NHL Lockout maybe?

[–]TheSmartestMan 16 points17 points ago

The NFL referees are locked out. Pretty big in the news the last couple of weeks.

[–]oraclesue 21 points22 points ago

The NHL players are locked out. Pretty big news in the last couple of weeks too!

[–]MrF33 6 points7 points ago

I think we all understand that there is no ice in Australia

[–]awnomnomnom 1 point2 points ago

Not even the most southern parts of Austrailia near Antartica?

[–]MrF33 0 points1 point ago

In the extreme southern areas of Australia in the Victoria and New South Whales territories the people do see snow especially in the mountain regions. Overall though, Australia is mostly hot and dry and the majority of the population lives in the areas which don't see temperatures that stay below freezing, that would be why hockey is not very popular there.

Climate of Australia

[–]TuskanBananas 1 point2 points ago

There is ice in the souls of every damn spider on that God-forsaken over-sized island.

[–]Werke 24 points25 points ago

The referees being locked out is a lot different then the NFL lockout they had last off season

[–]mainsworth 3 points4 points ago

But he's clearly talking about the referee lockout. Because that's the relevant story...

[–]Werke 5 points6 points ago

Referee Lockout is not an NFL lockout. NFL lockout is when games cannot be played. Referee lockout games can still be played.

[–]mainsworth 4 points5 points ago

He's from Australia and he has no idea what he is talking about (see his post). He is obviously talking about the 100s of posts that were up yesterday discussing the locked out referee officials. Use context clues to help you come to a conclusion.

[–]w2red 1 point2 points ago

Another Aussie here. You guys might as well be speaking Greek as I still have no idea what you're talking about.

[–]RealDeuce 0 points1 point ago

Is the referee lockout not a lockout by the NFL? I mean, the NFL locked out their referees making it an NFL lockout or, more specifically, an NFL referee lockout... just a in the case of an NFL player lockout, only the players are locked out, the referees are not. Right?

[–]5NL70 2 points3 points ago

What does this mean? That the refs are not allowed into the stadium anymore, or what? Don't you need referees? Serious question from a European

[–]tehdwarf 2 points3 points ago

The professional refs are locked out, so they're using scabs and it's really bad.

[–]Mbakes1192 0 points1 point ago

The regular refs are demanding higher payment, and therefore not working until they can come to an agreement with the NFL. In the mean time there are really shitty replacement refs, and everyone over here is outraged.

[–]unhhoh12 2 points3 points ago

players or refs? which is more important to a game actually being played?

[–]katepea 33 points34 points ago

[–]ScratchBomb 2 points3 points ago

he's referring to the Ref's lockout.

[–]CapatinAhab 7 points8 points ago

Yet you get a good burger reference?

[–]TheRiseOfMaths 12 points13 points ago

Good Burger is friend to all nations

[–]ScratchBomb 4 points5 points ago

that's how diplomacy should work.

"Guys, guys, let's stop all this fighting and watch some Good Burger, eh?"

[–]alwayschoosepeace 2 points3 points ago

NFL referees are locked out no where as big of a deal as the entire NHL being locked out.

[–]dirty1391 0 points1 point ago

I want to watch some damn hockey already.

[–]theace01 5 points6 points ago

Since when is there an NFL lock out? I thought it was the NHL that was in a lock out.

[–]bvanman 14 points15 points ago

The NFLRA (National Football League Referees Association) is locked out right now. The scabs that have replaced them have dominated the news this season.

[–]theace01 1 point2 points ago

Did not know thank-you.

[–]IvyGold 5 points6 points ago

It's been a real mess. The tipping point came on Monday night where the inexperienced replacement refs blew a game-ending call that gave the victory to the wrong team.

Both teams weren't 0-2 - Green Bay is now 1-2 - Seattle is 2-1

http://www.nfl.com/standings

[–]bvanman 0 points1 point ago

It's been a weird season. Last week was the first time Manning, Brees, Brady, and Roethlisberger have all lost on the same weekend.

[–]pwylie 1 point2 points ago

Green Bay is 1-2 and Seattle is 2-1.

[–]theace01 -1 points0 points ago

Shit deal. I just watch the CFL up here in Canada.

[–]SchunderDownUnder 0 points1 point ago

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good one... heehee, Canadian Football League... ha

[–]theace01 0 points1 point ago

[–]greyshades 0 points1 point ago

It's okay. We look at Australian rules football and just chuckle.

[–]second-last-mohican 0 points1 point ago

So does everyone else..

[–]rmvvwls -3 points-2 points ago

Right up until you play it

[–]second-last-mohican 0 points1 point ago

NZ will never play such a confusing game.

[–]rmvvwls 0 points1 point ago

Confusing? There's like 3 rules.

[–]ScratchBomb 0 points1 point ago

[–]SlyWulph -1 points0 points ago

Welcome to good burger, home of the good burger, may i take your order?

[–]DukesNats -1 points0 points ago

referee lockout is in a way more serious than a league lockout

[–]paradigm99 0 points1 point ago

Before he was Wakka Flaka..

[–]mungd 0 points1 point ago

I want to know how the hell you'd know about Good Burger and not the NFL (or NHL, w/e)

[–]Silvercelt 0 points1 point ago

LOL! That's great. That's how I feel about the posts I see on r/Ireland and r/Scotland.

[–]mitchluvscats -1 points0 points ago

Also how I feel as an American who doesn't watch or know anything about football. Where are the CATS?

[–]Humping_a_cheesecake 0 points1 point ago

Everytime I see this meme I read the entire darn thing, and I have no idea why.

[–]Iwanttodateyourmom -1 points0 points ago

How i feel as an american looking at a repost

Bad

[–]Cutts77 -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone outside of America feels the same way. OP is bad.

[–]Forthwrong 0 points1 point ago

[–]zombieguy224 0 points1 point ago

[–]b3diddy -1 points0 points ago

How i feel, reading this post, as an Australian who loves the NFL

http://imgur.com/taDIM

[–]christopherdurrell 0 points1 point ago

These comments prove his point

[–]cephid3 -4 points-3 points ago

Apparently Google only works in America. Seriously do Non-American's find it ok to be ignorant about things and then create a meme to express their ignorance?

I remember when I first watched FIFA World Cup and I was confused about Offside so I Googled it. There was a news article about a Cricket Team getting killed in Pakistan...wondered what Cricket is so I Googled it. Seriously, Google that shit.

[–]faradayscoil 2 points3 points ago

Onecof the most valuable skills in this era.

[–]rmvvwls -4 points-3 points ago

How I feel as an Australian in North America watching all the yanks whine about their sport: http://i2.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/005/165/PFFFFT.png

[–]KobeKobeKobe -1 points0 points ago

it must be hard to read things upside down

[–]Jano606 -1 points0 points ago

This is how the world feels about ANYTHING in Australia. $20 for half a shot of whiskey? go away australia

[–]akuzin -1 points0 points ago

Well with your retarded title, now I'm just thinking what kind of game we would actually have with no refs. Go Pats!

[–]greatestcape -1 points0 points ago

what an interesting comparison

[–]firefae83 -1 points0 points ago

As an American, I feel like an Australian reading about NFL posts.

[–]adaramichelle -1 points0 points ago

upvote for good burger

[–]dogheadedwhore 0 points1 point ago

upvote for upvoting good burger.

[–]crob711 -4 points-3 points ago

I believe you are talking about the NFL Refs on strike.

[–]wintremute 3 points4 points ago

They're not on strike, they're locked out.

[–]norse77 -3 points-2 points ago

[–]middyonline 0 points1 point ago

I will find you and i will murder you in your sleep

[–]SchunderDownUnder 0 points1 point ago

Just throwing this out there:

You might be overdoing it a little... Just saying

[–]angg56 -2 points-1 points ago

Football? Yeah we have one or two of those.

[–]ttnorac -2 points-1 points ago

Its supposed to be confusing to show the ineptitude of the NFL refs.

[–]SOPA_NO 0 points1 point ago

The ineptitude of the replacements. The real refs are doing easily the hardest job on the field, and catching 95% of the penalties that the players are experts at hiding.

[–]ttnorac 1 point2 points ago

I was explaining the humor to our Australian friend. I am not sharing a personal opinion.

[–]klaydan -4 points-3 points ago

I feel the same way as someone who doesn't give a shit in the least about sports. I HATE the constant babble of "My team this, or my team that". None of these fat fucks at work play football or are on the team. Nor do they own them.

[–]mookiemookie 1 point2 points ago

"QUIT LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE!"

[–]Visize -5 points-4 points ago

[–]fork_ewe -5 points-4 points ago

NFL lockout?

More time for commercials.

[–]Titties -5 points-4 points ago

These jackasses throw a ball around for a living and they have ta gall to bitch about their mulch-million dollar paychecks? Fuck them all. Bunch of Mitt Romneys with big arms.

[–]littlefuckface 3 points4 points ago

Damn. Someone mad.

WHY SHOULD ANYONE MAKE MONEY FOR ENTERTAINING PEOPLE?

IF PEOPLE WILLINGLY GIVE YOU MONEY, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY, BUT I DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU DO, YOU DON'T DESERVE THE MONEY

[–]SOPA_NO 1 point2 points ago

THEY MAKE MORE MONEY THAN ME!!! THEREFORE THEY ARE BAD!!
