Hate to agree with someone who resorts to name calling instead of tact, but to my knowledge (which I would say is definitely more extensive than most having written 2 undergraduate papers on Lincoln) this is true. He was anti-slavery because his father raised him baptist, and his father had taught him that slavery was a horrible sin. He may not have been as devout as the loony fundies we see these days, but he was a religious man. Though if I remember correctly he called himself "naturally anti-slavery" rather than saying "god thinks slavery is wrong and so do i" or anything so silly
