Fuck Destiny bond. Lamest move in the game especially on Wobuffet.

Wait I lied. I still hate Protect more.

[–]mynameisomar 10 points11 points ago

FUCKING PROTECT/TOXIC/SOFTBOILED/AROMATHERAPY BLISSEY

TOOK ME ABOUT 5 FOCUS PUNCHES TO GET RID OF THAT BITCH

[–]ManicOppressive 3 points4 points ago

...Stop using Focus Punch on a Blissey with Protect? Seriously. That won't work.

[–]taco_tuesdays 1 point2 points ago

And what, dare I ask, is the correct strategy for such a situation?

[–]ManicOppressive 0 points1 point ago

Use a move that DOESN'T give your opponent a perfect, every-other-turn-prediction to use a move that only fails if they try to use it twice in a row?

Protect's chance of failure goes up with consecutive uses. If you're using Focus Punch, you're giving Blissey a turn off every other turn, so its protect is never going to fail. If you keep wailing on it with a regular move (You don't really need type advantage with a physical move, Blissey has atrocious defense anyway.) it can't keep using protect, and you'll actually be able to break it.

[–]taco_tuesdays 0 points1 point ago

Forgive my ignorance but why does Focus Punch give Blissey a turn off every other turn?

[–]ManicOppressive 0 points1 point ago

Focus Punch requires a turn of charge-up. The charge moves with max-priority, and if the user is hit by an attack between charge and hit then it will cancel the attack. As a result, a Blissey is going to see the foe gathering focus or whatever the text is, and immediately use protect on the following turn. Protect negates Focus Punch damage, and if the foe wants to use it again they'll have to spend another turn of charge-up, during which Blissey can use Toxic/whatever.

[–]taco_tuesdays 0 points1 point ago

The charge-up of Focus Punch all occurs in one turn. The Pokemon who uses the move always goes first and will attack at the end of that same turn if the opposing pokemon uses a non-damaging move (i.e. Protect).

There is no turn off. Using Focus Punch against Protect would wear it down just as much as any other "regular" move. And as far as other moves go, you can't really do much better than a physical move with a type advantage and 150 base power.

Spore + Focus Punch

[–]Splitshadow 3 points4 points ago

You finally got my blissey down?

Guess I better send out my Skarmory with protect/toxic/roost/whirlwind

[–]hydra877 0 points1 point ago

FIRE BLAST

[–]Imvers -1 points0 points ago

that skarmory moveset is disgusting.

[–]Splitshadow 0 points1 point ago

I love making obnoxious cheese teams.

[–]MH_Poop 0 points1 point ago

taunt bait

[–]mynameisomar 0 points1 point ago

I only had Taunt for my lead who had Exploded

[–]Roommates69 0 points1 point ago

And protect works every other move... Rarely do you see it hit twice in a row

[–]RaptorATF 1 point2 points ago

Perish Song would like to have a word with you.

[–]stamatt45 0 points1 point ago

Good thing Wob is banned in most competitive play.

[–]For_Every_Truth 5 points6 points ago

For Pokemon Black Version, White Version, Black Version 2, and White Version 2, Wobbuffet is BL, according to Smogon's tiers, so it technically is legal for use in competitive play. It's also legal in VGC 2013, as far as I know.

[–]stamatt45 0 points1 point ago

Haven't been competitive at all in B/W. I'm not surprised though

[–]tristanvowles1 1 point2 points ago

...Which is horrible. It's absolutely an uber.

[–]E10DIN 1 point2 points ago

not at all. i play quite a bit of OU and i haven't seen it once.

[–]Menolith 0 points1 point ago

Aren't all ubers banned from being used in lower tiers?

[–]Sunblade 1 point2 points ago

Yes, but considering it hasn't been classified as uber this gen, nothing is stopping people from using it in OU. I've seen it a couple times but the offensive nature of this gen means it's situational as fuck and DW Gothitelle is superior in basically every way anyway

[–]tristanvowles1 -1 points0 points ago

I agree that the introduction of more powerful u-turn users has made it less powerful, but still a bitch to deal with in most situations. I think the reason it isn't used a whole lot has more to do with lack of knowledge about it being OU, and people not wanting to use it out of fairness.

[–]tristanvowles1 -1 points0 points ago

I also don't agree that Gothitelle is better. Jirachi disposes of it fairly easily, and Jirachi is really common

[–]Proper_Bert 1 point2 points ago

I didn't learn until my White nuzlocke just how much I loathed Outrage. Good on ya!

[–]Icalasari -1 points0 points ago

I am not looking forward to Ghetsis...

[–]hydra877 0 points1 point ago

Use either a Volcarona or a Mienshao, or something like that. An Archeops with Dragon Claw and Dragon Gem also works.

Or a EV trained Haxorus. Your call.

[–]Icalasari 0 points1 point ago

Nuzlocke Run says AHAHAHAHA No :<

...By the way, Aqua Jet killed my Larvesta. Fucking Bianca, WHO KEEPS AQUA JET IN GAME!?

[–]Proper_Bert 0 points1 point ago

He took down my Darmanitan Zendia. She was an All-Star through the whole thing. Was not expecting Hydreigon to know Surf...

[–]hydra877 0 points1 point ago

Ghetsis' Hydreigon movepool has a lot of coverage. MAYBE Volcarona can kill it because it's faster.

[–]cole93747 4 points5 points ago

My way around it is a Counter-Sashed Houndoom

[–]DerpHerpHerpDerp 1 point2 points ago

Now they'll just rage more...

[–]Pedwin 0 points1 point ago

Destiny Bond is the only reason I beat Cynthia in my first run of Diamond.

[–]LegendaryHero 0 points1 point ago

I'm honestly surprised Destiny Bond isn't used more often. It's such a useful move on fast ghost types.

[–]hockeyking655[S] 2 points3 points ago

I run a max speed sash Gengar with Destiny Bond / Shadow Ball / Psychic / Energy Ball

[–]Serei 0 points1 point ago

Well, there aren't all that many fast Ghost-types. Gengar and Froslass get to 110, and Mismagius gets 105, but the others are all pretty slow.

[–]LegendaryHero 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, that is true actually.

Guess I should say, i'm surprised it's not seen more on Gengar. That makes it all the more tantalizing, though.

[–]ManicOppressive 0 points1 point ago

Gengar just has too much use as a sweeper to pull that. The biggest problem Gengar has is that he has such a deep move-pool he can't decide what to use. Mine uses Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Hypnosis and Focus Blast, for instance.

[–]LegendaryHero 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't say that.. Gengar's current most common set is based more around disruption rather than sweeping. Substitute+Disable and 2 coverage moves dont have the overall goal to sweep in the end.
