I may be wrong, but I think the order of the characters is switched from its original Italian title, hence the confusion with the the English title vs. the order of the characters on the poster.

Yes. That is correct. Oddly enough if you put the original title into google translate it will say "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", but if you split it up it will correctly tell you that Bad and Ugly are inverted in the original Italian title.

Now I'm even more confused. "THE GOOD" is in the middle, looking like the unucky from the meme. "THE BAD"is the one Greg replaced, but on the opposite side. "THE UGLY" is the one Steve replaced, but again on the opposite side.

Because you are assuming that the part of the title under the character in the poster refers to that particular character when it doesn't. Clint Eastwood was Blondie AKA The Good, who was replaced by Good Guy Greg. Lee Van Cleef played Angel Eyes AKA the Bad, who was replaced by Scumbag Steve. Finally Eli Wallach played Tuco AKA The Ugly, who was replaced by Bad Luck Brian.

So to repeat, the order of the characters in the poster do not relate to the order in the Titles of the movie.
