Well unless you spend a good day or so fixing it. Buy a new keyboard.

[–]frederiik 10 points11 points ago

How old was is the kid?

[–]nobic 22 points23 points ago

"Was" could also be the case.

[–]MystikIncarnate 1 point2 points ago

I want to know aswell.... jeeez. so much rage.

[–]im40percentdolomite 6 points7 points ago

Context?

[–]WWJBTPC 21 points22 points ago

Its a kid, and a laptop. Keys all over the floor.

[–]JeremyR22 10 points11 points ago

A particular type of keys that are a real bastard to put back on.

[–]WWJBTPC 4 points5 points ago

Fuck those little pins, my fingers are way too big for that.

[–]Zihil 24 points25 points ago

It's a sad story. When a man loves a woman very much a penis enters a vagina and ejaculates sperma. It travels to a female reproductive organ, the clitoris, and nine moths later a babby is borned.

[–]Level_32_Mage 1 point2 points ago

I think he was asking where he bought the laptop.

[–]ConstableOdo 0 points1 point ago

Holding my genitals. I am sorry but childbirth sounds bad enough. Childbirth in the clitoris makes me want to cry.

[–]Barracuda420 12 points13 points ago

looks like the kid him a favor, those are some of the crappiest laptops every produced by hp.

[–]rainbowent 8 points9 points ago

Very true. he knew, and was just trying to save you the heartbreak when it eventually kills itself.

[–]Arx0s 1 point2 points ago

Yep, sent mine in 5 times for repairs before I yelled at HP to give me a refund (and they did!).

[–]CanadianAnonymous 4 points5 points ago

Yup, I work at a pawn shop and people always ask

"You you buy in laptops?"

"Yeah, of course we do"

"It's an HP DV6----"

"NOPE"

[–]Raulphz 2 points3 points ago

Actually ive had that DV6700 since 2007. Daily heavy use, and hasn't failed me yet. still works fine and hasn't needed repairs c: <3

You are the 1%.

[–]creamersrealm 0 points1 point ago

More like the 1 out of a few million.

[–]MystikIncarnate 0 points1 point ago

the 0.0001%

[–]creamersrealm 0 points1 point ago

-infinity percent.

[–]NagisaK 0 points1 point ago

The only part that I liked from that series is the top strip of touch controls. Other than that it was a hell of a crappy laptop.

[–]freebullets 0 points1 point ago

you a verb.

[–]MystikIncarnate 0 points1 point ago

I had to dismantle someone's DV1000 because it was overheating. I was planning on cleaning the heatsink and reapplying thermal paste on the CPU...

Turns out, the HP genius that assembled the system, never took the protective coating off the thermal paste on the heatsink before placing the heatsink on the CPU...

I'll just remove that, reassembled

Worked great, till that girl lost her temper and put her fist through the screen.

[–]xb4r7x 5 points6 points ago

Why would you give a goat a laptop in the first place? They can't even type!

[–]blackamb3r 5 points6 points ago

Nah it's a HP - the keys probably just fell off.

Edit: I accidentally a word.

[–]zombieregime 13 points14 points ago

why do people give hundred dollar(possibly thoushand dollar) devices to children?! i mean seriously! do you people honestly expect them to have the knowledge of how to and not to use it? NO! they're gonna rip that shit up because they can.

does no one remember being a child?!

[–]theknightmare 12 points13 points ago

What makes you think that he gave the laptop to a child? I have been cleaning the house or doing something else and it only takes a few minutes of distraction and before you know it, your young toddler has made a mess in one way or another. Kids work fast and you can't watch them 24 hrs a day.

[–]Nakotadinzeo 3 points4 points ago

they make andorid tablets ruggedized for kids.. those should be safe.. for a time

actually i beleve children should be allowed to use and learn from computers.. i also beleve in spanking (not beating of course) when neccarry and i think this counts as a good time to use this tactic. however the child did seem to be curious.. looks like a good time to bring home an old PC and show him the parts.. let him take it apart and put it back togather with supervision.. maybe one day this kid will post his own tech support gore one day.

[–]JimRaynor56 0 points1 point ago

I never did that as a child...

I knew that if I did my parents would beat the shit out of me.

EDIT: By 'beat the shit out of me' I mean a stern talking to and a spanking.

[–]Shadowglove 6 points7 points ago

/r/childfree are there for you who wants your laptops intact.

[–]codereview 3 points4 points ago

Got a brand new Logitech keyboard .. lasted for ~2 weeks, then my (then) 14 month old got to it and ripped out the 'M' key. The small hinges are made of plastic and one was torn on one end. I could put the key back in but if it was hit with normal typing force it'd just pop back out.

The fix: http://www.daskeyboard.com/ ... made to withstand a nuclear shockwave and small kids (or so it feels) and is great to type on, so all ends well :)

[–]MystikIncarnate 0 points1 point ago

mechanical keyboards are the way to go.

Got a CMSTORM quickfire rapid myself.

clickity cherry switches.

[–]N4N4KI 2 points3 points ago

that is not what I would call funny.

[–]doS2wo 2 points3 points ago

Everyone knows by now that /r/funny is not actually funny.

[–]gemcitytiffany 3 points4 points ago

I walked in on my cat shredding all the keys out of my iBook in a festive manner back in the day.

[–]mountainfreshh 0 points1 point ago

The Sombrero justified its actions.

[–]ds547803 2 points3 points ago

Oh man... I have the same laptop (or close to, mine is a pavilion dv6000). those keys are a PAIN to get back on. Good luck!

[–]tylerwatt12 0 points1 point ago

HP Pavilion Dv2000?

[–]PerthroXIII 0 points1 point ago

Its only a Pentium. This give you more incentive to upgrade.

[–]theknightmare 0 points1 point ago

I can sympathize. It has happened to me. :(

[–]RunningDingos 0 points1 point ago

D:

[–]dankap99 0 points1 point ago

Eh, you needed a new one anyways.

[–]Belvyzep 0 points1 point ago

As a proud owner of two HP Pavilions:

ACK.

[–]tripleblack 0 points1 point ago

Been there. Sucks. $15 buck on eBay.

My oldest child ruined two keyboards by managling the hinges to the point where there was no saving it.

Now, my third child at 18 months figured out that the keys popped keys off. She would just walk up to me, or my wife, or my sisters, or my mom, or my dad, or anyone else with a laptop and pop keys off. Just "pop!" I don't know how she did it, but the hinges would be prefect and the keys would just pop right back on. After a month, thankfully, she out grew that habit.

[–]Slash3040 0 points1 point ago

At least he left 2 of the letters intact for, you know, you want to ask someone for a certain job?

[–]aramid -4 points-3 points ago

Hey, don't be too hard on the little guy. He was just trying to save you from the horror of your massive and terrifying Return key.
