I always imagine that, after reading this post and similar posts, there is at least one person on Reddit who is a functinal, kind, caring and fun member of society and really likes to wear, say, an Obey cap. Innocent and carefree, they are suddenly informed that many people think they are a complete tosspot for wearing said cap and their entire week is ruined.

[–]accidently_a_femur 102 points103 points ago

I wear nike everything. It wasn't on purpose, I swear. I just woke up one day and was like... oh no, I just did it.

[–]UhOhOreo2012 59 points60 points ago

Hey, Nike shirts are pretty nice quality and don't look bad. It's not hard to find them for like $15. Don't judge me for being FABULOUS

[–]mnirem 20 points21 points ago

Can't blame a man for wanting to break free.

[–]brazilish 223 points224 points ago

Gasp Wouldn't want an entity as important as reddit, with meetups like the Baltimore one, judging the way I look.

[–]meliaesc 116 points117 points ago

We vowed never to speak of that!

[–]Battletooth 48 points49 points ago

Now that it's been spoken of, can anyone tell me what happened there? I hope it was sex. Or playing Scrabble. Or both.

[–]Jokrmein 62 points63 points ago

A topless photo filled with a bunch of redditors. You do the math.

[–]ChagSC 80 points81 points ago

Bitch tits. Bitch tits everywhere.

[–]Jokrmein 104 points105 points ago

Yes, most redditors are fat. Which is funny, because of how much Reddit hates fat people.

[–]samplesizeme 81 points82 points ago

Makes sense - poor self-esteem and self-loathing.

[–]ElGoddamnDorado 47 points48 points ago

Or there's actually people here who aren't fat.

[–]TheAntZ 22 points23 points ago

Yeah, the skinny little milquetoasts.

[–]Spyrex 18 points19 points ago

We should take a poll to figure out the average weight.

EDIT: out not our

[–]ChubbyGirlsPmMe 15 points16 points ago

I'm beyond fat, so that gives me reason to hate fat people.

[–]Battletooth 7 points8 points ago

So I was right? It was Scrabble?

[–]Weezyfb 11 points12 points ago

[–]ChickinSammich 23 points24 points ago

Baltimore Redditor; didn't go to meetup. What'd I miss?

[–]DJ_Osama_Spin_Laden 58 points59 points ago

This. NSFW

[–]rory_guy 94 points95 points ago

TIL Redditors aren't the sexy heroes I'd imagined.

[–]Zcrash 43 points44 points ago

and the one's that are have common sense

[–]StarkOne 40 points41 points ago

The 3 hottest females there were not topless, one wasnt even paying attention

[–]br00t 35 points36 points ago

hahaha, why are they at a self storage facility?

[–]LiterallyKesha 10 points11 points ago

For good luck.

[–]DattNigg 7 points8 points ago

because Baltimore.

[–]tannersnotreal 49 points50 points ago

That girl on the right...desperately wanting to leave...

[–]redgroupclan 23 points24 points ago

The guy in the middle...he is the neckbeard every other neckbeard is based off of.

[–]bellatron 16 points17 points ago

The alphabeard.

[–]muNICU 10 points11 points ago

And that guy on the left eating cereal not giving a fuck.

[–]Sheen-o 18 points19 points ago

[–]p00p00train 7 points8 points ago

love that saggy tit sitting on the cute asian's shoulder

[–]brazilish 30 points31 points ago

[–]ChickinSammich 29 points30 points ago

Looks like a good time was had.

[–]bootnish 6 points7 points ago

For a little while there, I thought you guys might just be trying to see how many people could fit in that pool.

[–]maddawg579 116 points117 points ago

Ha! Hahaha! The last fucking place I would turn to for approval is reddit. I like the site and its content, but the commenters are some of the most immature, judgmental, holier-than-thou people on the internet.

EDIT: My mistake, I didn't mean all commenters. I should've said "but a lot of the commenters..."

[–]HellsGuardian 9 points10 points ago

Oh god, so meta. and now even more meta.

[–]FinitePhysics 12 points13 points ago

metametametametametametametametametametametametametametametameta

[–]E10DIN 16 points17 points ago

i really like flannel :(

[–]Kodyak 92 points93 points ago

I had just bought my OBEY cap and DMND Supply hoodie thinking I would be the pinnacle of style to my peers.. I'm sad to say now I need more CDB's and cardigans to be anywhere close to you amazing redditors ):

[–]dj_bizarro 117 points118 points ago

What are those things?

[–]So_Full_Of_Fail 62 points63 points ago

I have no idea.

[–]fuckyoubarry 43 points44 points ago

A cardigan is a type of sweater your grandpa wears, and a hoodie is a hooded sweatshirt.

[–]guy_lovejoy 20 points21 points ago

what is a sweatshirt?

[–]SkaterDrew 90 points91 points ago

A Sweatshirt is a hooded sweatshirt without a hood.

[–]Steam_Powered_Rocket 13 points14 points ago

Recursively defined clothing?

[–]poniesaregood 2 points3 points ago

A wild guy_lovejoy is spotted outside of /r/Christianity,

carry on good sir.

[–]So_Full_Of_Fail 17 points18 points ago

I had no idea(I googled) what Obey and DMND was.

[–]RetardedJedi 50 points51 points ago

Now you know that Obey and Diamond are popular clothing brands and that's why Reddit hates them and their customers.

[–]DownvotingRoman_ 61 points62 points ago

I think it's more the inherent contradiction of self-styled rebellious, anti-corporate youth conforming to a particular, often corporate produced, fashion style.

[–]occamsrazorburn 27 points28 points ago

The irony is palpable.

[–]br00t 16 points17 points ago

it's what college freshman wear.

[–]SkaterDrew 14 points15 points ago

Obey is brand, it has recently been taken over by every person ever because they're 'cool'...

DMND supply is a skate/street brand, In america people are probably cluster fucking it now but i'm british and not many people know what it is and those who do skate... that sounds hipsterish but you know what I mean for example DC went from skaters-> fucking every child and man.

I should probably admit i'm wearing a Diamond hoody right now.

I have no idea what a CDB is though.

[–]Steakers 8 points9 points ago

CDB means Clarks Desert Boots. They are the staple shoe of /r/malefashionadvice.

I think in America Clarks is called "Clarks of England" and is seen as a bit more fancy than we see it over here. Them boots are like 70 quid though, so maybe Clarks is a bit fancy over here too?

[–]StatusSC 5 points6 points ago

CDB are Clarks Desert Boots.

[–]JerichoBlack 19 points20 points ago

I really like my plaid shirts.

[–]Adarkox 3 points4 points ago

Hopefully they wouldn't let such a silly thing ruin their weeks.

[–]UsernameNotFound404 7 points8 points ago

[–]YOUR-UNCLE 4 points5 points ago

Reddit in a nutshell.

[–]Lion13 9 points10 points ago

I can't stress this enough. Thank you, kind sir for making this point. I love wearing hats and I find it fun to collect them! Put anytime I wear one in public ( specifically a SnapBack) I automatically judged. Up vote for you! :)

[–]MSpainting 2 points3 points ago

You would have to be retarded not to realize that this style is for living turds.

[–]Zack1018 1161 points1162 points ago

I laughed so hard at this I dropped my iPhone 5! Good thing the cord of my beats by dre stopped it from hitting the ground!

[–]SCOTT_MESCUDI 111 points112 points ago

Wow! You don't have the cordless one? what are you poor?

[–]danrennt98 213 points214 points ago

I know I almost crashed my Mercedes from laughing! Not that it matters, I'd just get a new one tomorrow anyway

[–]MarcusAuralius 181 points182 points ago

A whole day without one? UGHH!

[–]dragotron 59 points60 points ago

He'd just rent a Lamborghini for the rest of the day to make up for it.

[–]RockemSockemBrobots 53 points54 points ago

Why would he do that? I'm sure he has a couple of other mercedes lying around. I mean really, who buys just one mercedes at a time?

[–]Second_Foundationeer 28 points29 points ago

There's a discount if you buy 10 at a time, so really, you lose money if you don't buy at least 20!

[–]omgitspri 8 points9 points ago

Why not just buy the entire Mercedes dealership instead?

[–]PortRoyce 11 points12 points ago

Then some people might call me spoiled

[–]Trolly_McTrollerson 158 points159 points ago

UGH WHAT THE FUCK MOM AND DAD I WANTED A MERCEDES NOT AN ACURA FUCK YOU USELESS BITCH I HATE YOU

[–]forevercabron 11 points12 points ago

I'm afraid to ask, but this was one of those "Sweet 16" moments, wasn't it?

[–]LikeViolence 12 points13 points ago

It probably was but I feel like this is referencing the southpark episode when satan has a birthday party and wants a ferrari cake but get's an acura cake instead, which itself is a reference to "my super sweet sixteen"

[–]MapleSyrupIsAwesome 10 points11 points ago

I feel like it could also be a reference to God Bless America.

[–]Fucha 67 points68 points ago

I bought an 03' Kompressor by working my ass off full time for several years.

I want to punch people in the face when they call me spoiled.

[–]plasker6 52 points53 points ago

You should have said this in a four-panel tumblr pic. With heavy filtering.

[–]aron2295 2 points3 points ago

And swag. You need swag.

If your voice was a food, I'd have seconds

[–]Intolorent_Redneck 68 points69 points ago

If his voice was a food, It would be lobster.

[–]duncan12457 39 points40 points ago

if that food was tv, that would be my favorite episode.

[–]Sproutykins 21 points22 points ago

If his voice was porn... Oh wait, it is! I'm jacking off to it right now!

[–]MrT-1000 41 points42 points ago

Strange... my computer speakers seem to be oozing silk after experiencing the smoothness of that voice

[–]suicidemachine 16 points17 points ago

Dude, you should totally start working as a porn dubber. The world would be a better place.

[–]Trevmiester 15 points16 points ago

I prefer whynotbarbershop.

[–]Nipples_R_us 4 points5 points ago

[–]ShayWhitey 13 points14 points ago

Phil Hartman?! You.... You've been alive all this time?!

[–]GamerKT 18 points19 points ago

I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur!

[–]turdferguson135 10 points11 points ago

I want some fancy sauce.

[–]Mehverick 902 points903 points ago

Well... most middle class teenagers aren't exactly expected to be self-sufficient.

Don't mind me, I'm a lunatic.

[–]billyzero 468 points469 points ago

But I worked at this little pizza place when I was 16 and didn't need my parents money because the $100 earned each week totally covered all my needs. Why can't everyone be like me?
/s

[–]hcumberdale1 87 points88 points ago

I used to have an old BMW and got so sick of reading the online BMW forums.

"You're 17 and you have a 40,000 dollar car?"

"Yea, I have a good job and I saved up for it! My parents didn't buy it!"

"Where do you work?

"Uh, my dad's office."

[–]OVERFLOWINGANUS 22 points23 points ago

hahaha i remember those forums. one dude who was 17 and had a 80k bmw ended up crashing his car on an airport runway because he didnt know how to control his car

i think he died

[–]TheGreatDainius 20 points21 points ago

Hilarious!

[–]Orccen 280 points281 points ago

Not every 16+ can get a job and not every teenager is old enough to work.

[–]jama211 67 points68 points ago

Also, some peoples parents don't let them work, as they must focus on study.

[–]not_galactic_police 20 points21 points ago

That was my case, was in so many honors classes and extra curricular activities that I didn't think I could have time to get a job, although I felt worthless not having one. My parents said that making good grades was my job and that once I got into college I could start breaking from the teat and get into the workforce.

[–]youresofilthy 2 points3 points ago

My parents did this. It was great when I was 16. Now at 20, it's impossible for me to get a job because I have no "work experience".

[–]safe_plagiarism 11 points12 points ago

I'm not sure if you were making a joke, but I'll go ahead and try to clarify billyzero's comment, just in case. The "/s" means "end sarcasm." S/he was implying that even the teens that can get a job in no way could ever actually support themselves financially on the measly salaries teens can get in society.

[–]brown_man_bob 133 points134 points ago

Honestly, at least where I live, they say theyre happy to allow 14+ year old people to apply, but they never actually do. They stick with the extremely desperate 30+ year old unskilled employees.

[–]meliaesc 300 points301 points ago

A desperate 30 year old needs the money more than the 14 year old who wants more video games.

[–]BANANARCHY 292 points293 points ago

Uh, no. I need the new Madden.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]DisapprovingSeal 28 points29 points ago

I use a government-owned computer. I don't think I'm allowed to click that link.

[–]nehpets96 11 points12 points ago

Do it, pussy.

[–]filbert_bright 53 points54 points ago

Some jobs (like at pizza places) are meant for teenagers. They have just enough responsibility to help an unskilled teen learn what work is like. The 30 year old should be overqualified and looking for more appropriate work. I hate how our (US) society tries to pretend that every job should support a family.

[–]Lazy_I 63 points64 points ago

The job of a pizza place is to make pizza, not to train teenagers how the real world works. The people who are working there in their 30s aren't exactly overwhelmed with alternatives.

[–]Second_Foundationeer 4 points5 points ago

Umm, maybe the teenager getting rejected for a candidate who is more desperate and has a better work ethic IS training the the teenager about how the real world works.

[–]fido5150 79 points80 points ago

It's not that at all... just that if you commit 40 hours of your life, per week, to your employer, then you should actually be able to support yourself with what you earn.

I don't care if you're 17 or 70... this should be the bare minimum.

[–]The_SNL_Encyclopedia 27 points28 points ago

I'd like to point out that no 17 year old I know who has the motivation to work has the time to work 40 hours a week. I know this is not relevant to your comment, but I just thought I'd point it out.

[–]clairvoux 2 points3 points ago

I worked 40 hours a week during the three month summers and every break during school at a Wendy's when I was 17, plus 15 hrs on weekends during school. My family was poor and I wanted to go to college. I made the time.

[–]meliaesc 18 points19 points ago

Yes, learning about responsibility, workplace ethics, and money management is the purpose of a job for a 14 year old, but think about this from the employer's point of view, as after all that is who does the hiring. And what makes you think being 30 makes you "overqualified" for basic jobs in this economy? Not everybody has even a high school degree, and most of that demographic also works other jobs simultaneously.

[–]thelordofcheese 1 point2 points ago

Um, that's actually the exact OPPOSITE of the history of this nation.

ESPECIALLY the foreign food industry, which was mostly run by... um... foreigners. ADULT foreigners.

[–]Fraymond 9 points10 points ago

True, but lots of 14 year olds get jobs because their parents are trying to teach them work ethic. As a 22 year old who has had both parents on disability for his entire life, learning good work ethic does not come naturally.

[–]englad 2 points3 points ago

but the business can pay the 14 year old less for the same work

[–]LollyLewd 10 points11 points ago

Where I live it seems they are more eager to hire fresh, shiny new teenagers rather than the desperate 30 year olds. My dad works with youth and the majority of them have jobs while almost everyone I went to college with is unemployed and getting rejected from McDonald's.

[–]mcoree 16 points17 points ago

I'm 16 and i just got my first job after trying the whole summer

[–]Martino231 8 points9 points ago

Good on you man! I remember that feeling after weeks of searching.

[–]Cutts77 13 points14 points ago

Yes... weeks....

[–]12th-Doctor 38 points39 points ago

I'm 21, in my final year of uni and have never had a paying job. I try not to mooch off my parents and maybe buy new clothes once a year. I wish I were more like you.

[–]SirNoName 45 points46 points ago

Same. My parents finance me, pay my tuition / rent / food. I feel bad everytime I spend money on something superfluous.

[–]ehoke9 15 points16 points ago

This will be me next year. I feel really bad when I'm with friends who all have jobs and I just use my parents money to buy things.

[–]ShotMarvinInTheFace 38 points39 points ago

YEAH WE ARE REDDIT AND WE WERE PERFECT TEENAGERS WHY CANT ANYONE BE LIKE US YOUNG PEOPLE SUCK THINGS WERE PERFECT WHEN I WAS A KID EVERYTHING SUCKS NOW BECAUSE *insert very average cartoon that gets lots of praise * ISNT ON THE AIR /RANT LOL REDDIT.

[–]Wide-Eyed_Penguin 19 points20 points ago

because why wouldn't you spend the money your parents give you? I was given anything I could have wanted but I don't act like an entitled asshole, who gives a shit what you were given it's how you act that's important

[–]furyasd 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, me too man.

I had from Master System to Playstation 2 to a computer.

I had Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance SP, I had Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Ruby.

I had cellphones that cost 320$+ in 2000.

My parents paid my drivers license, which in Portugal cost 1000$+.

I had everything I wanted.

Now I'm 20, I haven't bought clothes in 4 years, my computer is 5 years old, and I have a cellphone that I upgraded from the cellphone my parents bought me in 2000.

Now, I can't buy those things due to some economy complications and what not.

I don't complain, I don't act like an entitled asshole, and I have my parents to thank for what they have done for me and gave me.

I just wish I could pay them back.

And it's so hard to find a job nowadays, fucking christ.

[–]chaospherezero 355 points356 points ago

ITT a bunch of Redditors who give far too much of a shit what other people wear.

[–]VinceViegel 229 points230 points ago

You expect teenagers to have enough money to live independently? If their parents let them buy shit, then let it happen. Who gives a shit?

[–]CastALittleCloser 137 points138 points ago

HOW DARE THEY HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITES THAN MEEEEEEEE

[–]Rikkushin 50 points51 points ago

OP seems to give

[–]thedirtysixthirty 12 points13 points ago

I SHALL NOT LET IT HAPPEN!

[–]tulriw9d 132 points133 points ago

If I was a parent, I would rather my kid get to be a kid than have to go out an earn their own money to buy the things they want. Doing well in school is far more important than working a part time job so I would rather they did that to be fair.

If they are shit in school and lazy then they can't have anything but I think that's how it generally works anyway right?

[–]MoeVsWORLD 47 points48 points ago

Good luck getting achieving a 90%+ grade point with a part time job stressing you out. It's not impossible, but the money earned just isn't worth it.

[–]lolyouidiot 7 points8 points ago

This is why I wish more states would set up Youth Apprenticeship Programs like Wisconsin. I was able to take a class in biotechnology for 4 hours a week and through it got me a job working in a plant pathology lab for a little over a year and a half during my senior year of HS and freshman year of college. Worked around 15 - 20 hours a week and took regular classes + the 4 hour classes and then in the summer I was able to do a full 40 hours.

That's the kind of work we need today's youth to be doing. More opportunities to get into the kind of work they want to do. Not worrying about whether they'll have to work at McDonalds 20 hours+ a week while trying to keep a high enough GPA to get them into college.

[–]CatLoverForeverAlone 8 points9 points ago

My mother had the exact same philosophy. As long as I did well in school, she would cover my expenses. As soon as I got out of high school, I got a job, and started going to college. She no longer covered any expenses except food, and an occasional gift of gas money. I don't have any problem with it.

I would have had a problem with it if she had not taught me anything about money, and how to spend it. (insurance, taxes)

I honestly don't know why people would be angry at someone who did this... Unless their child is failing school... and is a lazy twat.

[–]So_Full_Of_Fail 24 points25 points ago

There's a lot to be said for knowing the value of money before adulthood. Manual labor summer jobs were good for that.

[–]bultonic 15 points16 points ago

I'd like to think there can be a middle ground. Teach children the value of money and good work ethic, teach children to appreciate what it takes to earn things, but still spend some money to make them happy and help them enjoy life a much as they can.

[–]tulriw9d 28 points29 points ago

If we're talking a summer job here and there then fine, but I wouldn't want to make my kids work and go to school when they should be being kids and having fun.

[–]billyzero 211 points212 points ago

That's what their parents earn money for. Why should you care what others do with their own money?

[–]Joosebawkz 17 points18 points ago

Alright, I am 16 yo kid growing up in a wealthy city going to a school full of wealthy kids and my parents are pretty wealthy. I dress nice, I like to buy nice clothes, wearing nice clothes just makes you feel great I don't know how to explain it.

I don't think op is mad at people who wear good clothes though. He is mad, and I agree with him 100%, about the people who buy rediculously overpriced shit (I could be making this up cause I have never worn nor seen any Obey or DMND clothes at a store) then take a picture of themselves on instagram or upload it to tumblr and brag about "their" swag. When I saw the meme it more reminded me of the kids that have every LVxKW sneaker and buy clothes so that people know they're rich and not because they're nice looking. These kids are assholes who are normally failing out of school and think they are going to be rich their entire lives. Although without expensive clothes these kids would literally be nothing so atleast they're lucky enough to grow up wealthy.

[–]Icantevenhavemyname 33 points34 points ago

The irony in this post as well as in many of these comments is that most of Reddit is constantly ablaze about the 99% and wealth inequality. Yet when someone, knowingly or not, says something so intelligent as "Why should you care what others do with their own money?" turns into something that is now acceptable and worthy of upvotes. I wish people could apply that same logic towards wealth envy in their politics. Hating ones neighbor for having more toys than you is a terrible mindset for a community.

[–]The_Full_Retard 6 points7 points ago

Wealth inequality and having money are 2 different things. My Dad is pretty successful and worked his ass off for it. Nearly 70 and still working. He is still not 1% but has more than enough to not have a mortgage, travel if he wants and get some items I'd he pleases. The problem with the 1% isn't that they have a lot of money, it's that they are willing to influence others to make more money for them at the expense of the middle class.

[–]NorthernWV 24 points25 points ago

I think it has to do with what people believe to be ethical. A doctor who makes a mil a year and buys his daughter a sports car I dont think many people will have a problem with. A guy like "Papa John" whose company is a billion dollar company, yet wants to eliminate minimum wage, pay his employees shit, duck taxes and is only worried about his profits instead of the well being of his employees rubs people the wrong way.

[–]Anon090 91 points92 points ago

I'm confused. Anyone else ? Whats the issue here with this ?

[–]WhyYouThinkThat 220 points221 points ago

OP is angry his family doesn't have as much money as other families. Is Jealous.

[–][deleted] 60 points61 points ago

Thats ok... he can use it as justification to pirate media.

[–]butteryT 24 points25 points ago

You need justification for that? ......

[–]sundbergftw 34 points35 points ago

well, my justification is that is free.

[–]wanderer11 12 points13 points ago

My justification is I can't wait a year to watch Breaking Bad.

[–]Quantenhorst 7 points8 points ago

As a German: OH GOD YES!

[–]DJWalnut 2 points3 points ago

clueless recording industry exec:

doesn't release Breaking Bad in Germany

wonders why people pirate it instead

[–]Tocool 403 points404 points ago

Jealous. The word you are looking for is jealous.

[–]NowThatsJuicy99 134 points135 points ago

Yeah, seriously. Sorry I'm not poor.

[–]Cool_Wall 85 points86 points ago

Considering most people on reddit are relatively priviliged it's always fun to see how jealous most of them can be.

And I am aware I'm generalizing now, but this is the impression I get from people on this site. If you come from a wealthier family or the upper class you're automatically a douchebag.

[–]Vessix 42 points43 points ago

From my perspective as a poor man who never had a whole lot as a kid and had to pay through school on financial aid awards and loans:

The majority of the wealthier kids I've been around are extraordinarily arrogant with a hugely false sense of entitlement. This attitude has them ostracizing and ridiculing poorer people for not having been given the fancy clothes, phones, and cars that they have solely because of their parents. I kid you not, I had a rich girl in one of my classes act like she was going to gag the moment she found out I wore the same overshirt 2, sometimes 3 times a week. I am not unattractive or overweight. I shower regularly and brush my teeth. She was "gagging" at the thought of me re-wearing the same few sets of clothes throughout an entire semester.

This is the same experience most "less-privileged" redditors have with wealthier people, because with reddit we're talking about mainly college-age.

The wealthy people always put it off with claims like "you're just jealous", which only fuels us to hate their egotistical attitudes even more. I will say I've met exceptions though- rich kids who dislike other rich kids since most of them have this "my parents are rich so I'm better than you" attitude, because their parents actually raised them better than that. In my experience people like that are too few and far between.

I tend to get offended by these generalizations because I was somewhat priveledged in high school and college, but the sad thing is: you're right. Far too many people are arrogant over their parents' accomplishments. I actually broke up with an ex-girlfriend for laughing at another kid's car. (She was 16 and driving an Audi her parents bought for her.)

I was privileged, but I never felt superior for it; rather, I felt somewhat guilty for having it easier than friends of mine.

[–]sagex90 2 points3 points ago

My family isn't poor, though I'm personally broke as shit, I still hate having to use any of my parents money.

while I don't agree with the OP, I've always found it odd when people said they can't work, unless it involved copious amounts of school work (over 18 credits) or they're not getting paid for their internship (like me :()

I may have been brought up privileged but I don't take that for granted.

[–]Im_smarter_than_you 2 points3 points ago

This isn't mocking the parents, it's mocking entitled kids.

[–]_47_ 60 points61 points ago

Hey man, as soon as you're ready to hand me a job out of the magic job machine you have, I'll work for my own money. Don't keep me too long.

[–]nobitchingatreposts 17 points18 points ago

Wanna borrow my job cannon?

[–]poetker 16 points17 points ago

Honestly, I wish my parents didn't buy me everything I wanted when I was a kid. The day i turned 18 they stopped completely, seriously, up till the day i turned 18 all I had to do was just ask and they would give me whatever.

That completely fucked me over in life. I had no concept of money, at all. For all I knew it grew on trees, I just knew it was supplied when I asked for it. If I ever have kids, they will be getting jobs when they turn 16 and they will get allowances before that for doing chores.

I see value in a person making their own money, even as a child. I wish my parents had given me an allowance, I wish they made me get a job when I was 16. Then maybe I could have avoided the complete shock that came when the money tree just stopped.

[–]JingoZaa 10 points11 points ago

It's kinda hard to find work when you're 13.

[–]CrimsonLoyalty 4 points5 points ago

As a Best Buy employee, I agree.

[–]caschta 3 points4 points ago

It's not about what they have, but how they deal with it.

They have no idea what money is actually worth. If you tell them, that product xy is good, but totally overprized, they just don't get it, and pretend that product xy is the best in every way.

[–]lalijosh 6 points7 points ago

Our society's real problem: "Shut up and take my children's money"

[–]Not_A_Triceratops 25 points26 points ago

What if I told you

that it isn't fair to hold minor teenagers to the same standards that you hold self sufficient adults.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

OP didn't say teenagers

[–]Bdub123 6 points7 points ago

as a spoiled rich kid i am very offended

[–]Whatdafuuuuk 42 points43 points ago

People who complain abour kids with rich parents are even worse.

[–]youngchul 3 points4 points ago

And the people who just assume that kids with stuff like expensive clothes, computers etc. just gets their money from their parents, when some of them actually worked for it.

[–]Tony_fe 23 points24 points ago

SO BRAVE

Edit: Legitimately thought this was /r/circlejerk. Welp.

[–]ToastyRaichu 2 points3 points ago

It happens to the bravest of us, don't feel bad

[–]Nagus_Maximus420 23 points24 points ago

Don't be bitter because their parents can afford to help them out.

[–]DifficultApple 3 points4 points ago

Parents giving kids money is a good thing. My parents gave me money, but their parents gave them money as well. In the future when I have kids, I will be giving them money. It makes more sense that the older person who makes good money to pay it forward to the young generation that doesn't yet have the opportunity.

[–]Jamesvozzi 2 points3 points ago

A 9gager showed this to me in class a week ago. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

[–]youshouldbereading 6 points7 points ago

I feel your pain. I went into a Urban Outfitters yesterday, just to see. Who in the hell pays that much money to look like they went shopping at a thrift store?!

[–]vivifortunia 14 points15 points ago

I'm a teacher at a private school. You have no idea.

[–]sprrd 8 points9 points ago

You are sick of people injecting capital into the economy?

[–]i_like_pretty_girls 9 points10 points ago

Gotta love how this has developed into an anti-non-priviledged people circlejerk.

[–]technokitty 20 points21 points ago

My parents never gave me money. I made mine the old fashioned way, doing other peoples homework.

[–]creammytaco 50 points51 points ago

OP you fucking faggot this was on /b/

[–]Choppa790 17 points18 points ago

I love that picture.

[–]Fixdgear 4 points5 points ago

It was also posted on 9gag like a week ago as well.

9gag. I don't give a shit.

[–]PEEETREEEe 3 points4 points ago

I tried to make this my capital one card background and I got declined :(

[–]donaldrobertsoniii 16 points17 points ago

So much rich-kid apologist butthurt in this thread.

[–]gibletsandsyrup 13 points14 points ago

Yeah, too many Redditors saw themselves in this one.

[–]chriztoph3 2 points3 points ago

We all owe most everything to our parents and our forefathers. Only be pissed off at people that pride themselves on having rich parents or being independant.

[–]fsck_karma 2 points3 points ago

The only obey piece I have worn I found somewhere (I don't remember where, I didn't buy it, fuck no) and it was ripped open from the collar to the left about half way to the shoulder. I never washed it.

Someone gave me shit for wearing it once and I was all confused because I thought it was just some shirt with a random logo on it like No FEAR or something. It had this cobra thing on it. Kinda cool looking, really.

I guess moral of the story is designer clothes end up in the trash or on the ground and then I wear them.

[–]nosciencehere 2 points3 points ago

I thought your post was funny until I saw your horrible title

[–]alexmichael_asshole 2 points3 points ago

This will probably get burried.. but I agree with OP. why? Because I see this way too much. I come from an area of arizona where there are a lot of Mexicans and everyone tend to knows who's illegally here. Well, from what I've seen from kids at school and people I know, "obey swagkillazx" Doesn't work, but has the nerve to be on facebook all day talkin about partying, Smoking weed, fuck bitches, 'snitch niggaz that's that shit he don't like', and he's wearing at least a few hundred dollars in clothing... Now I'm all for parents taking care of their kids, its cool, its loving. But its bullshit when obey swagkillazx is legal, healthy, and is ABLE to work but doesn't, And his illegal immigrant father is out in the arizona heat busting His ass every goddamn day being a day labour to provide for a family.

Idk that's just my feeling on it. Edit: grammar, punctuation.

[–]princetrunks 2 points3 points ago

This. I've been engaged with my fiancee for 5 years (dating for 10) because, unlike our friends who get paid by mommy and daddy here on Long Island… we have to fend for ourselves and don't have an extra $15K hanging around for even the most simplest (yet overprice) wedding. "Why aren't you married yet?" they'd say. Sorry, we don't have a blank check ready to go so we can spam our Facebook feed with wedding and baby photos.

[–]Accipehoc 2 points3 points ago

Haha, now that looks pretty accurate.

[–]SANDYSQUID 2 points3 points ago

Saw a 15 y/o kid at the gas station yesterday. He pulled up in a 2012 Camaro., all decked out. I said, "Hey, your dad has a nice car." Without thinking he just said, "Thanks."
