Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

YOU STOP THIS SHIT RIGHT NOW

[–]-TinMan- 4 points5 points ago

The problem is not the crab, it's the humans that keep getting in it's way.

[–]ctchicken[S] 5 points6 points ago

I heard they were good eatin's. At 40lbs that's delicious!

[–]incrediblemojo 2 points3 points ago

how do you catch it though? bash it in the head then scoop it up and prepare it?

[–]souporjoe 2 points3 points ago

Grab the sword off your wall and get ready for a showdown.

[–]Aperfectmoment 0 points1 point ago

boiling water....they scream though.

have you ever heard the screams of a crab?

[–]nvflip 2 points3 points ago

They don't scream. They don't have vocal chords. What you hear is the air escaping through their shell. Still pretty freaking creepy if you ask me.

[–]Aperfectmoment 0 points1 point ago

yeah makes me feel bad

[–]Triffer93 1 point2 points ago

Put them in 30 degree water for 10 mins, they fall asleep and don't feel any pain.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

i've boiled literally hundreds of lobsters/softshell/blue crabs.. they definitely don't scream.

[–]Aperfectmoment 0 points1 point ago

i'm heard crabs make noises with my own ears when boiled alive, nvflip who also replied reckons its air escaping the shell ...still creepy as fuck

[–]nikitakaganovich 1 point2 points ago

that's just a myth, the noise you hear sometimes is the shell contracting after the thing is already dead. It's not "screaming".

[–]dubdubdubdot 1 point2 points ago

Yeah the meat is really rich though, since they feed on coconut flesh the meat is like drenched in coconut milk.

[–]StratJax 1 point2 points ago

That sounds ......delicious.

[–]_doom 1 point2 points ago

They are delicious. They can be hard to eat given that they can be considered endangered, depending on where you are at. The back part of their body acts as a storage for fat and is filled with amazing fatty and sweet meat. When my mom was living on Guam she had them often and would tell stories of huge crabs in her kitchen.

Just to add to the scary factor, them pincers can crack coconuts.

[–]Beerspaz12 0 points1 point ago

I have heard nothing but good things about this thing. I wish rats tasted this good. Even with a coconut sauce it isn't quite the same...

[–]Canucklehead70 -1 points0 points ago

one big fuckin crab! i'd be running if i saw that sucker.

[–]canthidecomments 1 point2 points ago

Running for the fucking cook pot, maybe.

Them's good eatin'.

[–]SuedoNymph 0 points1 point ago

Where can I buy one and how much do they cost? My dog ate my giant rat...

[–]Dooch14 0 points1 point ago

people have to coexist with these things? Or is this very rare? Cause I would walk around and capture/sell/eat...

[–]tacotaster 1 point2 points ago

This is in Australia right?

[–]Aperfectmoment 0 points1 point ago

I wish...yum

[–]dubdubdubdot 0 points1 point ago

We have them in Fiji and probably other South Pac countries, not sure about Australia.

[–]easypeasy6 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a hamburger.

[–]NuttyMcPherson 0 points1 point ago

Let me guess..Australia?

[–]Lookhowmanyfucks 1 point2 points ago

I saw a mud crab over by the river the other day.

Mudcrabs. Nasty Creatures.

[–]jagalomp 1 point2 points ago

I don't even have to ask if this Australia.

[–]backitdown -1 points0 points ago

I would eat them out of my way..

[–]Choochoocazoo 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of a headcrab. If I saw one of those in my yard, I'd be scared dead.

[–]Ruiner66 0 points1 point ago

Oversized bugs.

[–]dragonspyral -1 points0 points ago

That seems to be the only photo on the internet

[–]Alion86 1 point2 points ago

[–]mblmg 1 point2 points ago

Attack its weak point for massive damage.

[–]atomicboy 0 points1 point ago

Fuckin alien.

[–]skytomorrownow 0 points1 point ago

How fast are they?

[–]Waitwhatnow 0 points1 point ago

They're fairly fast and agile for their size.

[–]westernsociety 0 points1 point ago

[–]Blakwulf -1 points0 points ago
