        I honestly feel ashamed that I didn't know that vaginas were diverse in shape until I watched this documentary, The Perfect Vagina. It's not like it comes up when talking to women in my family or friends. I had no idea that so many women are so self conscious they get labiaplasty, pieces of their vulva cut off, and other little nips and tucks because of our distorted view on that a vagina should look like.

        I get it poked at yearly by the doctor and regularly by my husband, but I just can't get myself to look at it. It's more than a little wierd, I know, to be a healthy and sexually active lady who is just a bit afraid of her own bits.

        It isn't really an OMG vaginas are wierd thing. It is the culmination of being taught to be ashamed of my sexuality and the prudish behaviors that stem from that as well as general anxiety issues. I consider checking it out and I feel guilt. I do masturbate (probably 5 or less times a year) and I feel guilt. Heck, when I go to the OBGYN I feel ashamed and molested. I understand that my family was/is wrong, but I was very indoctrinated and to this day I struggle to live without their approval.

        It's difficult to explain, really. If I dared to look at it and found out that it was just hideous... It would just be awful, I fear. So I leave it alone.

        PS: I'm sorry I disturbed everyone so much. I didn't think I would stir up this much trouble.

        No trouble for me, my wife is the same. She doesn't want to look at or touch hers because she thinks its ugly. If your husband is like me he loves you unconditionally and thinks every part of you is beautiful! Some men are insecure about their "man-ginas" as well, so don't feel weird about your feelings, its normal. Sport your flesh curtains proudly (to your husband that is)!

        Reading this didn't disturb me, I just wanted to express how sad it makes me that you had to grow up with such guilt about very natural and human things. If you do decide to look at your vagina, and I encourage you to do so, I think you will find it is just as normal as anyone else's and not hideous at all.
