn't think of that. Fuck. Now I'm sad all over again.

[–]D14BL0 17 points18 points ago

Don't worry, he'll be okay. Just like Wilf.

[–]EbolaPie 14 points15 points ago

;_;

[–]douchebag_karrenEccleston 8 points9 points ago

No. Wilf got his granddaughter back, and he knew of all the amazing things she had done. He knew and understood and got to watch her get married and be happy and not be in danger anymore. Brian doesn't get any of that.

[–]ZoogyTARDIS 0 points1 point ago

Well he did get to see them get married and also knows some of the amazing things they did to help people. Still not the same of course but I thought I should point that out.

[–]KmlkmljklSilence 3 points4 points ago

[–]teabaggingmovement 0 points1 point ago

Why the fuck did you do that?

[–]DrHilarityTARDIS 16 points17 points ago

Not all sad endings = death.

spoiler

I wish gruesome/sudden deaths were the only things I find incredibly sad :(

[–]obnyis 6 points7 points ago

[–]DrHilarityTARDIS 6 points7 points ago

[–]endercoaster 3 points4 points ago

[–]DrHilarityTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

But none of that's happened (and I don't really think anything you listed is at all likely; in all honesty I don't even know what you mean by "pick them up and drop them off back in the past" - pick them up from where?).

Regardless, even aside from your specific examples, I'm not going to have less of an emotional reaction towards something I'm actually watching/have watched because of fifty million storylines that might happen in the future. If that was the case, why have an emotional reaction about anything I watch, ever? "Oh, character x just died. Oh well, might come back later."; "Oh, character x is in love with character y. That can end in so many ways, doesn't even matter."; etc.

[–]endercoaster 0 points1 point ago

It was mostly that I had trouble being sad about the happily ever before. I'm just also observing that there are outs.

[–]DrHilarityTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

Gotcha! Just my own response to the idea you introduced in your post.

And of course we're all entitled to our own reactions... in fact, I'm happy for you, that you don't have to drink yourself to sleep to keep the memories of their last farewell out of your head, except of course the drinking only makes it the only thing you think about, and makes the memories looser, more present in your head until all you can do is sit there drunk and crying, with a towel to dry the puddles of tears you're getting everywhere.

I reacted sadly.

Also I'm totally joking, I don't drink myself silly over shows!

Unless they're depressing. Kidding again.

Probably.

[–]endercoaster 0 points1 point ago

I probably would have been hit harder if I didn't have the fact that they were leaving spoiled.

[–]blackmagickchick 1 point2 points ago

[–]obnyis 0 points1 point ago

[–]XtremeGoose 3 points4 points ago

Actually... Do you remember where river was when she regenerated for the first time in 'Day of the Moon'? I don't think Moffat set this episode in New York by coincidence...

[–]bear1 8 points9 points ago

It's still an ending. I hate all endings, because that means it's over. I'm not even trying to quote the Doctor I just agree with him about it.

[–]Spazit 4 points5 points ago

I feel I have stumbled upon a terrible spoiler given I haven't seen the latest episode.

[–]DrHilarityTARDIS 7 points8 points ago

Oy, please, for your sake, stay away from this entire subreddit until you've seen the episode... it's excellent, and you deserve to watch it without having the whole thing spoiled for you!

[–]Spazit 2 points3 points ago

That's why I'm not going near /r/dexter at all today. Damn /r/all took me here and I didn't notice the subreddit till I was knee deep in spoilers..

[–]notprttyTARDIS 39 points40 points ago

All of the Whovians would die of alcohol poisoning. It almost never stops hurting for one reason or another.

[–]motorcityvickiK-9 10 points11 points ago

Seriously. Why do we do this to ourselves?

[–]FCallejaTARDIS 20 points21 points ago

Cause we're ALIVE! And we're BRILLIANT!

[–]VoiceofKaneTom Baker 13 points14 points ago

Just this once, everybody lives!

Angels spoiler

[–]ab3ju 6 points7 points ago

[–]FCallejaTARDIS 7 points8 points ago

They lived too! Just... in the past. Now I'm sad again, damn you.

[–]warfrogs 5 points6 points ago

Spoiler man! Spoiler!

[–]FCallejaTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

To get my comment you'd have to un-spoiler VoiceofKane's, so I thought that kinda gets it covered.

[–]warfrogs 0 points1 point ago

But not to see it. I mean... Angels spoiler I dunno, just my opinion though.

[–]ab3ju -1 points0 points ago

Spoiler tags don't hide child comments for me...

[–]FCallejaTARDIS 0 points1 point ago

I meant "to get" as in "to understand".

[–]ab3ju 0 points1 point ago

ah, I read a 'to' in there somehow.

[–]Zordwine 0 points1 point ago

Sonofabitch! This WOULD be when I realize my phone doesn't show spoilers properly! Where is my alcohol?! Also, I'd like to say thank you for using the spoiler tag and that I'm not mad at you.

[–]notprttyTARDIS 4 points5 points ago

It's such a sweet pain.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 2 points3 points ago

does this mean im a masochist

[–]notprttyTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

An emotional masochist, yes. And the makers of Dr Who are bloody sadists.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 6 points7 points ago

BDSMDW

(Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Maschocism, Doctor ..Who?)

[–]notprttyTARDIS 5 points6 points ago

Or just BDSM Bondage, Doctor, Sadism, Masochism :P

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 3 points4 points ago

But then you lose the Discipline which is one of the hottest parts :<

[–]notprttyTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

I feel like the Doctor kind of denotes discipline as well...

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 0 points1 point ago

This conversation is getting too heated for me. I just made /r/skaro; maybe I can make the rules there and we can bring it there :p

[–]FeepingCreature 0 points1 point ago

We need to reorder the acronym so that Doctor and Master are side by side.

[–]ageeksgirl08Eccleston[!] 2 points3 points ago

How about Bondage, Discipline/Doctor, Sadism/Sherlock, Masochism/Moffat?

[–]shuzumiEccleston 3 points4 points ago

Bound Doctor, Sadist Master....

[–]sydneybrennerMcCoy 31 points32 points ago

How can something so lovely make me feel so heartbroken?

[–]FountainsOfFluidsTARDIS 4 points5 points ago

I'm always sad when things are over. Fucking life.

[–]sydneybrennerMcCoy 0 points1 point ago

I think it's 'cause it's off the telly. If it was real life, you could do something to stop it. But you can't on TV, you just have to sit there and take it.

[–]FountainsOfFluidsTARDIS 0 points1 point ago

Same with my last relationship.

[–]dlan4327 16 points17 points ago

The Joss Whedon Drinking Game:

  1. Take a shot every time he unexpectedly kills a character you love deeply.

  2. Die of alcohol poisoning.

[–]J_LaPEccleston 6 points7 points ago

Alternatively titled, The George R. R. Martin Drinking Game.

[–]DasHuhn 4 points5 points ago

George RR martin does it better than whedon does, IMO

[–]J_LaPEccleston 8 points9 points ago

Yes, because he takes your favorite characters, then makes your worst enemies your favorite characters and just mindfucks you when you realize who you've begun to root for.

[–]DasHuhn 8 points9 points ago

"How..how am I liking...I don't eve-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

[–]wshatchCyberperson 5 points6 points ago

"No Jaime don't do that... No Jaime don't think that I don't want to like you Jaime. I will not like you Jaime. God dammit Jaime..."

[–]farnswiggleTennant 0 points1 point ago

This seems like an intriguing concept; can you give me an example of this? I'd be really interested in checking it out.

[–]J_LaPEccleston 2 points3 points ago

Just read the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It's what the TV show Game of Thrones is based of off, also the name of the first book in the series. It's one of my favorites.

[–]farnswiggleTennant 0 points1 point ago

Oh really? I have that on my computer somewhere and I just finished season 1 of game of thrones. =/ I actually didn't really enjoy it (sorry hivemind!)

[–]J_LaPEccleston 0 points1 point ago

It happens, haha. I'm a fantasy geek though.

[–]filmguy100K-9 14 points15 points ago

Take a drink every time Rory dies.

[–]a_hunger_artist 6 points7 points ago

You madman.

[–]twogunsalute 15 points16 points ago

I saw this just before I watched the last three episodes and didn't understand... I understand now... Fuck.

[–]mathgodDalek 62 points63 points ago

Keep drinking until you can accept the plot holes without questioning them.

[–]Sretsam 13 points14 points ago

Rory is the big one that gets to me. He's said he remembers those 2000 years, but doesn't like to, he kicked some ass on Demon's Run, but any other time, he just goes back to being the robot dog.
Even if they just had a couple minutes of 1 episode, of him being awesome, then freaking out, saying he "Can't stand those memories!" or "I won't go back to that!" just anything to give him an excuse for not being a crazy awesome centurion with 2000 years of experience, learning, etc., I would be fine.

[–]mathgodDalek 4 points5 points ago

2000 years really should drive him insane.

[–]defenastrator 0 points1 point ago

I think he when full circle a few times.

[–]XtremeGoose 1 point2 points ago

It's explained as the alternate reality in the Big Bang is more dream like memory than anything.

[–]blackmagickchick 1 point2 points ago

He has memories of those 2000 years, but they are more like dreams that hardcore memories since it technically happened in an alternate reality. He can "access" The Centurion when in dire need (i.e. Demon's Run, though that seemed more like a show because of his line to River saying it was the Doctor's idea to wear the customer).

I think the true mark of his 2000 years was the scene on the roof before they jump. He is willing to do anything for Amy, even if it might not come out well for him in the end. He waited not only 2000 years for her, he was willing to give his life.

And showing him "struggle" with his memories of the past (which is debatable if they were painful because of what he may have seen or if it was because he had to wait for Amy) would have been silly and contrived unless it was intrinsic to the plot and actually drove the story (like in The Girl Who Waited).

[–]Sretsam 0 points1 point ago

He describes them as a door that he can open. That's like regular memories for me, either there or not. If he didn't have the skills at all, he shouldn't really have been able to help at Demon's Run, so he obviously has them.
I'd say the jumping was more him just truly loving Amy than anything else. There was a chance it would fix things, but if nothing else, it saves her.

He also doesn't have to "struggle" with the memories, he can just hate them. Say "2000 years, alone waiting for you. I would do it again in a heart-beat, but I never want to think about those memories again!" Something like that. Quick, easy, fills the plot-hole.

[–]Psych277TARDIS 25 points26 points ago

There are no holes, just logical jumps which Moffat has yet to explain...

...Yeah, I don't believe me either.

[–]haystackratTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

Hah!

[–]Hardcore_nobueno 2 points3 points ago

Don't think of them as holes, think of them as unresolved mysteries

[–]The_HeroOf_Canton 3 points4 points ago

That will never ever be resolved.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 7 points8 points ago

The man who always looks to the bottom of his glass, because he not dare look back.

Ive been playing this game for 5 years, personally.

[–]lalilulelo09TARDIS 2 points3 points ago

The refusal to acknowledge what is going on outside of the bottom of that glass does not mean they stop existing. Those problems may be tough but they are only going to get tougher through non-action. Things may suck right now but they do not have to suck in the future, just one more drink will not magically solve anything. I'd say cut your losses now, look up, there is a bright and beatiful world out side of the bottom on that glass. Best of luck friend.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 2 points3 points ago

thanks for keeping to the reference :) but Im never looking back ever. I have already started to look to the sides but it's still the sides of a glass.

[–]lalilulelo09TARDIS 0 points1 point ago

The contents of that glass have a side effect where they can put a layer of fog on everything else. Making them seem a bit uglier than they really are. The longer time since that last sip the clearer things can get.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant 0 points1 point ago

I'm just gonna keep running to the bottom though; I dare not look back. Don't worry, the contents of the glass are nearing their end. I'm trying to get to the bottom now, not wishing it never comes.

[–]Nordicskiah 0 points1 point ago

Thank you!

[–]freakpants 5 points6 points ago

Me and a female "friend" always drink when anyone says "doctor", "tardis", or screwdriver. Also when he uses his screwdriver. Makes for a funny evening of watching doctor who. :D

[–]EbolaPie 3 points4 points ago

You must really like alcohol. Do you drink when the continuity announcers come on then as well?

[–]freakpants 0 points1 point ago

say what? we are currently watching season 3 in german, that is airing 2 episodes a week now, since her english isn't good enough. I am basically rewatching everything.

Since these are being aired on a pay per view channel i won't be able to get, we have to resort to other adfree avenues until the dvd is released. So no announcers ;)

[–]MKUltra2011 3 points4 points ago

I do this anyway. Good to know there's an official name.

[–]literallyagooch 3 points4 points ago

Wow, I didn't know I had been a Doctor Who fan all these years.

[–]MadScientist14159Tennant 8 points9 points ago

Looks like I'm sober tonight.

[–]TheBakedPotato 17 points18 points ago

Am I the only one that was completely unaffected by the last episode. It's because

[–]DanielM4713 30 points31 points ago

I actually thought it would've been much better spoiler

[–]altrocksDalek 9 points10 points ago

This, right here, is what I was hoping for. spoiler

[–]JivlainDavison 7 points8 points ago

[–]canonymous 2 points3 points ago

I believe River implied she would "send" the book to Amy, so she won't see her.

[–]Psych277TARDIS 2 points3 points ago

Unless River goes back before that time and mails it to her.

[–]JivlainDavison 0 points1 point ago

[–]Quicksilver_JohnyTARDIS 8 points9 points ago

Woah, I expect spoilers for Doctor Who here, not unmarked spoilers for completely different shows.

[–]altrocksDalek 0 points1 point ago

No spoilers. Intentionally left vague. Will add to the spoiler tag, though.

[–]Dragonsoul 2 points3 points ago

I think that would have been far better, and they could have twisted the screw further if the doctor had know that it wouldn't be the case and was merely too late....

[–]QuazzTennant 0 points1 point ago

Then again, there would have been too many people complaining about the Sherlock similarities if they had done that, so... meh.

How so? They should complain now, everyone thought they were dead when they weren't. If they actually died it would have been totally different

[–]altrocksDalek 0 points1 point ago

Too many similarities in that hypothetical ending. Mostly I was just pointing out that no matter what Moffat would have doe there, there would be a sizeable number of people complaining about something. Kind of wrote and advertised himself into a disappointing corner with that episode, I think.

[–]haystackratTARDIS 0 points1 point ago

I would have loved that. I started crying at that point, but when they woke back up again I was kind of put off.

And here I go again, complaining...

[–]Psych277TARDIS 0 points1 point ago

It would have hurt less, for sure. I think it was done this way for pure heartbreak value.

[–]dyslexda 15 points16 points ago

Welcome to everything Moffat does. Convenient plot devices everywhere.

[–]AgentFalcon 8 points9 points ago

The whole thing was pretty weird IMO. It was pretty well established last episode and earlier that the Ponds wanted to stop traveling and live a real life together. Why not just let that happen instead of trying to emulate the shock and sadness of Doomsday? Let them live out their lives and maybe hint that the Doctor visits them offscreen a time or two. Would've been a lot better ending for them, but I guess it wasn't dramatic enough...

[–]TheBakedPotato 5 points6 points ago

Yeah, you've got it exactly. Moffat wants to be remembered as someone who made the most cinematic, dramatic and emotional series of Doctor Who yet, and he's forcing it as hard as he can. Another example was the "remember me" bullshit from Asylum of the Daleks. Instead of building a new, original, and interesting character and making us lament the loss of her independently, he copied the Amy Pond character (flirty, attractive, smart, strong etc. etc.) and gave her shitty dialogue to sucker in the over-invested.

[–]BelvyzepPertwee 3 points4 points ago

Really, though, don't most of the companions since Susan Foreman meet at least a few of those criteria?

[–]oblimo_2K12 2 points3 points ago

It's the Doctor's "type,", after all.

[–]BWalker19 6 points7 points ago

Wasnt his death locked when he read the chapter titles? It had to happen

[–]TheBakedPotato 3 points4 points ago

Uh, not really. Google "doctor who manhattan chapter", first result. Chapter 11 applies to the jump, chapter 12 could be to the Doctor.

[–]Hardcore_nobueno 14 points15 points ago

It wasn't so much that they couldn't have a happy ending (they did in the epilogue at least) it was that they needed an ending and this was probably one of the best ways to do it.

[–]TheBakedPotato 16 points17 points ago

It was one of the most dramatic ways to do it. Maybe that's the best to some people, but I would have been perfectly satisfied with them saying goodbye on the doorstep of their 21st century home, the pair deciding not to travel with him any more. spoiler

[–]KaChildeEccleston 30 points31 points ago

They tried that when the Doctor gave them a house and they carried on with their lives. It became evident that the character of Smith's Doctor could never willingly leave Amy and Rory behind. There had to be something big separating the trio.

[–]Hardcore_nobueno 10 points11 points ago

Damn. spoiler

[–]TheBakedPotato 14 points15 points ago

Because Moffat wanted to end the series in a way that makes you think "man, Moffat's a genius" and not "man, Moffat's a prick."

[–]Hardcore_nobueno 9 points10 points ago

But now I think he's a bigger prick than if he had just showed the aftermath

[–]SupernumeraryEccleston 2 points3 points ago

I had the same revelation this morning, and that is what affected me more strongly than most of the episode itself. I won't dispute Moffat's talent -- his work has had some truly wonderful storytelling -- but I just can't feel nearly as sad for the Doctor as I do spoiler.

[–]HolyDuckRaves 1 point2 points ago

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't put it past Moffat to skip it. But maybe my expectations of writers at the moment is being heartless given that I've just finished reading 'A Song of Ice and Fire' :P

[–]SupernumeraryEccleston 0 points1 point ago

That's my expectation as well; I'm telling myself not to be cynical, but.

Oh, boy. First-time reader?

[–]HolyDuckRaves 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, semi-started on a re-read already though aha

[–]d4mini0nTARDIS 1 point2 points ago

I'm expecting it to be a minisode.

[–]DavidTennantIsHotTennant -1 points0 points ago

It wasn't; The Doctor already made him happy with his travelling

[–]Hardcore_nobueno 0 points1 point ago

Happy enough not to care that he never sees his son again?

[–]OneWarning13 0 points1 point ago

I'm on mobile and can't read that. I would be very grateful if you'd message me and explain.

How about the idea that Rory and Amy go see Brian? It was mentioned in another thread that perhaps the reason Brian was so quick to accept time and space travel was because Rory had already told him all about it decades earlier.

[–]TheBakedPotato 0 points1 point ago

That's making up excuses for Moffat. Sorry, you can think that if you want, but I don't like imagining up stuff that wasn't in the show.

[–]vendlusSmith 0 points1 point ago

They didn't show anything about their new lives. As for imagining things, you're imagining that Brian didn't live a happy life after this event. Why do you assume Brian didn't get a happy ending as well?

We are both imagining things. I choose to imagine the happier thing until the show gives us reason not to. Right now, I can't think of a reason Rory wouldn't go see his father, so I'm going to think that he might have. It takes extra effort for me to think Rory said "Hmm.. I know my dad handles the idea of time/space travel really well. How about I drop in and visit him? He really should still be involved in our lives. Nah, that's a stupid idea. We will just leave him never knowing that we lived happy lives." Heck, I don't see Amy allowing Rory not to go see his dad.

Let's assume Brian was born in the same year as the actor who played him: 1959. If Amy and Rory were sent back to the 1930s and died in their 80s, they probably died in the 1980s, when Rory's dad was in his 20s. Do you think that Rory and Amy are likely to be able to track down a 20-something year old man? Even if they can, wouldn't it create a paradox if Brian knew, and therefore tried to stop them from leaving?

Also, why would Brian ask the Doctor to bring them home safely (or thereabouts, the actual line escapes me) if he knew what was going to happen? Brian was very apprehensive about letting them leave again, why would he not either a) be fine with it or b) be absolutely against it and tell them the truth if he knows what's going to happen?

It doesn't make sense, and even if it did, it wasn't in the TV show.

Agreed, I was also unaffected by it. I was thinking, "hmm, okay, so thats it then, really?"

It will hurt until the end of time.

[–]ElpisofChaos 5 points6 points ago

Finally good episode this season, at least.

[–]SkinnedRat 1 point2 points ago

That's because it was the episode Moffat spent the first 4 episodes building up to, instead of focusing on the individual stories themselves.

[–]jackblack2323K-9 3 points4 points ago

Doesn't even compare to this

[–]usernameshmoosername 0 points1 point ago

My heart shattered into a million pieces.

That's similar to my Doctor Who: The Television Movie drinking game:

Drink every time you need a drink.

[–]BrianbotCyberperson 1 point2 points ago

Real game: Drink anytime anyone says "Doctor" or "Time"

[–]zsdazeyTennant 1 point2 points ago

Every time the Doctor says "I'm sorry" or "I'll save you", take a drink.

I feel like this is a spoiler for tonight's episode. Damnit, Time zones!

[–]endercoaster 1 point2 points ago

Maybe I'm just calloused, but I knew they were leaving the show, and am relieved they got their happily ever... before.

[–]Luigi2198 0 points1 point ago

1 shot for everytime Rory dies, goodbye liver

[–]TheShadowKick 0 points1 point ago

I like how it says 'collapse' right under her tweet. Seems appropriate.

So as an American Geek who has caught on and gone back to watch all the new series, this feels like breaking up with a long term girlfriend. It's not that Amy = my ex, but it brings up the exact same feelings. I'm longing today.... wanting something to be close and intimate that I know I'll never get again. Should I get lucky and run into her at the mall or on a reunion episode, It will be nice, but never, ever the same.

First it was Ten Tennant... Now crazy and beautiful Amelia. Fuck this amazing, beautiful.phenomenal show. Fuck you Doctor - I Love You.
