It looks like mange. It looks like the dogs that have generalized demodectic mange. So sad. Do animals ever come back from this, or is euthanizing the best option?

Also, I think my dog has fleas so I treated him with K9 Advantix today but I'm still paranoid he's going to wind up hairless and in pain.

While my dog didn't have it that badly she had persistenly for 6 months as a puppy. It eventually went away and her hair grew back might have been because I caught it early enough/she was a puppy though

My puppy had localized mange. I had to bather frequently with a special shampoo and apply ivermectin from time to time. She recover fine but has always had allergies that cause her feet to swell up red with pustules. I nearly put her to sleep because I could not see her suffer when she wanted to fetch so bad but did not because of the pain. THEN i was lucky to move 8 miles awy from the pinion pine forest. Now she is symptom free! However, I can never bring her to visit my parents hat live in that forest. Generalized mange like that is difficult to recover from. It takes maybe years of dedication from the owner.

      What kind of bear is it then? I thought there were only 3 types of bears, Black,Brown, and Polar, with many subspecies across the world, although the Polar Bear is very close to a Brown Bear.

      There are more than just those 3 main species. The American Black Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Sloth Bear, Spectacled Bear, Sun Bear, and Giant Panda Bear are the different species currently alive, with of course many subspecies to those.

      This isn't a shaved black bear, it's a sun bear with mange.
