I love Nori's starfish hairstyle. First time I saw it in the production videos, I was like "What? Is he seriously going to look like that, or is this just first draft or something?" but now, I can't imagine him without it. It just really fits for me all of a sudden.

I don't get the design of Kili. The rest of the dwarves, even Thorin to an extent, look cartoony, which totally fits with the tone of the book. And then there's Kili, who just looks like a human. Apparently he shaves.

I was thinking the same thing. He looks more like a man than a dwarf. Is this because of the romance thingy that happens with him and the elf lady, I wonder? They want him to look more "normal" because of that, because it'd be more appealing to audiences if he was attractive, or something?

I can only assume. Not sure why they would get an Elf and a Dwarf together, because they really don't like each other much in Middle-Earth, but then again I don't know why they put in a beardless Dwarf. In the books (and Gimli and Aragorn confirm this is the extended cut of The Two Towers) even Dwarf women have beards. I know I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill, but he just looks so stupid, like the actor was running late and they just threw him into the photo shoot without his hair and makeup done.

I think it's a valid point, and I agree. And if I had my way, I would do away with the whole dwarf/elf romance thing altogether, as it's not in the book and absolutely nowhere near necessary. But either way, I'm disappointed in how Kili looks. Even if he shaves, it doesn't fit into dwarf culture at all. He looks thin and he has proportions that are too human, as well. Put him up next to their Bombur and the difference is just ridiculous.

He just looks so out of place, like someone just photoshopped him in there.
What really scares me also is the prospect that he looks like that in the film itself. In any other movie, he would look normal, but as a Dwarf he just looks goofy. It's like something out of a Will Ferrell movie.

They needed a 'sexy' dwarf or two to cover some demographics, as this post kind of proves! Hard to make a genuinely handsome look with a massive beard covering 90% of the face
