Tell me about the rabbits, George.

[–]Sockpockets 92 points93 points ago

IF THOSE CATS TOUCH MY RABBITS, I BREAK THEIR GOD DAMNED NECKS GEORGE.

[–]_sorry_ 35 points36 points ago

i'll smash those cats! i'll smash them with a stick!

[–]Forhavu 35 points36 points ago

Ain't you gonna give me hell George?

[–]Prejudicial 21 points22 points ago

Oh the days of GCSE English.

[–]DogBacon 131 points132 points ago

Oh god no, NO. :(

[–]PlausibleExplanation 99 points100 points ago

BANG!

[–]dafragsta 66 points67 points ago

Wow... a pretty concise summary of Of Mice and Men in less than 3 comments.

[–]skyman724 4 points5 points ago

super fucking slow clap

[–]gepeupel 4 points5 points ago

Man.. I thought your username was plausible explosion so the BANG was great .. I fail at reading, I'm sorry.

[–]Forhavu -3 points-2 points ago

We literally just finished reading this in my English class two days ago. Very good book, Mice and Men. I recommend it to everyone.

The subtlety of the themes and deeper metaphors for the rabbits is extraordinary

[–]nerfdude 72 points73 points ago

Fun fact: the only people you can recommend Of Mice and Men to are high school dropouts or 12

[–]QueasyDolphin 25 points26 points ago

I am in college. I have never read Of Mice and Men. It was not required reading in high school.

[–]nickdngr 5 points6 points ago

I have a degree in literature and the only time I read Steinbeck was in high school. As far as a reflection of US lives (general themes), he's OK at best, but regarding actual literature, there are much better authors (IMO) of the same era -- Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Faulkner, etc.

But, that's just, like, my opinion man. I've run across my fair share of people who think he is the epitome of American authors, so to each their own.

[–]HoopyFreud 6 points7 points ago

Here's something that I usually bring up in these discussions, and I want your opinion on it: What about Twain? He might not have as much to say as Hemingway or Fitzgerald, but the themes and tone of his writing seem quintessentially American to me.

[–]nickdngr 5 points6 points ago

I love love love love love Twain. This is completely biased, so bear with me. Twain has this way of turning a phrase -- and that's really what good writing comes down to -- and his writing really feels like the start of the American fiction movement. When I think of Americana and folk-writing, I always start with him. I think he captured that slice of society (in very humorous fashions) that were overlooked to a certain point and wrote about them in ways that were completely approachable by anyone literate. The other thing I love about Twain are his quotes: he was just a witty guy.

[–]Asks_Politely 6 points7 points ago

Or, you know, just to anyone because you enjoyed the book?

[–]owned2260 2 points3 points ago

Chances are the person you're recommending it to has already read it.

[–]Icantevenhavemyname 4 points5 points ago

I'm 35 and I still see parallels to it in my daily life. You get my upvote.

But if you want to have fun like the other folks are and laugh at a great Lennie character then watch the Hollywood adaptation starring John Malkovich and Gary Sinise from 1992. It makes the next time you read the book funnier thanks to Malkovich.

[–]EJ88 23 points24 points ago

We gonna live of the fat of the land?

[–]aaronheck 7 points8 points ago

and i get to tend the alfalfa!

[–]frader12 2 points3 points ago

Goddammit. Instantly recognized this quote 7 years after having read the book.

[–]Friend_of_owlybeats 709 points710 points ago

Definitly Manchester. That guys is a legend, whatever the weather, topless on his skateboard with his bunnies.

[–]turkboy 131 points132 points ago

Manchester dweller here, I didn't realise that guy was still around!

[–]butlersrevenge 77 points78 points ago

I once watched him threaten (another?) a homeless guy with his skateboard outside of the Night and Day. He had to put his bunny down and then picked it up again when the other guy fucked off.

[–]Randyh524 56 points57 points ago

Put the bunny down...

[–]GreyReanimator 14 points15 points ago

i read that in nick cages voice

[–]Klarthy 2 points3 points ago

[–]_THE_WIFE 5 points6 points ago

As an American I knew this was in England when I saw Piccadilly, also, double-decker.

[–]IT_Derp 17 points18 points ago

Well this is Piccadilly Gardens which is in Manchester. Manchester is very far away from the Piccadilly you are thinking about.

[–]daielquon 6 points7 points ago

This is exactly the kind of shit I expect to see in Piccadilly Gardens on a Saturday night. Along with Crazy Bus Lady accusing a Magic bus driver of starting the war in Iraq.

[–]Zeppelanoid 19 points20 points ago

Doesn't matter; still England.

[–]Heads-Will-Roll 57 points58 points ago

I had no idea he was still around either. He only had one bunny when I last saw him 3 years ago. I always assumed the bunny died and he died with it. I'm so happy right now.

[–]tinyshadow 30 points31 points ago

Your version of events sounds tragically romantic!

[–]waitfor 40 points41 points ago

I've lived in Manchester for years and I've never seen him! Has he replaced the woman who comes on to the buses by the universities and hands out propaganda leaflets? She's far more suspiciously crazy than this guy seems...

[–]Greg_T_24 17 points18 points ago

I've literally just seen crazy bus lady. Like 15 minutes ago. Fun fact: My first proper time taking ecstasy was sat on a magic bus whereupon crazy bus lady sat opposite me and chatted total shit for a full 30 minutes. My young drug-addled mind found her just as incomprehensible. I then predictably went to Sanky's and danced on a speaker for 10 hours.

[–]waitfor 2 points3 points ago

I know exactly the spot you mean! Where the poles are? Me and my mates always stand there and end up practically deaf and scared of the light when we leave in the morning!

[–]Boatus 12 points13 points ago

Crazy bus lady! I've moved from Manchester and she definitely comes up in conversations regularly. Man I miss that place.

[–]Powderham 8 points9 points ago

I'm in my third year of uni at manchester and I'll miss crazy bus lady too!

[–]DedushkaGipnoz 2 points3 points ago

How small is Manchester?!?!

[–]Xiol 13 points14 points ago

It's not that Manchester is small, it's just that crazy people cover a lot of ground.

[–]Poddster 4 points5 points ago

The oxford road bus route shuttles thousands of students a day from one end of manchester to the other. It's often quoted as the busiest bus route in europe. When these nutters get on and off all day, you get used to seeing them.

[–]MachiniOs 6 points7 points ago

She was here at freshers. It was hilarious watching the freshmens faces. They had no clue.

[–]ewar-woowar 8 points9 points ago

I remember my first encounter with her, she got on a packed bus as we went back up to campus after fireworks at platt feilds. She's standing there doing her thang and a dude at the back goes "'Ere! theres a free seat back here!" right next to his mate. Dude gave him such a bad death stare as she sat there talking at him.

[–]mikemaca 5 points6 points ago

Thanks, that's very interesting.

Some guys also got her to do a radio interview about her life and personal history which is pretty interesting. She's not very crazy, just angry about losing custody of her kids.

[–]martynmc 6 points7 points ago

No she's definitely still around! I see her in the bus shelters along Oxford Road with loads of bags cutting up pieces of paper...

[–]ch1quaymunkey 2 points3 points ago

Sounds suspiciously like the Botley Bag Lady of Oxford.

[–]noblette 3 points4 points ago

When Magic Bus/Stagecoach bought out all the other bus companies on the Oxford Rd route (50p Bullock, anyone?), they banned her from getting on. A year ago she was still regularly hanging out by the precinct bus stops.

There was a new Canadian homeless guy on the Chorlton routes with increasingly tall tales about his daughter being in hospital and needing insurance money, though. "Hello everybody, I'm not proud to ask you this, but..." on the top deck.

Edit: hangover words hard

[–]camarillobrilloeowyn 2 points3 points ago

And UK North. We always joked they were death traps and then they killed someone and got banned from the roads. No more fares down Oxford Road for less than a quid. Sad times.

[–]wrongrrabbit 2 points3 points ago

she preys on the students, have you ever read her stuff? Its genuinely insane. She lives down my mrs' road now, poor girl.

[–]Azayaz 281 points282 points ago

[–]ajanitsunami 49 points50 points ago

The problem with this website is that you need to know how to spell definitely in order to find it!

[–]elizzybeth 13 points14 points ago

But see, the website isn't for people who don't know how to spell the word. It's for people who do know how to spell it and want to condescendingly correct other people.

[–]arachnyd52 13 points14 points ago

The domain probably ought to be any one of the misspellings instead...

[–]JoelioDaKing 28 points29 points ago

The way I got it stuck in my head was the "finite". I only get annoyed when people spell it as "defiantly".. completely different word!

[–]Lionzlove 77 points78 points ago

This was actually really helpful, thanks!

[–]filmfiend999 54 points55 points ago

Much more /aww than /wtf.

[–]coughcough 54 points55 points ago

[–]superextreme 25 points26 points ago

Of course that exists.

[–]sandstorm810 3 points4 points ago

Wow, this was exactly what I was expecting.

[–]ElRed_ 6 points7 points ago

It's finite with a de in front; Ly at the end etc.

[–]kittylauncher 12 points13 points ago

Definitely is a weird word...

[–]andytuba 19 points20 points ago

define. definite/indefinite. definitely.

it's just pronounced lazily in English, so people spell it wrong.

[–]tasteslikesugar 2 points3 points ago

When I was younger I used to remember it by telling myself it was to 'define' something 'finite'. And look! No A's :p

[–]kittylauncher 7 points8 points ago

...definefinite?

[–]tasteslikesugar 24 points25 points ago

This reminds me of a girl I knew back in 5th grade. Sucked at spelling, couldn't remember the whole i before e rule and stuff. One of her spelling words was 'believe' which she kept spelling 'beleive'. Tried to help her out by telling her to remember 'never beLIEve a lie'. Stupid bitch wrote 'belielie' on her spelling test damnit.

[–]radaeron 10 points11 points ago

Belielieble story. Would read again.

[–]necrambo 2 points3 points ago

thats funny, when i see campaign posters with 'believe' on them, i say it in my head as 'be-lie-ve.'

its actually marilyn manson's fault, he had a tshirt like that back in the 90's.

woo found it

[–]tasteslikesugar 2 points3 points ago

Awww that's so sweet of him to try and help problem spellers en masse like that :)

[–]miko0007 20 points21 points ago

As soon as i saw Piccadilly I knew it had to be home.

[–]tbolt871 16 points17 points ago

How does he carry them when he's riding? One in each hand?

[–]Aschebescher 37 points38 points ago

The bunnies have their own boards.

[–]Asks_Politely 27 points28 points ago

I know this was a joke, but I wish it were true.

[–]ChrissMari 5 points6 points ago

I was going to say. MANCHESTER!!!!!

I haven't been back to Manchester in like 3 years and I recognize that guy!

[–]TheMightyBarabajagal 6 points7 points ago

My initial reaction was "hey that looks like the LA metro" but then I saw the stairs and assumed it was England. Does any other country have tricked out doubledouble busses like you brits? Can we have some? EDIT: Please?

[–]The_Weary_Pilgrim 14 points15 points ago

They are referred to as doubledecker buses.

[–]narrowstairs 2 points3 points ago

I've seen a few in British Columbia (West coast Canada)!

[–]STOP_BEING_RETARDED 5 points6 points ago

That'll be the blue and orange of the famously shite Stagecoach bus service. You really don't want them in your country...

[–]princessshortsleeves 5 points6 points ago

I was sat on Picadilly Gardens on the grass once and this guy came over, pulled out a bag of bird seed, ripped the bag open and proceeded to walk around me and a few other people sat around, in a circle and then ran off. For anyone that doesn't know, Picadilly Gardens is always full of pigeons...

That guy was a dick :'(

[–]Hooze 1 point2 points ago

I'm from the USA. Only flown in and out of Manchester one trip (immediately took the train to Liverpool). I guessed it was Manchester from the Picadilly sign in the background.

[–]stephendy 7 points8 points ago

[–]JGumb 3 points4 points ago

Much like Ghost Hunters, they don't find the Rabbit Man. Save yourself the 3 minutes.

[–]Lord_Gibbons 2 points3 points ago

Seven years in Manchester and I've never seen him :-/

I feel like I'm missing out.

[–]jakethesnake_ 1 point2 points ago

Shit crazy bus lady is going to have to step up her game!

[–]NapalmBBQ 124 points125 points ago

Got my mind on my bunnies and my bunnies on my mind

[–]Karl_Marx_ 7 points8 points ago

More bunny, more problems.

[–]leon_kaufman 35 points36 points ago

This seems much more aww than WTF to me, to be honest.

[–]Nacho4 4 points5 points ago

[–]dagfari 24 points25 points ago

How is he so sad when he has two bunnies? :C

[–]WyldeKat 52 points53 points ago

He used to have three...

[–]confused_boner 12 points13 points ago

A mans gotta eat...

Happy Cakeday!

[–]CraftyWilby 45 points46 points ago

"And I will love them and pet them and squeeeeeze them." Can't really tell if he's making an "aww" face or a "I used to have a little friend, but he don't move no more." face.

[–]toadwarrior 81 points82 points ago

I'm not sure what is wtf about a guy taking his rabbits home.

[–]Black_Apalachi 32 points33 points ago

Maybe this is a normal scene on a NYC subway, but I could barely believe this was the UK at all, nevermind just about 40 miles away from me.

[–]No_bacon 23 points24 points ago

Just go to Manchester and ride up and down the Oxford Road a few times... Then you'll see. Oh, you'll see.

[–]systemid2000 1 point2 points ago

do you see? do you see?

[–]Buddyinthecity 26 points27 points ago

Awwwwww

[–]wrongrrabbit 9 points10 points ago

My housemate keeps telling me about him, never believed him until now!

On another note have you met bag lady or reggae bike guy?

Manchester is awesome.

[–]Mack488 7 points8 points ago

BITCHES DON'T KNOW ABOUT MY BUNNIES!

[–]Maewen 7 points8 points ago

This beats the guy I saw cradling bananas like it was a baby and singing to them on the 192

[–]retiredliontamer 13 points14 points ago

nightbus. the transport of kings.

[–]no_filler 20 points21 points ago

Holy fuck, are those things stairs? You have double decker buses?!

[–]BucketsMcGaughey 18 points19 points ago

Entirely normal in the UK. Double deckers are the business.

[–]teafaceisming 11 points12 points ago

if you think that's impressive, germany has double decker trains.

[–]Heads-Will-Roll 4 points5 points ago

So does Holland. Double decker buses are slightly more dangerous and amusing though.

[–]teafaceisming 6 points7 points ago

Well I'm from the UK so I guess double decker buses are normalised for me and a double decker train really surprised me.

I don't know about them being that dangerous though as they are mostly used away from dual carriageways and motorways so they don't often go much over 50 mph. I guess it depends on the drivers though, our school bus toppled over into a ditch on the way home once, but no one was hurt.

[–]IT_Derp 5 points6 points ago

The UK has tried to get double-decker trains too, the issue is that most of the rail infrastructure was built int he Victorian times. So the viaducts and tunnels aren't big enough...

[–]MotherFuckinMontana 3 points4 points ago

so does the USA

[–]ChrissMari 23 points24 points ago

yup! welcome to the UK.

[–]systemid2000 4 points5 points ago

have you ever been on the internet? Or seen any british television?

[–]glitteryliza 1 point2 points ago

Chhhu yea and they are awesome . .... Unless you sit upstairs when they go around corners bit tippy

[–]richardjohn 7 points8 points ago

Sitting at the front upstairs is the best seat! You can pretend to drive the bus!

[–]glitteryliza 2 points3 points ago

Forgot about that. yea top right seat. Coming home from a night out "don't worry guys ill drive "

[–]Ben77mc 4 points5 points ago

MANCHESTER, NA NA NA. MANCHESTER NA NA NA

[–]27percent 4 points5 points ago

That is more then likely my lower legs and beaten pair of red converse walking up the stairs. I'll be signing photos of said lower legs and converse tomorrow afternoon at around 2:30, please form an orderly queue...

[–]foggsville 7 points8 points ago

This guy has been walking around Manchester for years! Usually has a skateboard with him too. I'll never forget the day he asked me to hold my hand out and then handed me a vibrator....switched on.

[–]Scumbag_Username 3 points4 points ago

That bunny sitting on his leg looks really sad that the man is eating his carrot :(

[–]whambo666 4 points5 points ago

What is this 'Piccadilly Semen' place in the background?!

[–]TalcumPowderedBalls 5 points6 points ago

Manchester represent!

[–]flibblesan 5 points6 points ago

have an upvote our kid

[–]hardyos 6 points7 points ago

Being an American I expected a much dirtier bus, wow I didn't know public transportation could be so clean...

[–]manonion83 10 points11 points ago

Was this in Manchester!? I recognise that amusement arcade.

[–]Heads-Will-Roll 32 points33 points ago

If you don't also recognise the black dude with the white bunnies you are not truly from Manchester. Go forth, find him and return a man(cunian).

[–]partysnatcher 4 points5 points ago

Defiantly.

[–]Perma 1 point2 points ago

I wish our buses had stairs.

[–]boatie 2 points3 points ago

Ex-Manchester redditor reporting in. Got real excited to see this when I was (edit: Wasn't) expecting it.

Love u manchester

[–]splicerkitty 2 points3 points ago

Ah manchester :')

[–]NomNomPho 1 point2 points ago

I'm guessing most redditors on this post are from Manchester?

[–]thosegasprices 3 points4 points ago

Troy!

[–]reagan2016 2 points3 points ago

That guy is tripping so hard, everyone around him is hallucinating.

[–]Karmakerosene 2 points3 points ago

As weird as this is, I couldn't help but think, "Aww,".

[–]ad85 6 points7 points ago

God damnit. I came here thinking "YES, I KNOW OF THIS GUY, HE IS FROM MY CITY, I MUST TELL THE PEOPLE!"

...then I see about a hundred people beat me to it. There goes my sweet, sweet karma. Fuck you, fellow Mancunians.

[–]xrm4 4 points5 points ago

Donald Glover is also scared of rabbits?

[–]PillPill 2 points3 points ago

Tough night buddy?

[–]katarr 2 points3 points ago

It's just like Arizona all over again!

[–]Boatus 2 points3 points ago

Good old Manchester, it never fails us!

[–]frenchlitgeek 1 point2 points ago

His expression is so full of love for those little ones.

[–]xxllamacornxx 2 points3 points ago

To be honest I don't understand how this is in /r/WTF. I feel like this should be in /r/aww because I thought it was more adorable than I thought it was WTF material.

[–]axemonk667 2 points3 points ago

Childish Gambino doing research for his new album.

[–]Optimus_Jones 1 point2 points ago

Where is it that you live OP? Not sure if all the buses are the same for most cities but it looks like you're on the "deuce" in Las Vegas

[–]HonoraryMancunian 1 point2 points ago

You're about 5,000 miles out I'm afraid.

[–]Optimus_Jones 2 points3 points ago

Well damn.

[–]HonoraryMancunian 2 points3 points ago

WTF. It's freezing in Manchester at the moment. Tell him to put some clothes on.

[–]Carol_Channing 0 points1 point ago

I feel a tingling downstairs

[–]Yuukon 2 points3 points ago

This kind of belongs in r/aww.

[–]Karnas 0 points1 point ago

This guy is auditioning for the part of Lenny in the black remake of 'Of Mice and Men'.

Tyler Perry directing. Cuba Gooding, Jr. as George. John Witherspoon as Candy.

[–]lydz1985 1 point2 points ago

Ahhh we have a Manchester Redditor, this guy also pushes his rabbits round in prams on occasion.

[–]attractive_to_birds 4 points5 points ago

I imagine this guy probably works some dead-end job. Maybe the rabbits are used for some shitty magic act downtown and he takes care of them. Maybe the guy was having a bad night, had a few things taken from him. He has to drag those rabbits all the way back home on the bus - these creatures he raised by himself in a bad part of town. He places them down on a bus seat while everyone looks at him strangely. Someone pulls out their phone, avoiding eye contact in hopes their obvious attempt to take pictures of him isn't noticed. Tired, with a little humility, he smiles. These are creatures he's loved and worked hard for. He cares about them more than anyone else does. He thinks how funny he must look to everyone else, but he doesn't care. He's just as amused with everyone else as they are of him, but at least he is content in what he's done, and he's the only one who really knows why.

[–]angry_at_galatea 15 points16 points ago

Wait. You mean you found a video of a kid walking around talking about the rabbit man, but never actually features the rabbit man.

[–]Upward_Spiral 4 points5 points ago

I just wasted 3:14

[–]Marski 0 points1 point ago

Well he did say "about him", not "of him".

[–]borkborkbork99 4 points5 points ago

I cringed when I saw this. Leave the poor guy alone. He just enjoys taking his rabbits for a ride on the subway, shirtless, and wearing an expression of pure...agony.... Um...

Nevermind.

[–]TemporaryThrowAway3 16 points17 points ago

Subway? Its a bus mate.

[–]laikalost 1 point2 points ago

"Tell me about the bunnies again, George."

[–]Bowser88 0 points1 point ago

He like him some bunnies.

[–]imhereforthetacos 0 points1 point ago

[–]anordinaryperson 0 points1 point ago

Everyone's gotta be doing something

[–]hulkdaddy13 0 points1 point ago

How did he get them on there? No animals allowed.

[–]alshel711 1 point2 points ago

Bunnies need public transportation too.

[–]brannigansmaw 0 points1 point ago

Ah I thought he'd gone. Not seen him in a year or so now.

[–]Wolligepoes 0 points1 point ago

He did not like the idea of making a coat out of bunnies. So he made bunnies out of his coat.

[–]KidIkarus 0 points1 point ago

Tech N9ne has really let himself go.

[–]guns_jesus_america 0 points1 point ago

Tyrone always wanted himself some snow bunnies.

[–]StashDuff 0 points1 point ago

I call for bunnies to always be present in all vehicles. Who's going to drive recklessly with a bunny? NO ONE.

[–]eman462 0 points1 point ago

What kind of bus is that! In New York our busses are nothing compared to nice seats.

[–]CoffeeFox 0 points1 point ago

Those must be very calm, patient bunnies.

[–]ymmmas 1 point2 points ago

My girlfriend saw a guy passed out on the bus in Manchester today at 4pm. I think we have a thing for crazy bus people around here

[–]Karmey2 0 points1 point ago

Aw...wat.

[–]Powderham 0 points1 point ago

The big question is where's crazy bus lady?

[–]arachnyd52 0 points1 point ago

Least threatening crazy subway guy ever

[–]electricmonk9 0 points1 point ago

Come on kids! Do do DO do!

[–]vVvMaze 0 points1 point ago

[–]Dawboo 0 points1 point ago

There ain't no love in the heart of the city.

[–]rockdme 0 points1 point ago

Black guys and their snow bunnies

[–]deville94 0 points1 point ago

I believe it's Saul Williiams he's a poet.*

[–]Holostar 0 points1 point ago

Went into that Amusements the other day for a piss, only to be met by a very rude worker who told me the toilets were for 'patrons only'. I went up to the counter and said 'If I pay 10p for a machine, that qualifies me as a patron and then I can use the toilet'. The employee then asked me to leave the premesis.

[–]TheGoatMatrix 0 points1 point ago

This guy is a legend xD

[–]roose4 0 points1 point ago

saw this on tumblr 4 days ago...weird.

[–]macknows 0 points1 point ago

Can I tend the Wabbits George?

[–]vendiblebody 0 points1 point ago

What number bus was it? I'm guessing 85/86.

[–]chaklong 0 points1 point ago

[–]AverageBum 1 point2 points ago

Poor Tech N9ne.

[–]bbeatz1 0 points1 point ago

Pleasant change from the usual pictures of people doing disgusting things on the bus
