Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

It was a photo that captured it in a split second. He managed to get his helmet off in time so yes, he did survived.

You don't bring a petrol bomb to a protest without intending to use it. No matter what the cops did, that guy came to the protest intending to hurt someone.

I've studied the video, and there were many projectiles being thrown that were just hard unidentifiable white things. I think that the man with his arm on the follow through didn't throw the Molotov because, if you freeze from the video the flaming projectile begins from a high height and descends toward the officer at hi velocity. Meaning the thrower was higher and farther making the shot all more incredible.

From a comment of 1 year ago: a pair of cops came up on protesters who were fleeing, first one ran over some and put one up on his handlebars, the guy in the photo was just behind him doing likewise when he slipped down and took some heat. Source. at 33 sec

If I recall correctly from the last time this was posted, this same motorcycle cop purposely ran over several fleeing protesters before this happened, I am sure someone with better google/youtube fu will be able to dig up the photo, but this was not a innocent cop just doing his job. He was a guy who was running over protesters in a motorcycle.

Not saying that what happened to him was justified at all, however he was not innocent.

EDIT* Here is the video I was referencing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0rO2BTbu2A Again, not saying the protesters were at all even remotely justified, just saying there is more to the story.

EDIT 2* /u/Shining_Wit pointed out that the cop who got hit with the Molotov was not the one who hit the protesters and he is right. The guy who was following the other officer slid off his bike and was hit with the molotov.

Sorry for the incorrect information I had listed above.

I'd like to see some proof of this, because as someone who rides a motorcycle, the smallest obstruction in the road can case you to crash, I'd be surprised if he was able to "run over protesters"

I went ahead and found the video and posted it as an edit. At least to me, it looks like he deliberately aimed at the protester, but that could just be from the angle. I would love to hear your opinion as a cyclist on the incident, since I don't ride and don't know if this is purposeful or an accident. I also certainly wonder why they(the protesters) were so ready with a molotov.

Damn. I can't say whether it was intentional, but he did have quite a bit of room to go around him..... Personally, if I wanted to cause damage to someone, I sure as hell wouldn't hit them on my bike. I saw a video of a guy crash when he ran over a pen and his tire stepped out, causing him to lose control

I too am a biker and running over people on a bike would be rather difficult to say the least, even on a motocross bike, human sized hard, stationary objects wouldn't be a problem, soft moving targets would be very hard to do without coming off the bike

The guy throwing the bomb should be charged of attempted murder. The greek public doesn't even seem to begin to understand that the state of their country is caused by greeks themselves. You can't overspend and expect the rest of the Europe to pay the bill without significant cut backs.

I watched the video pretty closely and as far as I can tell the protester that he hit was throwing rocks at the cops before (he comes behind the fountain, throws something, then runs towards the crowd, where the cop hits him). Now not saying what the cop did was right, it was certainly dangerous and uncalled for, but that particular protester wasn't innocent either.
