It's probably not a coincidence that almost all gifs loop before the ~8 second length that is a general maximum for a short-attention-span subject. Anything longer, and a different mental approach is taken. So even though gifs are animated, and stills are not, if the animation loop is short enough, they are more similar than one might think.

Still is more of a picture from a movie which doesn't concern the frame rate. A movie is a collection of frames. As these frames are played one by one at a certain rate, it creates a motion picture.

Gif block is in the firefox addons page, gif stopper for Chrome. I haven't used either one, so I can't comment on their function, but it looks like others have developed extensions that would be useful for you.

Yes, tho its different for each browser:

In Firefox - Type about:config and change the value of string image.animation_mode from normal to none.

In Internet Explorer - Tools -> Options -> Advance. Uncheck the box in Multimedia group that says "Play animations in web pages"

All I can find for chrome is extensions, as has already been stated. Hope this helps.

Are you serious? Athleticism can refer to more than one physical ability. There are sports where being smaller, lighter, and more agile will benefit you more than being big and strong. I'd guess that the smaller horse is able to skip right over small obstacles and balance its much lighter frame, while the big horse will smash the smaller one in any race or endurance challenge.
